  1. Len Jewell - The elevator song - Pzazz...........very uplifting Seriously though: Devotions - Do do do de dop - Nation. I'm so sorry - Don & Ron - White cliffs. I ain't got time - the Oracles - OM. Ricardo.
  2. Allways some good records played @ The Pendulum, we used to go on Friday nights. I remember The Invitations - Skiing in the snow being massive there. Scan of my membership card below.
  3. Sandy Hadley was a massive Blackpool Mecca spin for Colin Curtis in 1975 & quickly 'booted' on a very convincing imprint. Originals are styrene with 'Bell sound stamp' Regards Ritchie.
  4. I managed to get this in the Christmas Sales, @ a nice price. its an Omega NZL 32 Seamaster Chronograph / Chronometer.
  5. Hello, I've got a M- copy available @ £200. Please PM back if interested. Ritchie.
  6. I first visited the Highland Room in August 1971, Tony Jebb was DJing & I can still remember the first 3 records I ever heard there: 1) Bob Segar - Heavy music - Cameo. 2) Paul Humphry - Cool aid - Lizard. 3) Rose battiste - Hit & run - Revilot. On hearing 'Hit & run' I blew a gasket, thinking it to be the record of all records until I heard 'Queen of fools'!!!!. To say that this place had an adverse affect on me was un understatment. 3 weeks later the Mohair suit was confined to the closet in favour of the Blazer with the braiding round the edge (17 inch centre vent of course)..............Happy days. I wonder if anybody got the 'Highland Room' sign in the pictures?????? Best regards Ricardo. A.
  7. I'll second that, if you want to see things in the right pespective. Regards Ritchie.
  8. A couple of N.S. record related 'Gangsters' here: Willie Hoskins. Owner of Boola Boola records, who signed & recorded the Natural Four, described by band member Chris James as a "real shady character." George Blackwell. During the early sixties Sammy Campbell worked for George Blackwell, & his label Smoke. George Blackwell advanced Sammy Campbell cash to promote a concert just as Job Opening by The Del Larks (including S.C.) was taking off. Blackwell seeing a full house demanded his stake back plus a large bonus. Sammy Campbell refused & after a heated argument, Blackwells wife drew a gun on Campbell & releived him of $500. I spoke to Sammy Campbell @ Prestatyn last year and he confirmed this was true. He was also gobsmacked when he heard that 'Can't Loose my head' by George Blackwell was a big Northern tune. Toodle pip, Ricardo.
  9. And some of them are unknowns on major labels where people said "I'm bound to find that cheaper on Gemm.Com", so basically they never did get sold. I take it you mean things like The Spontaines on UA & Third Tuesday on Tower ? Also do you still have the 'Quasar one' acetate ? Regards Ritchie.
  10. Happy days Indeed @ the 60's. As far as I was concerned the archtypical "Northern" 4x4 Dancer" that was prevelent up to 1976 was being featured less and less as the "Modern" sound took a hold @ certain venues, hence true Northern Soul died in 1976, and was immediatley reborn with a lot more core styles in its makeup. Ian regarding your 'Rarest of the rare' articles in Togetherness magazine in the early nineties, in hindsight some of the featured titles have proved to be exceptionally rare, whilst others have not. I know you sold a large amount of those records to Pat Brady, but did you keep any, and do you have any more obscure titles that you would consider to be your new 'Rarest of the rare'. Best regards Ritchie.
  11. Likewise.......................Happy New Year to all on Soulsource. Ricardo.
  12. I totally agree.................for me it will allways be THE BEST CLUB EVER !!!!!!!! Regards, Ritchie

  14. Just played the sound bite, and it sounds very much like like The Sensational Manhattans - I guess thats love - Your records. Go to J.Manships Rarest of the Rare to hear.
  15. Moving forward to 1976 & the Ritz all dayers, later on we used to go out for a Chinese takeaway from Washway road in Sale and get some more Fosters lager on the way back. Allthougt we never told Martyn when we were going and what time ,he was allways waiting by the car, and he allways got some free Chinese & Fosters, cos he was skint. Happy days R.I.P. Martyn one helluva character. Regards Ritchie.
  16. Totally agree, "Whistling song" is great. Regards Ritchie.
  17. Fantastic Epics - Lets get together - Kelton...............remove the "talking bit" in the middle.
  18. Both versions are storming up tempo West coast Northern. The Little Willie faulk version credits the writer as George flores. Both demos & Issues exist of the R.F. version, but there only appears to be Issues of the L.W.F which is rarer. Record wise there's not a lot between them, both superb records in their own right. Best regards Ritchie.
