  1. Thanks Jordi, I am surprised you let it go, as it is a classy tune. The flip is called ALONE and is a nice jazzy floater. The guy I got it off 10 years ago was called Mike James, who totally disappeared off the radar. Regards, Micky
  2. I have had an obscure looking Modern Soul 45 in my collection for a number of years, but have been unable to locate any info on the group. The record in question is by the GANGBUSTERS-JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW on NORTH COUNTRY RECORDS. If anyone can in any way shed any light on this record it would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Micky
  3. Hi Wayne. The Along The Beach track is on the album, Street Opera with a Blues Waltz and is very average I.M.H.O, when played next to, All Purpose Love, the killer off the lp. Another track on SCM and produced and arranged by Sir Charles Matthews & Clip Hightower is a superb ballad by the group The Dubs-I Love You. Only released on a 12" but a nice collectors piece if you like quality late 70s soul. Regards Micky
  4. My first visit to the Horse & Groom and a real pleasure it was to be there. From the moment I walked into the pub and Joe came over and introduced himself to me and then met Bri, Dave, Mick & Steve, who all made me feel so welcome. I had arranged to meet Kev and the lads from Darlington to have an afternoon of talking football, but more importantly soul music. It was like I had known you all forever and thank you for making the day so special. Great to meet up again with Brett & Mark H, both top collectors, but more importantly both top guys. The music was wonderful and an added bonus was Chris was doing a set with a 3pm kick off time, with the highlight the stunning Ebony Expressions 45.Where else can you hear tunes of that quality on a Sunday afternoon, just wonderful. Superb tunes and great company, I would recommend the event to anyone who has not yet attended. Kind regards, Micky
  5. Thank you Bob for sharing your incredible knowledge of the Sweet Soul scene. Alas like many others on this forum, I never had the privilege to meet Bob, but I had numerous chats with him concerning Soul music and he was always ready to help in any way possible. Only a month ago he contacted a friend of his to sort out a record deal for me, which would not have been possible without his help. To all his family and friends may I send my heartfelt condolences. R.I.P Bob Micky
  6. I agree Steve, a superb tune on the obscure OK & T label from 1980 at a very decent price. Flip it over and another quality stepper called If I Could Only, which played along side tracks like Standing Room Only-Take Some Time/Horizon-You Went Away/Zeal-Don~cha Know and Toast-Its Just An Illusion, sound just right for the summer. Regards Micky
  7. Superb 80s tune SHE WENT AWAY. A must have for lovers of Midtempo soul from this era and at a decent price. Regards Micky
  8. Hi Chris. Off the top of my head, about the same it would cost to buy the Canaries strike force at the moment. Hope you are well and stay up this season mate. Regards Micky

  11. Track 7 is by FOCAL POINT-YOUR LOVE IS, on Lakeside a 45 from 1982. A killer stepper well worth picking up. Regards MICKY
  12. Very good price on this 45. Have seen it go for double that, so a bargain for someone. Regards Micky
  13. Hi Sean. Bargain price on this album with the superb soul cut I Need Your Love. Not surprised it was snapped up so quickly. A must for everyones collection. Regards MICKY
  14. The good news Andy and his good wife have the situation in hand. Was concerned they needed help but thought best to ring his home before doing anything else. Just spoke to her and was informed it was a scam and hope nobody was taken in by these crooks. When reading the email it sounded not how Andy would convey his problems, with tears in his eyes these people must think we are idiots. Take care everyone. Micky Gynn
  15. You are right on the Leslie Gaines tune. A new one on me. Hope you manage to locate a copy sometime soon. Regards MICKY
  16. Snap got my Seville off Rod in the late 80s . Picked up the toast a bit earlier off John at Soul Bowl and has proved very elusive, probably more so than the Seville 45. Regards MICKY
  17. 2 killer tunes, both tough to find in any condition. Probably 2 45s i would never sell, they are both superb 80s. tracks Good luck in finding them both. Regards MICKY
  18. Being a Peterborough lad the Wirrina had a special part in my life but not through Soul music, When i was 13/14 me and a few friends started to play 5-a side football up there in the league against older and stronger lads. We more than held our own and it was a good grounding for me before i moved to Posh as an apprentice then onto becoming a pro. Even as a pro club at Pboro we on occasions used the Wirrina if the grass pitches were frozen. It was a great place to train and get a sweat on. For those reasons i remember the place well, not connected to soul music i know but just another insight into what else went on there all those years ago in the late 70s/ early 80s Kind regards Micky Gynn.
  19. Wayne i hope you are Ok mate. Good shout as collectors we shell out a lot of money on our passion and we need dealers to be honest. Merry Xmas to you and your family. Regards MICKY
  20. Dave i said posted in sales, but you are right i should have named him on this thread as well. Name of the seller is; Soulinstitution
  21. Just a warning on a certain seller which i also posted in sales. Back in Nov he put up a sales list and i was quickly on to a record a mate needed for his collection. Payment was paid straight away and the record was ready to go. The sold sign was up straight away so other collectors would know it had gone. Next thing i know is the seller telling me the record is lost and he would have to refund my payment. I already have this 45 in my collection, but my mate had looked for over 20 years for a copy. Not a problem you would think, but he was telling lies as he later sold the record on to another collector and so called friend for a better price. The issue i have with this is the seller telling blatant lies and a fellow collector that is so desperate for a record he would do this knowing the record had been sold. So many sellers and fellow collectors are fantastic people but sadly there are those who are not. Glad to be getting out of the scene and incidents like this have made it that much easier. Merry Xmas MICKY
  22. Just a warning and info on this seller. When he he put up his sales list back in Nov i was on the case very quickly on a certain 45. He took payment and was ready to go when there was a sudden about turn. He said the record was lost and would have to refund me. In reality he was telling lies as he later sold the record to a so called friend and collector for a higher price. The record in question was for a mate as i already had the 45 in my collection. He was gutted after i told him what had transpired and he like me is glad to get out of the scene. If sellers and collectors like this are that desperate to do this then i find it incredibly sad. Merry Xmas MICKY
  23. All Purpose Love a killer from the rare Village Choir album. Not heard that tune for years Steve, a great choice. Regards MICKY
  24. Steve. Great tune Fingers-Searching For a Love.. Regards MICKY
  25. Yes a tough 45 to find, Got my copy in the early 90s and have seen maybe 2 more for sale since then. Good luck in locating a copy. Regards MICKY
