A new venture for Aycliffe Soul Club with a return to the Big Club for Northern / Modern Soul nights in the first floor lounge. The big room is booked for Saturday nights. Dave Hancock with Ian & Paul Shoulder will be the promoters and we'll try to deliver the soul music you want to hear. There is a limited number for the first floor lounge but we don't expect capacity crowds. Cheap entrance - cheaper drinks / beer - and great soul music - vinyl only. The first night is Friday 2nd June 2023 with a starting time of 7.30pm (19.30hrs) and a prompt finish at 11.30pm (23.30hrs). If all goes well we'll try to deliver these soul nights on the first Friday of every month and we say thank you to the club officials for allowing the soul nights to continue. Our first guest DJ is known to all - Steve Davidson and Steve is well trusted to play the best Northern Soul from your favourite classic oldies to the rarest of the rare and Steve will play whatever you want to hear. Guest Dj's will be the main focus of these soul nights with the promoters dipping in as necessary. We look forward to seeing you there - as the song goes "something new to do" - "THIS IS THE WAY"

Book - I Searched For Soul and Found The Stars - Gilly
Soulboyslim commented on Gilly's article in News Archives
Just got my copy, belated birthday present from Kev and Denise, thank you so much... Well done Gilly, Brill book. Paul -
Condolences from me and Ian, Johnny was always there on the scene, and as everyone has already said "a quiet man who knew so much about the music we love, a gentle giant and never a bad word about anyone". Life can be fragile for all of us so let's hope we can get together in the not too distant future to celebrate Johnny and his contribution to the Northern Soul scene in the North of England. Sad, sad, sad, RIP John. Paul and Ian.

Didn't Paul Ackley play / champion Joe Johnson's "Trust in me" at the rare soul nights Rafa Club Newton Aycliffe about 2 years ago??? I'm sure I saw this record on a green label and it was thought to be a one off??? any body know more.
-
pm'd you. Cheers paul.
-
monies sent today via paypal £12.75 as listed. Cheers Paul.
-
I'll have red copy - when do you want monies? regards Paul.
-
Can you send a pic of the record please?
-
Dead simple - use Excel spread sheet with 4 simple headers for Artist name, Song title, label, bought from with cost and date. You can include as many headers as you wish. You can then list them in any order (mine is in label order) but simply change the search for artist and then all artist recorded files will show in alphabetical order. you can also list the collection from most expensive record to cheapest or other way around - too much choice really and all one programme which comes with most pc's / laptops these days. Once you've started the programme it's a piece of cake to add / deduct the records and gives you a running total on what you've spent or what you think they're worth, what they're worth?? depends what the market is at the moment really. regards Paul.

Although I only met John a small number of times he was friendly and showed such a love for the soul scene and the banter with record collectors and Dj's,s alike. A big part of the scene has moved on and will never be filled with the likes of "Biff" again. A true loss all of our condolences to his family and close friends from everybody at the Rafa soul club in Aycliffe. R.I.P. Matey
