  1. I think it's brill that our wonderful music is being played on the TV - especially on a weekend when I can't get out There must be someone who frequents the scene - possibly a little back room person left to his/her own devices to fill in the quiet gaps with the tunes - whoever you are - great choice
  2. What a frightening question I've never actually given any thought to when, or if, I'll ever stop dancing it's just life as we know it
  3. Hi again Jimmy - been trying to locate Gary's contact no, email etc in my flyer collection but no joy, however here's Mace's email and I'm sure he'll pass on any message as he's one great guy (free entrance to next Bidds mace ) macejojo@aol.com
  4. Did anyone watch The City Gardener tonight on channel 4 at 8.30pm? Another programme playing wonderful soul tunes in the background - Marvin Gaye, Temptations to name but two whilst watching leafy trees swaying about in Glasgow. Very watchable I wonder if they'll do a sound track for this like they have with the fantastic series of 'No Angels' - best programme ever

  6. Obvioulsy we had very different backgrounds/upbringings then. I did respect my elders as it was just the way my family were. I didn't drink until I was 18 (mainly the fact I live in a small town and everybody knew my dad and I would have got a real b...king if he'd found out!! Oh and I haven't forgotten what it's like to be young - I just have nice childhood/teenage memories and being a good girl
  7. Yes, but times have changed. When I was 16/17 I didn't drink alcohol (certainly made up for those lost years) and therefore wasn't a complete pain in the rear on the dance floor. I respected my elders then and did what I was told and had respect for other people - kids today well I'm glad I'm not one. The majority of 'younger' people are keen to see something different but there's the odd few that just turn up because it's a late bar and they can take the piss and be a complete nuisance on the dance floor (actually that sounds like me at 40!!).
  8. Totally agree with you there Janine! I actually received a phone call today from an acquaintance (not really a mate) asking if they could bring their kids (2 years old and 5 years old) to Derby on saturday as their babysitter wasn't available - obviously I put her right about that
  9. Hi Jimmy, yes it is the same. Gary lives in Crewe but unsure of contact no's etc. He co-promotes a lot in that part of the world, Middlewich British Legion, Alsager Civic Hall. I'm sure you could get contact no's from Mace who does a lot with him (promoting I mean ). Hope this helps. And by the way, yeah he is a neat little dancer.
  10. A mate of mine from 'the smoke' has asked me if I know of anybody who wants tickets for Cleethorpes. He has 2 tickets with accommodation available. Presumably to share cooking/cleaning with him and his dear girlie. If anyone is interested please let me know and I'll pass on your details. (Wasn't sure if this was the right place to put them but it did say 'sales'. Hope it's OK.)
  11. Jay Traynor - Up and Over. Can't even remember where it was - I think it may have been Stafford but that's an awful lot of sleeps ago Don't hear it really nowadays which is a shame cos it's a great tune but when I do hear it I go all cold and giggly (that's what being a girlie is all about )
  12. The only one I can think of with all those No No Nos is Marvie Joseph - 'Don't' (probably got the artist wrong) - used to be heard at 100 club (think Ady played it)
  13. Totally agree there! Used to be played loads in Staffs/Cannock area quite a few years ago by a Mr Nick Stephenson. Might see you tonight Joan at Big Lock.
  14. It's your feet I'm worried about link
  15. But what about the girls???? Sam from Coventry beats the men in plenty of competitions....but the two who are a real joy to watch are Kate and Janet from Hull. They just get lost in the music, every lightening fast movement has expression in it, from head to toe. Every swish of the hair and elegant gesture of the hand is perfectly timed and has meaning. If there is such a thing as Poetry in motion, they embody it link
  16. No not Tall Paul - although he is OK. Not a patch on "not so tall Paul" though!
  17. Totally agree with you there Shane (for a change!). I taught Paul everything he knows Mandy x
  18. Don't you go putting yourself down girl - you are and always will be (in my book anyway) the bestest girlie Dj ever Well done on getting your Uni place too. Hope Tony is backdropping soon. Mandy xx
  19. It is Christopher Biggins but he's wearing a shirt belonging to Ted Massey!
  20. Tell Angela I've been and got her a Lollipop Lady's outfit to wear tonight - everyone will just think the nose thing is her balitia beacon (can't spell!!!)
  21. I just nearly choked on me buttie then!!! Keith Money and Danny Kaye - how superb is that!!! He even dances like him (have you ever seen the Hans Christian Anderson Story)
  22. In your dreams!! Or rather mine
  23. Now that I've done all that pumping for you Kev please can I have the £10 you promised me for doing it - or just buy the beer tonight - probably cheeper to just give me the tenner!!!!
