On my next sales list for a tenner......... chris.soul@btinternet.com Chris

I have heard that there are going to be some tasty collections up for sale before the end of the year but i think the prices will stablise over the next year or so and reach a sensible level. I think the scene has at least another ten vibrant years, after all its not like people are dying on a weekly basis and leaving collections to sell. Personally, my records, although worth twice as much as my house, owe me nothing, I did not buy them as an investment and i`ve never paid over 300 for one single item, most I gathered on my trips to the US and i`ve had so much fun with them over the last 16 years they mean more to me than just the current price on a list or in a price guide! As a footnote, I have been dabbling and dealing records by running my list for the last 2 years and last month I had my busiest month since I started! Chris.
-
I believe the only parralell we can drew is from the US group collecting scene. this used to be a vibrant and very competetive scene, much like the Northern scene in the UK,but a few years ago so many collectors died, the market became flooded with an abundance of quality pieces and the bottom fell out of the market. Now there are just 3 big group collectors in the US who have almost every big record they ever wanted and the only time a record goes for big money is when someone finds a record that 2 of them want and gets them bidding against each other. The main difference of course is that the Northern scene is a social and dance scene wheras the group collecting scene was much more like collecting stamps! Chris

*******NOW PAY BY PAYPAL AT NO EXTRA CHARGE***********NOW PAY BY PAYPAL AT NO EXTRA CHARGE**** Hi Guys, Thanks to everyone who made the Bretby revival night such a great success, it was great to see so many faces from the past plus a few new ones too. There was almost 400 people packed into the venue and the music on the night was just how it used to be at Bretby, quality all the way. Thanks for making it a special night. Don't forget you can now you can pay by credit card at no extra cost. If you don't have a paypal account just go to www.paypal.com and sign up, it's really easy. This has got to be the easiest way to pay, and to make sure you get your records quicker! Subscription to the sales CD costs £5.00 for 3 monthly CDs. All records marked with *** are included on this months CD. The only way to be sure of getting a CD is to subscribe but I also send a few out to my best customers too. I always try to grade records accurately although its impossible to play every record, that's why I offer a money back guarantee if not completely satisfied for any reason. Gradings are as follows; M-Faultless, probably unplayed, E- Very clean and a nice copy. VG - Used but plays through ok with some light noise, great for DJing with. I`ve had some enquiries about postal costs abroard, I charge a fiver for all forign post and the reason is simply because thats what the post office charges me! For this you get the package sent insured up to £30 and more importantly you have to sign for it. I`ll post the records for £2.00 if you like but I`d rather not as I dont trust the records to get there but if I do then the risk will be all yours, cant say fairer than that! I have a "friend" who wants to buy some Northern soul clothes, dont ask me why as I think they look bloody ridiculous, but I said I`d ask on here if anyone knows of anywhere he can obtain such bizzare garments, I pointed him to Warrier clothing in Wigan but they dont do what he needs. Why anyone would want to dress like they did in 1977 is completely beyond me, but it seems a popular trend. Actually its only in the last 6 or 7 years people have been dressing like this again, I suppose its got something to do with the "revival". Anyone help? In 1977 I had the new England shirt for my 8th Birthday, the classic Admiral one, just off to see if someone can make one in a bigger size as i`m off to the match later!! Chris
-
I have lodas of these original sleeves but I tend to throw them away when they come with the 45s, if you need some send me a list to chris.soul@btinternet.com or I`ll just get a selection together and put them in the post to you. Only thing is I cant promise what kinda condition they will be in, but I do have a mint Uptown one sat here on the desk at the moment. You can have them free of charge of course. Chris.

Karl...sure thats the right email address?! I`ve been trying to mail you 4 times and it keeps getting rejected...save the Phillip James if you still have it....... chris.soul@btinternet.com Cheers, Chris -
Simon, The reason I only want an original is that I intend to play it out when DJing and I would never play a 2nd issue out, its just the way I`ve ben brought up! I have the recent re-issue on vinyl...love it to bits for its content, sounds great in the car but I wont play it out, its just not right......... Please lets not start this whole issue again....I just want the record............ Chris. Bretby revival this Saturday...see events section..........

Ian Spittle was indeed the guy who turned this up on 45. I had the honour of spinning it at an Albrighton all-nighter thanks to Ian asking me to give it a spin. Its a different version, from memory its got some guitars in where the original has`nt. That night everyone was loooking at it and all agreed it was real..... Chris.
