  1. My fave Gladys track has always been "What good am i without you" ...awesome LP track from feelin Bluesy....I saw her live in Vegas a couple of years ago, the show was a bit...ok a lot cheesy but to see her singing "neither one of us (wants to be the first to say goodbye)" was worth the admiossion price alone..... Chris
  2. Rich, I used to cut all my own cardbord but its such a bloody pain, I`d say it was the worst part of record selling! Now i get it all pre-cut from the factory....god life is so much easier these days.....but reading your post took me back. I once went out with a girl who was a teacher....she used to get her kids to cut cardboard for me. The kids used to ask what it was for and she would say "Its something we are making at christmas". I couldn`t stop laughing when she told me that in January one bright spark said "We never did make that thing we cut all of that cardboard up for miss"! Chris
  3. I may have asked about this before but does anyone know a 70s record by a group called Brotherhood on Treserect records called "When you needed me"? Its on a yellow label from Detroit.......i got my copy from the producer, Danny Dallas a few years ago. Its a nice up-tempo 70s dancer and has a great group harmony. I`ve ran it past a couple of collectors but nobody seem to know anything about it....... Chris
  4. HI Mate...in my little world the biggest 70s tunes of the moment are..... David Ruffin-Rode by the place KOS-Is your love for me Barrino bros-Trapped in a love Teddy Pendergrass-Do me Lou Rawls-See you when i get there Hope you are well mate.....maybe see you soon....are you doing the east coast thing? Will call you very soon......... Chris
  5. Reggie Soul-My world of ecstasy-Capri 75 quid mate........ Chris
  6. I played the Velvelettes "A bird in the hand"b on VIP tonight....just before i settled down for the golf....sounded fantastic! Chris
  7. chris what year please your first record in German ,Billy .............. Billy, It must of been 2004 at the Shelter club in Hamburg. We got a cab to the club and saw some guy getting beaten up outside, we later found out he had been murdered and we had witnessed it all. My first record was Emanual Laskey "Peace loving man" on Thelma. I played for about 2 hours, oldies, 70s, R&B, crossover....just about anything...great night and a great weekend....Lars and Mirriam really looked after us! Chris
  8. I agree with all...........mix it with "thinking mans" northern if anything...... Chris ps, I think I`m actually booked for the first one so maybe i will decide what the policy is!!
  9. I was going to join up but its all in German! Any chance of an English translation?! I remember the first time I DJd out there and my girlfriend said "You must introduce your first record in German, it shows respect"!! As if DJing in another country isn`t difficult enough... To my shame i didn`t even try.....love it over there though, so many great events and great collectors too.... Good luck with the site guys....... Chris
  10. Just a reminder to email me on chris.soul@btinternet.com for your orders...please dont pm me... Thanks, Chris
  11. By "First" name I thought I was the only one that did that. ................ Ged, I file all of my sales like that as well! People always smile when they are looking thru and I say "in alphabetical order by artist FIRST name"! Hey it works for me...... I know its cool to file by label but i just cant remember that stuff after 5 pints! I know Shifty always filed his DJ box by label.......we had a discussion whilst in the states once about what we look for when looking thru records.....(I am twice as fast as he is....at least) and he looks for labels......I look at the artists names....strange innit.... Chris.
  12. I plan my first record about a half hour before my spot...it sometimes takes some thinking about...then I`m away....but i can change records 2, 3 or even 4 times between records......I think I`m getting that compulsive disorder thing....i keep checking and changing my mind.....on Saturday I had Skip Jackson on the decks at least 7 times and it never got played in the end! Chris
  13. Wow! Never seen a 7" of this before - must be damned hard on 45? ..... Never seen an LP....whats the rest of it like mate? Chris
  14. Alphabetically by artists first name...tried to do my DJ boxes by label once, went out and could`nt find a bloody thing! Chris

  16. Last year was a disgrace......I have spoken to the concessions manager a few times about this years event and he has been brilliant....he really cares and wants the event to be in keeping with the tradition of having record sales to support an event. I did seriously think about not setting up this year but eventually i decided to go ahead. I do agree that £94 is excessive.......but as far as my record business goes its a good chance to meet some new people and have a chat to some customers etc etc....... One dealer bragged to me that he took 20k last year.....i took £700 and it was hardly worth the effort....still a great weekend though!! Look forward to seeing you there......... Chris.
  17. Just to let you know I have that vg+ copy of the 5 royales in from the US....looks a bit rough but plays like a dream...almost perfect.....for sale at £200..........Email me off list at chris.soul@btinternet.com Still loads left from the list.....reserve now and collect at Prestatyn........ Chris
  18. Just a note to say if you paid by paypal for this list your records were posted today and should be with you in the morning...all except the one to the US which may just take a little longer! Cheers, Chris
  19. Is anyone able to cast any light on which of the two is the first issue please? Brian ...... HI Brian, I always believed Soulpot to be the first version because on my Eastern copy it says "A soulpot production" or something like that... I`m not sure if there is a difference in the cut...every version I`ve heard always sounds the same to me. Chris
  20. Just a reminder that when ordering records please EMAIL me at chris.soul@btinternet.com Thanks.
  21. I`m not married but i have an agreement with my girlfriend that if...sorry darling WHEN we get married if anything should go wrong down the line i take all the records and she has no claim on any piece of vinyl. We will get it drawn up legally by a lawyer and both agree to its contents...sign it....stick it in the loft, forget about it and live happily ever after.......hopefully!!! Chris
  22. 5 Royales has gone....but I`ve got another about to drop thru my letter box at anytime....condition is not as good as the one listed so price will reflect that....although record plays great.....email me if you are interested...still a lot of people after this! Chris
  23. Chris will these be specific "crossover" sessions as such? Not being cynical, just searching for a bit of clarity.....i.e. are they billed as crossover sessions or will they be general mix it up non-northern sessions with Trace of Smoke, Mixed Emotions, type sounds etc ? ............ Hi Steve, These sessions are billed as just crossover....although i cant say records such as the ones you mentioned wont get a spin. I think its aimed more at the listening crowd being in the afternoon. looking forward to it though...should be interesting! Speaking of rare crossover, does anyone know a record by Brotherhood "When you needed me" on Treserect records? Its a great tight group harmony dancer...listed in Johns guide at 200 i think but no-one seems to know it. I picked mine up in Detroit a few years ago.... Chris
  24. Hi Guys, Well, almost back to normal, Helen bought her car this week and I got mine fixed a few weeks ago so we are both mobile again. A bit of improved security on the house and a baseball bat by the side of the bed should ensure we dont get scumbags taking what we have worked hard for again! Thanks for your messgaes of support, we were really touched by some of the mails we received. The most important thing is that its only a car and nobody was hurt. Don't forget you can now you can pay by credit card at no extra cost. If you don't have a paypal account just go to www.paypal.com and sign up, it's really easy. This has got to be the easiest way to pay, and to make sure you get your records quicker.
