Keith, Gutted for you mate...really am. Always dreamed of being a full time dealer myself but having dabbled part-time i know how tough it is. Before you all rush off to book your flights .....there may be a lot of records in that place, 3 floors, but its all well picked over. Val always makes out he has no idea what is where and he will do you a favour and let you look at stuff no-one else has seen....or stuff from a shipment from a radio station he has just had in, take it all with a pinch of salt! At his best he is a funny, friendly and engaging guy, at his worst he is a paranoid, bad tempered old man....and his mood can change by the minuite! My records owe me nothing although the financial side of it does nag away at me sometimes, maybe cause I`m a bit younger than most. I`d never sell em, although after some trips i do pull out a few things I`m never gonna play to offset those I`m going to keep from the trip....... I love spinning them at home and love looking at them, every one tells a story...just yesterday i opened a box and saw some records i have`nt seen for a couple of months, made me smile and i just had to pull out a couple and play them....nothing better... John, I`d say about 40 to 50 quid mate but a real bugger to find. I found mine in a basement in Chicago about 8 years ago.I found The Volumes "Same old feeling" on Impact at the same time but i was jumping around when i found the Johnny Moore...top tune mate.....I`m there again next week, will be in touch if i find a copy........ If a record becomes widely played on the Northern scene then it becomes Northern soul by default....The term Northern is not so much about the sound but more about the scene that it is played on....... You cant compare DJ Genisis with the 5 Royales apart from the fact that they are both popular records on the Northern soul scene.....therefore they have become northern soul records. I accept there is a classic "Northern" sound....the Motown copy style. Its a moving feast and its evolving and changing all of the time...... Chris
