  2. If a record becomes widely played on the Northern scene then it becomes Northern soul by default....The term Northern is not so much about the sound but more about the scene that it is played on....... You cant compare DJ Genisis with the 5 Royales apart from the fact that they are both popular records on the Northern soul scene.....therefore they have become northern soul records. I accept there is a classic "Northern" sound....the Motown copy style. Its a moving feast and its evolving and changing all of the time...... Chris

  6. I sold one from my last list for £40......got a couple of people after it so you may get a bit more.... Chris ps, B side is just as good "Without your love".
  7. Not sure who Dave is but thanks, thanks too to Mark, great job mate, almost sounded professional! Keep supporting the soul shack........... Chris
  8. Nathan Williams "What price" on Lime...also came out on United artists... quite hard to find but copies are out there....One of my all time faves without a doubt...... Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.... Chris
  9. Brilliant show guy's...................stunning stuff as usual Chris, thank you for making my boring US Sunday afternoons a bit more tolerable ' ................... Cheers Russ, but dont really know how you can be bored surrounded by all those soul records! Hope to see you in a couple of weeks mate...... Chris
  10. Thanks for the comments guys, just got back....really enjoyed myself, thanks to Mark for being a great host.....look forward to hearing the recording of the show. Its nice to be able to play some tunes you cant play out at a venue.......... The last record was Vic marcell-You still got me on RCA......... Chris
  11. Thats great mate, thanks very much! Just leaving Mark, cant decide what to bring so I`m bringing the lot! Hope that M6 is clear........ Chris
  12. Just wondering if anyone can record the show for me on Sunday night? I`d like to have a CD with the show on if possible.... Cheers, Chris
  13. I`d say more like 700 to 800. Whenever i play mine i get always get someone saying "If ever you sell it.........." It wont be for sale, one of my all time faves..... Chris.
  14. I`m 36, i always say "when i started i was 18 and the youngest, now i`m 36 I`m still the youngest"....maybe not true but there are`nt many who attend and Dj regularly who are younger....... My Dad went to the wheel...thats how i started....... Chris
  15. Unfortunately I can never get this show to listen to .... Hi Mand, hope you are ok, Helen was saying yesterday that she has`nt seen you in ages....... I was playing the tape of me on the Radio in Germany the other day....I`ll have to do you a copy of it...guess the show on www.solarradio.com will be much the same apart from Mark translating everything i say into German! Hope to see you soon babes.... Chris.
  16. I dont think you can beat the Trends "Not too old to cry" from a mid-tempo 60s point of view......but what about Richard tate "Shes got the time to love me" from the 70s....? Chris
  17. I have one of these Sebastian, found it in the US. I was also under the impression it was a bootleg although it does "look" like an original record. Chris
  18. Willington Soul night was absolutely packed on Saturday night, standing room only, must have been near to capacity which is 300........ Chris
  19. Mark, last copy i heard of being sold went for £80..... DeeJay.....Good to hear from you mate, send me an email i need your new address.... chris.soul@btinternet.com Know what you mean about Mac davis Pete...its bloody catchy as hell though..... Chris
  20. I asked in the post office the other day and the helpful girl in there weighed one 45 and put it thru that package sizing thing they have. She thinks its going to cost nearer £2.00, at the moment its £1.36......although she was keen to point out she had`nt had her training yet! chris
  21. Apart from the Elvis stuff....and a couple of others i thought the whole 78 thing was dead...at least thats what the US dealers tell us. I`ve seen places with thousands of mint 78s for sale and nobody even wants to take a look at them.... Chris
  22. Not me mate - I never knew his wife.... I'll get me coat............... ............... I used to play table tennis with a bloke called John Pope and his wife was lovely.....bit of a milf actually...... Where`s that cloakroom mace....? Chris
  23. daddy maxfiled i've always been in love with you UA ........... Yeah, Great tune mate, John Fisher plays it in the West mids....known it for a couple of years but proving a real bugger to find...... Chris
  24. I wonder if John Pope, the lead singer is still in the nick. He got life for killing (strangling i think) his wife..... Still, Its something we have all being guilty of thinking about! Chris
