  7. 45...no way! At least 50...when i started promoting i was 21...the younger guys at the venue were 34/35......the rest nearer 40...I`m 37 now, making the younger ones over 50 now..... Chris

  9. I always remember being on the plane with the Essex boy.... Him"Look out for Dusty Wilson on Mutt"..... Me "Why?" Him, Sams playing it and it goes for £1500.... Me...Well, We are sure to find that then are`nt we...!! 3 days later, round a guys house in Detroit i pulled one out of his boxes....$5.00... Thanks very much!! Chris
  10. Just snippets, about a minute and a half of each track on average. There are around 60 tracks on each CD....57 on the next one actually.... Cheers, Chris

Thanks Dave, thats really nice of you. As i said Chris and yourself took the venue to another level, i had some great nights there epecially in the modern room, i always remember you playing "Sir" Bobby Womack- How could you break my heart....it was new to me back then and blew me away! The average attendence for the soul night was around 120 although we did get 260 in at one all dayer, the one where Jock guested actually! That was a good turn out in the dark days of the early 90s! I think when Dave and Chris took it on, not only did they generate more publicity and turned it intio a nighter but they also caught the beginning of the "boom period"too. Really looking forward to Nuremberg, fantastic wekend...as you said one of the best, cheap flights with Air Berlin, the biggest xmas market in Europe, 2 rooms of quality soul...what more could you want! Apart from the Sunshine of Rimini..... See you there... Chris

Guys, Great memories! Just a few facts...... I started the soul nights there, the first one was in March `91,i was 21 years old. The special guest was Steve Smith who soon became resident along with myself and Beano. I stopped promoting the soul nights in September `95 simply because i thought i`d taken the venue as far as i could, the attendences never really dropped, I`d just had enough. I passed the venue on to Chris and Dave Thorley who after a few soul nights started to do some nighters and really took the venue to a different level, live acts etc. After that Pep came along for around a year and Sam was the final promoter, all did a damn fine job in my opinion. Where the old club once stood now stands some houses. We had a drive by when they were knocking the club down a few years ago, stopped and had a chat with Keith and Dave (the owners). I even (tongue in cheek) took away some pieces of the old dance floor, I`ve still got them though! I saw Dave, the former owner, in Tesco a few weeks ago, great guy, now lives in Spain and plays golf every day! There were so many great nights there, under every promoter and much as i enjoyed promoting the event i loved to attend the nights the other guys held..... Thanks for the comments guys, they were special days and special times.... ...and Mick was part of the fixtures. It seemed really fitting that Micks funeral was held 500yds from the country club.... Cheers, Chris
  13. If you would like to receive my sales CDs for my next three monthly lists then please paypal £5.00 to chris.soul@btinternet.com or send cash/cheque for £5.00 to; Chris Anderton 1 Jackson Av Nantwich Cheshire CW5 6LL The sales CDs come out 4 or 5 days before the actual list so you get first choice of any tunes on the CD, its a great way to buy records and hear stuff that maybe you have`nt heard before..... Cheers, Chris
  14. I think you were right Kirsty, i believe a "few" copies of thew ad-libs have turned up, i was offered one in Philly a couple of weeks ago for $400 and someone srtongly advised me to leave it well alone..... Mind and matter should still go for £500. Not every record buyer trawls thru ebay every night. Chris
  15. This is really indemand, i had one on my last list at £50...i did`nt know what to price it at to be honest....i`d take 40 if anyone is interested...email me at chris.soul@btinternet.com Cheers, Chris
  16. I sell to quite a few girls but they mainly live abroard. A couple of major collectors in Australia, a couple in Spain. Christina and another girl (sorry cant remember her name) played awesome sets at Rimini this year. My Ex collects records, started by robbing me when i got back from my US trips! Chris

John, Had all the Lashawans at one time or another and i cant tell them apart mate. Always kept with my blue one i bought off you at Cleethorpes a few years ago. Actually i googled lashawn Collins a couple of years ago, got an old photo from the 60s/70s listing all the people in the photo. One was Lashawn, i emailed the person posting the photo trying to get info but got no joy....lets face it as the old football chant goes....there really has to be "Only one lashawn Collins....One lashawn Collinnnnnssssss!" Chris Chris
  18. Just a reminder, please EMAIL all orders to chris.soul@btinternet.com rather than PM me... Still plenty of goodies left...... Chris
  19. Sadly not mate....never found a copy ever! Good to see you are still around mate, great memories of the holycross in Leicester! Chris

Oh well, one will turn up, I`d pay the going rate for it, no probs....might have a word with Paul! Chris
  21. With the above two statements you are contradicting yourself the price guides are just that, so what's the "actual book value" you're talking about then? .... Derek, its the actual price the record will sell for.....all the main dealers know what that is..... On one hand i was talking about guys selling stuff on here on the other I was talking about buying records from America.... I always think when I`m in the US how it seems a million miles away from a sweaty working mans club full of middle aged guys dancing to the same old tunes..... Chris

Mark, make it easier, you could sell it to me at the Big Lock on Friday and i could play it for you! Hoping to get to the greyhounds....would love to hear it mate.....working this weekend, trying to sort it........what do you rate it at? Chris
  23. Durettes/ Perfections Brown Sugar Big Daddy Rogers Bobby Garrett OC Smith Elsie strong Jimmie Raye all gone too...but still plenty of quality tunes left... Chris
  24. It always makes me laugh when i see records for sale on Soul source with the prices way above the actual book value. These guys are just arm-chair collectors not paying any tax, VAT, import duty etc etc....do they really think these records are going to sell!? Just a word about the price guides, they are just that, a "guide".....all of the US dealers have the guides but things change so quickly.....check out ace Spectrum at 100 and the Cearars at 20 for just 2 examples........ I hear Johns "version 4" will be out soon......... Chris.
