Good luck with the trip, we were planning to be there end of Nov for Helens birthday but the price is double what it usually is, i was struggling to get a quote under 900 quid for 4 nights. I think we will go in January instead. Not that I`m bothered to be honest, I`ve been twice this year already...but it would be here first time.... Chris

Anyone Want To Swap A Cd Of Lp Tracks?
Chris Anderton replied to Chris Anderton's topic in Look At Your Box
Cheers for the response guys....should we make it some sort of club where we all get a copy of each others CD....once you have done one it seems a shame to only get one in return, might as well copy it 10 times and get 10 back! Hope you see what i mean...? I dont care if i get one with stuff i know on, its all part of the fun.....sure mine will have loads of stuff people know on too.... Chris ps, I guess maybe the best thing to do is to give it a deadline, say 8.00pm Sunday night, them PM each other with our adresses....would that work? Is there an easier way? -
Not sure this is on the right forum, please move if not. Is there anyone out there wanting to swap a CD of LP tracks, dont have to be rare or obscure just quality 60s and 70s LP tracks....I can offer the same in return......all i ask is that the track listing contains the title of the LP each track is taken from. Great way to hear new tunes.... Get back to me if you are interested.... Cheers, Chris

Dusty Wilson - It's Going To Be A Tragedy - On Mutt
Chris Anderton replied to Jaco's topic in Look At Your Box
I always remember being on the plane with the Essex boy.... Him"Look out for Dusty Wilson on Mutt"..... Me "Why?" Him, Sams playing it and it goes for £1500.... Me...Well, We are sure to find that then are`nt we...!! 3 days later, round a guys house in Detroit i pulled one out of his boxes....$5.00... Thanks very much!! Chris -
Just snippets, about a minute and a half of each track on average. There are around 60 tracks on each CD....57 on the next one actually.... Cheers, Chris
-
Thanks Dave, thats really nice of you. As i said Chris and yourself took the venue to another level, i had some great nights there epecially in the modern room, i always remember you playing "Sir" Bobby Womack- How could you break my heart....it was new to me back then and blew me away! The average attendence for the soul night was around 120 although we did get 260 in at one all dayer, the one where Jock guested actually! That was a good turn out in the dark days of the early 90s! I think when Dave and Chris took it on, not only did they generate more publicity and turned it intio a nighter but they also caught the beginning of the "boom period"too. Really looking forward to Nuremberg, fantastic wekend...as you said one of the best, cheap flights with Air Berlin, the biggest xmas market in Europe, 2 rooms of quality soul...what more could you want! Apart from the Sunshine of Rimini..... See you there... Chris
-
Guys, Great memories! Just a few facts...... I started the soul nights there, the first one was in March `91,i was 21 years old. The special guest was Steve Smith who soon became resident along with myself and Beano. I stopped promoting the soul nights in September `95 simply because i thought i`d taken the venue as far as i could, the attendences never really dropped, I`d just had enough. I passed the venue on to Chris and Dave Thorley who after a few soul nights started to do some nighters and really took the venue to a different level, live acts etc. After that Pep came along for around a year and Sam was the final promoter, all did a damn fine job in my opinion. Where the old club once stood now stands some houses. We had a drive by when they were knocking the club down a few years ago, stopped and had a chat with Keith and Dave (the owners). I even (tongue in cheek) took away some pieces of the old dance floor, I`ve still got them though! I saw Dave, the former owner, in Tesco a few weeks ago, great guy, now lives in Spain and plays golf every day! There were so many great nights there, under every promoter and much as i enjoyed promoting the event i loved to attend the nights the other guys held..... Thanks for the comments guys, they were special days and special times.... ...and Mick was part of the fixtures. It seemed really fitting that Micks funeral was held 500yds from the country club.... Cheers, Chris
