3,000,000 Records At A Bargin Price
Chris Anderton replied to Dave Thorley's topic in Look At Your Box
I have been to this guys shop in Pitsburg a couple of times...complete nutter, he thinks he is sitting on the worlds greatest collection but i can tell you there is sod all in there we would be interested in. Talk about believing your own publicity....he gave us newspaper cuttings about his store (i remember he prefers to call it a museum, even though you cant look at any 45s)... Even chart record started at $30 so his valuation is blown from the start... He told us everything was mint unplayed..until he brought us a knackered copy of the Brothers Guiding light that looked like it had been thru a washing machine! Complete loon....stay clear! Chris -
I have been dealing in records for almost 4 years now and looking back to my early records people often bought more than one record, sometimes 4 or 5 at a time. Now most buyers from my list only buy one record. I put this down mainly to the economic climate, rather than buy a few things they like people will buy one record they are really looking for. There is not mush of a collectors scene for any kind of music left in the US, with the exception of the Beatles. Many a US dealer has told me that its only the search for Northern soul that keeps the record shows alive. Personally, I sell more records now than ever before. Chris

Cheers Guys, I`ve had this record kicking around the place for a couple of years and for some reason i always thought it to be a boot but looks like its a proper one.It has the Nashville matrix stamp and the ztsc number scratched in too... Thanks for the info... Chris
-
I have a copy of Gary haines on Sound "Keep on going/ I want to sing". The record has a Nashville mains stamp, is it a real copy? I seem to remember there being something odd about this pressing regarding authenticity? If it is a real one what the current going rate? TIA Chris.

I do know Candy and Carl and i doubt very much anything underhand is going on. motorcitymusic has been selling records on ebay for years... They are honest people in my experience. Chris

I once had this from a member of the group Mandrill....accused me of making money from thier hard work..."I`ll be seeing Jerry, Terry and Berry (or whatever their names are) tonight and the rest of the boys from the band...I`m sure they will be very interested in what you are doing"!! Told him to get lost and i never heard anything from him again. Chris

wanted for a mate... Serious buyer.. Your best price please. Chris
-
Probably around May time i guess. The swap usually involves about 30 people, first come first in...we usually have a theme which is "agreed" in the days leading up to the swap....everyone is welcome although the Cds should always contain quality soul, no reissues, played out stuff....just quality and something a little bit different......thats the only rule really....oh and that everyone sends out their Cds by the agreed date!!! Watch this space.. Cheers, Chris

Midas Touch Records List 41 Updated
Chris Anderton replied to Chris Anderton's topic in Record Sales
Final update. -
Probably about a third, same as the last time, and the one before, and the one before that;hence I didn't participate in the last one. However, if anyone want to PM their address, I'd like to do a swap of this one. ..... Very cynical Simon and you would be wrong with your esitmate...I guess only 3 or four were missing and a couple of these guys are in the process of sorting theirs out. For the record this is only the third swap and the first one was almost 100%. Really, asking people to individually swap with you is not in the nature of the swap but its up to you mate. I think you might have been better recording 27 Cds and getting 23 back with the possible promise of a couple to follow than to ask for a personal swap. It pisses me off as much as anyone that we dont get 100% complience but some guys actually have very genuine reasons why theirs didn`t go out on time. So, who is going to admit that theirs is "Still to follow"? Chris

I still have a few Cds still in their envelopes but really enjoyed the diverse mixture this swap has thrown up.... So, how many did we manage to get through this time? Anyone want to tell us how many (but not who) is short? Chris
