Great point Ted, makes you wonder why new comers - assuming they are - don't ask anyone, join forums or Facebook to ask or just research via Google................ Maybe they just don't know that such a market exits (real and boots) and so don't consider it.............

I'm a novice John May and your right always learning , but these tunes are run of the mill Northern, anyone could Google and learn within 10 minutes. If not join and ask forum, here, or Facebook ; sure there are others....................... Even a search on EvilBay will throw up differences (often vast) in price which would surely raise a question Hard to have any sympathy for any but those that are deceived.........................if they can use the pc to purchase ; they can use it to browse............. Its best not to have too many learners with bitter taste ; left from being ripped off........but unless they try to help themselves difficult to avoid - if they indeed care at all............ (rationale may not be applied)

Its very odd................. Many of the buyers are said to be young - but who knows if that's the case. Most young are computer savy and can be a whizz on an i-phone. So we are saying they can operate EvilBay and PayPal but not the basic searches in Google to find out more............ Could be just lazy buyers, pure and simple

Its very depressing for those that believe in the ethos of OVO to find venues wanting us to play ....when others give no worry and are happy for mates to play or mp3 or cds or boot players Martyn Bird wrote on the subject on 2006 and was very accurate...................maybe he can search out the article to see if it is as i recall ...............................

I like the term Northern Soul and wouldn't want it changed, because there is then a distinction when you talk about Rare Soul

It's inevitable..........even unstoppable............... if its an event as described, hard to have an issue with (the argument that it degrades the ovo vinyl scene is true and valid as ever but in my experience its parallel worlds) ..........

Not described as an OVO event so no one being mislead..............

Agree a long soul night maybe 2-3am, some call it a mini nighter if they run untill 3 or 4am but an alnighter is minimum 6am..........

Hi, Yes we ran the first Second City Soul event on 18/04/2015. Its at Event Address : Second City Soul @ The Custard House, Blake Lane, Bordesley Green, Birmingham, B9 5QT We had 3 guests, Aaron Turner, John Manship and Paul Ackley. I posted a sample of the tunes on YouTube for those that wanted a "feel". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYHIk6w3w3I Originally we envisaged drawing in some of the hipster, mod crowd through links with Rob Glover creating a broad 60ts mix; (Newhampton is very popular locally) but unfortunately Rob has got mega busy and can't be available. We therefore have turned to the respected John Weston to join the resident team (along with Mark White). The music has therefore moved too a mix of "Big Oldies" & Rare and Underplayed - but to be clear guests can play whatever they want. Being the first we had some teething trouble with the sound which ironically its one of its strengths - the system tested fine in 2 pre-checks and 1 hr before the event ; but on the night we have some annoying feedback which we couldn't isolate and some intermittent sound distortion. These can be sorted of course. Its a fabulous venue so we march onto the second. This is on 25/07/2015 with guests Bob Lee, Greg Belson & Sean Haydon. Sorry it tuned into a bit of an advert, but yes there is a Rare Soul Event in Birmingham............. Cheers

It thankfully seems a rare occurrence. I deliberately use commercial tape and multi-wind it around the parcel to make it near impossible to "unwind" and would have to be cut to get into parcel.............having the weight written on is great good practice too............ I think you got to judge based on all the factors, seller, feedback, replies etc etc Also I feel signed for and tracked are less likely to be interfered with.......... how was this parcel sent ?

Demands - Say It Again / Let Me Be Myself - Clem Label as attached, nice and clean Record grades between VG and VG+, some noise on intro odd pop here n there. Overall plays nice. OFFERS by pm please
