    On what presumed basis Russ? Smash closed it’s doors in 1970, so licencing would have had to be via Universal (who took on Polygram / Mercury, Smash bring a Mercury subsidiary ).

    I had the great pleasure of working with him closely over the last couple of years for the next book project. A highly educated, approachable and genuinely interesting individual, who was intrigued by everything around him, whether it was music, arts, history or people and had a real curiosity about the soul scene in the UK and Europe. We had a meet-up (left of pic) a week before he passed away. RIP.
