Soul / R&B artists performance contracts, to press releases, programme flyers and original concert programmes are currently being offered for sale. If interested in purchasing order direct via the site, or PM me here. Roscoe Shelton (Sound Stage 7) - original 1966 performance contract (Howard Theater, Washington D.C.). From the Walden Artists and Promotions estate. Performance booking contract (AGVA # 96106) for a series of My-June 1966 appearances at the Howard Theater, Washington DC . Outlines the artist fees, deposit, terms and conditions, and rehearsal times. The appearance is during the peak of his Sound Stage 7 career, and dated the same year as his "Soul in His Music, Music In His Soul" LP for the Nashville label, and of his recording of "As Soon As Darkness Falls". This item consists of the original contract, an office carbon copy, two riders referring to limitations placed on the artist for appearances elsewhere during the contract period, and a third rider confirming the deposit requirement and venue / dates. The documents are in very good condition, in all a well preserved package. Jimmy Hughes (Fame Records) - original 1966 performance contract (Most Club, Pompano Beach, Florida). From the Walden Artists and Promotions estate. Performance booking contract for a January 1966 appearance at the Most Club, Pompano Beach, Florida. Outlines the artist fees, deposit, terms and conditions, and rehearsal times. The contract represents the time when Jimmy Hughes was under Rick Hall at Muscle Shoals, and three months prior to the release of "Neighbor, neighbour" on Hall's FAME label, which reached #4 in the R&B charts. Mel and Tim (Stax) - original performance contract (Dallas, Texas). From the Walden Artists and Promotions / Paragon estate. Contract (AGVA registration # BC 53421) for an appearance by Mel and Tim at the State fair Coliseum, Dallas, Texas. Performance date June 1973. Package consists of original contract and a deposit rider, outlining fees, deposit, venue details and terms and conditions. The contract date coincides with their second recording year at Stax, when they were actively releasing 45s. From the Waldon Artists and Promotions / Paragon Agency estate. An original performance booking contract (AGVA reg #107404) for an appearance by the Kelly Brothers at a venue in Lexington, North Carolina. Performance date May 1967. Details of show times, fees, terms and conditions, and deposit requirements are referenced. This contract is from the Kelly Brothers' recording period within a year of the release of "Crying Days Are Over" for Sims. The date of the performance marks the transition between their last recording for Sims (two months previous) and their first Excello release in June 1967. Betty Wright - original 1972 performance contract (Elks Club, Louisville, Kentucky). From the Waldon Artists and Promotions / Paragon Agency estate. An original performance booking contract (AGVA # BC 33913 ) for an appearance by Betty Wright at the Elks Club, Louisville, Kentucky. Performance date February 1972. Details of venue location, rehearsal and show times, fees, terms and conditions, and deposit requirements are referenced. The document derives from the middle of her period with Alston label, within a year or so of "Clean Up Woman" and "I'm Gettin' Tired Baby". The contract package contains the orginal contract, four office carbon copies and four deposit riders. Eddie Floyd - original Christmas Day 1966 performance contract (Durham, North Carolina). From the Walden Artists and Promotions / Paragon estate. Contract (reg. # 106780) for an appearance by Eddie Floyd at the Durham Civic Center, Durham, North Carolina. Performance date Christmas Day, 1966. Package consists of original contract outlining fees, deposit, venue details and terms and conditions.

From the Walden Artists and Promotions / Paragon Agency estate. Performance booking contract for Bettye Swann, for a January 1973 appearance at Abe's 506 Club, Pensacola, Florida. Outlines the artist fees, deposit, terms and conditions. The contract represents the time when she recorded for Atlantic, and also around the time when her Money 45s were picked up by Nashville's Abet for re-release. This package contains the original contract and a rider for deposit. Both pages signed by the artist. Otis Clay - original performance contract signed by artist (National Guard Armory, Georgia). From the Waldon Artists and Promotions / Paragon Agency estate. An original performance booking contract (AGVA #BC 43248) for an appearance by Otis Clay at the National Guard Armory in Georgia . Performance date March 1973. Details of show times, fees, terms and conditions, and deposit requirements are referenced. This contract is from Clay's period at Hi records in Memphis, and when he appeared on Soul Train. The document is in very good condition, and consists of the original top copy, three office carbon copies, and three riders describing deposit and times. All documents are signed by the artist himself. Clarence Carter - original 1972 performance contract (Peacock Lounge, Goldsboro, North Carolina). From the Walden Artists and Promotions / Paragon Agency estate. Performance booking contract for Clarence Carter, for a July 1972 appearance at The Peacock Lounge, Goldsboro, North Carolina. Outlines the artist fees, deposit, terms and conditions. The date of the performance falls just after his last release for Atlantic. Signed on behalf of Clarence Carter by Rogers Redding (Otis Redding's brother) who was part of the staff at Paragon at the time. This package contains the original contract, three office carbon copies and three and three rider copies for deposit. The Four Tops - UK Concert Souvenir (1974). A 16-page illustrated concert souvenir from the Four Tops' UK tour, during their post Motown, Dunhill-ABC period.

With hardback first edition ‘68 US copies of Black Panther Eldridge Cleaver’s “Soul on Ice” going for $100-300, here’s a cheaper alternative... UK first edition hardback 1969 for £30 in excellent condition (bar a minor bit of age related wear to the dust jacket). You’ll struggle I think to find early copies as cheap as this.
