The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr. - a book by Ed. Clayborne Carson. £7.99 order via PM here or link at A Nickel And A Nail: https://a-nickel-and-a-nail.myshopify.com/collections/african-american-history-and-culture/products/the-autobiography-of-martin-luther-king-jr-ed-clayborne-carson Compiled from his own words, this history-making autobiography IS Martin Luther King: the mild-mannered, inquisitive child and student who rebelled against segregation; the dedicated young minister who constantly questioned the depths of his faith and the limits of his wisdom; the loving husband and father who sought to balance his family's needs with those of a growing nationwide movement; and the reflective, world-famous leader who was fired by a vision of equality for people everywhere. Relevant and insightful, this Autobiography offers King's seldom discussed views on some of the world's greatest and most controversial figures including John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Mahatma Gandhi and Richard Nixon. This book brings to life a remarkable man whose thoughts and actions speak to our most burning contemporary issues and still inspire our desires, hopes and dreams (paperback, new).

Cassius X. A Legend in the Making - the latest book by Stuart Cosgrove, official publication date 3rd September, available to order now! £14.99 hardcover. In stock and available via A Nickel And A Nail. Miami, 1963. A young boy from Louisville, Kentucky, is on the path to becoming the greatest sportsman of all time. Cassius Clay is training in the 5th Street Gym for his heavyweight title clash against the formidable Sonny Liston. He is beginning to embrace the ideas and attitudes of Black Power, and firebrand preacher Malcolm X will soon become his spiritual adviser. Thus Cassius Clay will become ‘Cassius X’ as he awaits his induction into the Nation of Islam. Cassius also befriends the legendary soul singer Sam Cooke, falls in love with soul singer Dee Dee Sharp and becomes a remarkable witness to the first days of soul music. As with his award-winning soul trilogy, Stuart Cosgrove’s intensive research and sweeping storytelling shines a new light on how black music lit up the sixties against a backdrop of social and political turmoil – and how Cassius Clay made his remarkable transformation into Muhammad Ali. Order from A Nickel And A Nail, via link below: https://a-nickel-and-a-nail.myshopify.com/collections/books/products/cassius-x-a-legend-in-the-making-hardback-stuart-cosgrove
