Margie Joseph - In The Name Of Love - Usa / German Stax Lp
Windlesoul replied to The Tempest's topic in Look At Your Box
I sold a german test pressing (or perhaps musterplatte for want of a better word!) a year or two ago, but as Benji says this was for the impending 1980's release of the LP for UK Ace / Stax. I'm not aware the LP was ever released originally on German but may be wrong. -

For a devastatingly fantastic tenner cheapie ballad / midtempo drenched with emotion, try Byrdie Green - Don't make it hurt - Hallmark, doesnt matter what your genre, it will be money well spent, loved this for years. Lock yourself in a quiet room, pour yourself a drink and let it consume you. I defy anyone not to end up in tears after this!

Gee I hate labels, but know where you're coming from. My intro to the scene was just around / after Stafford etc and I suppose my core appreciation muscially is for 60's from the whole eighties / early nineties scene that followed and was influenced by these places. These days we find a 'new' appreciation for these sounds, tunes very familiar to those around my age but possibly less so for those who dropped out of the scene in the eighties when northern was at its nadir (oh the irony...). Then over the last 10 or more years, these folks re-enter the scene now 'discovering' and appreciating these records for the first time, so these tunes are maybe fresh for them? A new set of 'reactivated old newies tunes' then if you like! Even this phase may be changing now, with the funk / R&B / latin thing moving things along, some of it not to everybody's taste, some that is, but merely repeating the philosophy of the early eighties trying to keep things fresh (although in fact we now even have latin oldies! aargh!). Live and let live, avoid labels and collect / listen to what the fek you like. There's room for old and new somewhere no matter however you define these terms. I listen to and collect the 'old newies' but also equally more current 60's stuff, and on the few occasions that I DJ, I play both.
