Actually just answered my own post- James Taylor was in the tsu's, so its him then?
-
Without listening to them side by side the singer sounded vocally like the same on the tsu toronadoes on what good am I or am I just imagining it?
-
Have both hers and the delicates (pulsar). I do dig her version ( also this was the first one I heard and collected ) but must admit I prefer the delicates especially for the intro. Both just different I suppose.

Tired of staying home is the correct flip, penned by Hanks, Bell & Robinson. Are saying you just have a duplicate label error, or you have YSYLM actual track on both sides?

Al Mccarther His True Love For You Another Version
Windlesoul replied to monitors's topic in Look At Your Box
Still no clearer on the alternative version then? Other unissued versions maybe implied in this text (and some interesting background info on the session) that I came across in a yahoo group forum by Ted Daryl... Re: 'His True Love For You' - Al McCarther Julio wrote: > Ted, now that you are at hand, could please tell us > something about the story around Al McCarther's "His > True Love For You". Hi Julio; First off, I appreciate the fervor in your appreciation of Al's performance as well as the production components on "HIS TRUE LOVE FOR YOU." When we finished this record in '65, I remember feeling much the same way. Here's the record's history: Chip and I met Al McCarther through Al Schwartz. Our relationship with Schwartz had begun in 1962 when he signed us to his Tahoe Records label as a vocal duo. McCarther, would you believe, was parking cars at Al Schwartz's apartment building garage in midtown Manhattan. Once Al S. had heard him sing, he immediately called us to set up a meeting so that we could see and hear him. We were both impressed. "HIS TRUE LOVE FOR YOU" as a song, had just been completed a few days earlier and it seemed like a natural fit. We had several rehearsals at our office with Al who worked hard to learn the song and overcome his initial nervousness. When he felt ready, we booked the preliminary session as a demo adding just a flute to the 5-man rhythm section. We locked-in a solid vocal performance and Al doubled the chorus section with a harmony line. When it came time to add the strings, Denny Randell was my first choice for arranger. We had met Denny at Shapiro-Bernstein Music where we had been successfully pitching songs to Emile La Viola (formerly of Aldon Music.) Denny had orchestrated a song of mine for a Jean Thomas recording date that blew me away...especially in the way he voiced and wrote for the strings. I called Denny who accepted the project and clearly delivered a sensitively expert touch with his chart that elevated the recording to another level. Chip and I were really proud of everyone's work on this record and we believed it had the goods. I had a relationship with Laurie Records going back to a Gloria Dennis record I had done for them so I played it for Gene Schwartz (no relation to Al) who wanted it and offered to release it under a personal imprint/logo which became Two Guitars Music. At the time the record was released, we had moved on to new songs and other projects and, regretfully, had taken our eye off the ball. So we'll never know what might have been had it been given the required attention it deserved. But with thanks to the Northern Soul music community it's getting it now. As for Al's personal history, I don't remember much other than to say that he was a good-looking, quiet-mannered guy ...maybe 5'-9"...African-American and in his late-20s when we worked with him. And he had a distinctive and very recognizable voice with a quality that stayed with you. Ted Daryl -
Cheers for that tfk. Natural Four now gone, still plenty left including the Dells

Fantastic r&b version of the johnny cash classic! Yes you read correctly, need to hear this to be believed! Was big fave in the eighties around the Scottish scene and no doubt elsewhere. Downside is it jumps once but may well work with different decks or a bit of weight - visually perfect and bar the jump sounds ex plus. Because of this, selling at £50 (less than half price) - try it and if it works fine then you got a bargain. If not send back and payment will be returned fully. Can't lose. Pm me if interested Atb mark

Fantastic record! Loved it for years, just love that organ, and picked this acetate up on the bay cheap last month.... -
The jazzman is a reissue but has the tedious 'pre-intro' bit. The Spear one (retitled, omits the drawn-out intro, renamed and pitched up a tad?) was the (pittsburg?) US 'boot' by radio jock apparently in the early 70s. Think I also heard there's now a recent belgian boot of the Spear one too, not sure how true this is though or if the 70's ones have just turned up in bulk. I've got one of each, but not Manny C's LP unfortunately!
