  2. Well I,ll be buggered dont know how they have done it , I,ve studied the footage and can confirm that theres not a Russ Winstanley in sight
  3. Dont know if it is the future of NS its a bit contrived and for the purpose of a film project rather than being a natural cultural phenomenem . But it is great to see young people dancing and makes a refereshing change from watching fat middle aged blokes with bad knees shuffling about like someones drunken uncle at a wedding . Before anyone starts I dance like Uncle Knobhead
  4. Infamy infamy the bastards have it infamy
  5. Hi Lorraine , It saddens me sometimes when I think of some of the artists that we hold in such high esteem may be unaware of the huge impact that they have had on our scene and our lives . During the 1970s were you aware of your influence on the British soul scene ? and when you found out about Northern soul what were your first impressions ? Thanks Mark
  6. Bloody hell I,m offline for a day or two and what happens Lorraine Chandler turns up fantastic Welcome aboard Lorraine and thanks for providing some of the soundtrack of my youth . All the best Mark
  7. Watching those kids dancing brilliant the other vid northern soul dance club was great aswell Ok I love the soul scene its kept me entertained for the last forty years but it and us has grown old so to see kids with energy dancing albeit a bit contrived makes a change from watching middle/old aged people dancing like Uncle Knobhead at a wedding ( I include myself in that last remark )
  8. Imagine for a moment if the media did get the scene , they would have sucked the life out of it by now . Despite the best efforts of RW and others to garner public interest, thankfully it aint gonna happen . Right on , Keep the faith
  9. Realy enjoyed reading that cheers . Funny thing though back in the day I allways found DG,s musings in blues and soul to be boring , no doubting the guys passion and knowledge though .
  10. Mr Burton absolutelly priceless
  11. brilliant . If I stand up to fast my head spins does that count ? never been able to spin or do the acrobatics , still enjoy dancing though .

  22. There was a young lad called Joe from Stoke you know the one, had a divvy mate who would do the dying fly , and a tall lad who used to go to the wheel they had a bit of a dance off in 74 . Last I heard of Joe is he went to Nottingham with his arty girlfreind .
  23. The entrance to the Beachcomber was outside at the front of the building . I never saw any fights . never saw anyone get busted although I saw and was searched a few times , I never noticed a heirachy on the dancefloor I danced at the front not paricularly well . Never saw a bloke called Alan that ruled the place in 74 until he copped it in a dance off .
