  6. The pub on the photo is now Metro taxis opposite asda in the town centre . Blazes was above a car salesroom and is now a road A560 leading to egerton st
  7. Yes Grant it used to close about eleven then I think people went of to nighters from there . Did,nt get to know anyone they all seemed older and a bit scary at the time .
  8. None of my mates would go there so I went on my own . The place had quite a reputation at the time must have been about 71/72 but it was the place to be on a saturday night in Stockport if you wanted decent music . I dont remember them serving alcohol probably just as well really
  9. I think a discrete location for aforesaid plaque would in keeping with the ethos of Northern Soul be underground . I,ll get me leather coat .
  10. Just had an epithany To pay tribute to venues past as we are getting older day centres for old soulies , Sam and Kitty clubs bit like Derby and Joan with better sounds
  11. Joking aside the vid was ok just people enjoying themselves nothing wrong with that . What does bother me though is the impresion that people get of the scene , its a case of he who shouts loudest gets heard . Go on youtube type in Northern soul and see what you get Duffy videos , John Newman , Paul O, Grady , Sharon Finch a bunch of people dancing outside a theatre its not good and not representative of what I consider to be the NS scene to be . The baggie wearing fame whores and publicity seekers have done the scene they claim to respect and love irrepairable damage as far as I,m concerned . Right on brother , Keep the faith yeah right
  12. Much as I love the Casino and the memories of it and freinds are precious to me that is its enduring legacy. Sometimes we are guilty of over exagerating the importance of our scene in the grand scheme of things . Black music has had a profound influence on popular music of all genres yet rarely gets recognition so for the vast majority of people a small quirky part of the soul scene will hold very little interest . I,m not against the idea just dont see the point 32 years after its closure .
  13. Why ? Apart from those of us that went it is of no relevance to anyone else I have fantastic memories of my time at the Casino dont need a bit of tin to reinforce that . The Grand Arcade has the Casino Cafe and all the murals and stuff folks sit there slurping their cappachino,s and munching on a pannini and dont give a hoot about what happened in the past .
