  1. Still wearing out my shoe leather Gavin ...but not as often ...those were the good old days, from the early 90's up untill it closed...did not miss many of them. Great venue, especially with the three rooms, when it was rammed full. Martyn
  2. Hi Dave, Pep had a go in there somewhere as well. Martyn
  3. Same as mine, which I purchased back in the mid 70's Martyn
  4. The 'B' side of the Grapevine one is a pretty good track - 'What a day' (from my aging memory) Martyn

  6. Guilty as charged, but that was an old one, which I changed to the dancing skeletons when I saw yours...honest....at present I do not see an avatar for me. PS you only got it off Google Martyn Adam wheres your evidence now.....
  7. Yes it says "Auction Closed" 'We have had no alternative but to WITHDRAW this record from our auctions. We have detected the owner is bidding against genuine bidders. We will take all steps necessary to retain this auctions honesty, integrity and reputation and will not hesitate to withdraw any item we feel has had false bids placed on it.' Martyn
  8. I see that John has withdrawn this, due to suspicious bidding activity. Fair play, and credit to John for that. Martyn
  9. Mine was some Casino in Wigan Spring 1974. First record I remember as I walked out onto the balcony was 'I got to find me somebody - Velvets' , thought I had died and gone to heaven Martyn
  10. Kaz do you know who the photographer was it is just a few posts back Mandy suggested I needed a trip to Spesavers for not being 100% sure it was Tim and Butch. It should be said I can see the resemblance to Tim and Butch, it was just the height thing that made be doubt it. Martyn
  11. Mandy, if that is Tim Ashibendie was he stood in a hole. I have e-mailed the picture to Tim Fletcher, he is unsure if it is himself, comes to something when you cant identify yourself ... he does not think it is Butch and Tim. Martyn
  12. Who you calling Joan Mine is numbered 1006, the Durettes side is dated 1966, the Perfections side is dated 1965. To add, not one I have noticed for sale since I bought mine 12 years ago. Martyn
  13. Bro, Durettes - Sweet sweet love - is also on SVR (Orange Label), with 'Perfections - I love you my love', on the other side. Great tune, play it out sometimes. Martyn
  14. That is 250,000 - 300,000 per day, and you only sell something occasionally... John you have got to start working on converting some of those lookers to buyers....have you considered a Summer sale Martyn
  15. Have you seen me dancing...I mean really dancing? Martyn
  16. One of the best double siders on the label Martyn
  17. You can get the 7" single from John Manship £6.00 here Martyn
  18. I was talking to Sam Friday night at Prestwich, and I told him about this post, and its title, he could not believe it, why he asked. Years ago at Bretby, he was on after me, so me being the cheeky git introduced him as the Grandfather of Soul, that made him smile. Wether you like or dislike what he plays in his set, you can not ignore his enthusiasm and passion for the music, to have kept at it non stop for the length of time he has, and still be as keen is a testimony to him. Sam is one of the most genuine people on the scene, have a conversation with the man, you will be better for it. As a footnote, in relation to the DJ alias thread, I asked him why Soul Sam, its an abbreviation of his original 'Soul Sams Soulful Sets' (last word may have been Sounds but it was noisy) which Sam himself suggested would make a good name for a mobile disco. Martyn
  19. I know someone with one of these and tells me it works really well, easy to use and set up Inport Martyn

  22. I think that she is miming it Pete, no microphone, and at one point I was sure the vocals continued after she had closed her mouth. Either way great find, lovely tune, one of Doris's favourites. Martyn
  23. I have also heard it and seen it, and I told John I thought it was crap. Martyn
  24. Came out on a 45 on Grapevine, it is on the other side of Lester Tipton...one of the harder ones to find on the label, but infinately cheaper than a real one. Martyn
