  11. Was sad to hear that Tim Fletcher passed away last Wednesday 29th March. Tim was a good friend, a gentle soul with a vast knowledge of the music, he would catch a train from Coventry to Wolves, I would collect him from the station, bring him home and feed him, then we would all venture off to a nighter. Carol and Tim where especially close, she would do anything to help him out, of which he was always grateful. 15 years ago today Tim kindly helped out at our wedding, taking snapshots with one of my cameras. We will miss you dear friend Love Martyn & Carol x

  15. Been struggling to put into words my thoughts on this, it must have been an horrendous ordeal for Ted to endure, thankfully he was not hurt. Hoping that they catch the culprits and the records are returned to their rightful owner as soon as possible. I have a lot of respect for Ted and others with collections of this calibre, their willingness to bring them out and play them for all of us to enjoy at functions up and down the country so that we can get to hear and dance to these wonderful tunes on their original format.
  16. Thanks for the replies, I thought this was the case, it was something that I would have picked up in the 70's for less than a pound. Just thought I would double check on its' authenticity.
  17. Mighty Lovers - Aint gonna run no more / Driving me out of my mind - Soulhawk Was this ever booted in the 70's? If yes how do you spot a wrong un?

That was great fun, I thoroughly enjoyed playing to a room full of people who were open to hearing soul music of all types and genres. Big thanks to Kev asking me to DJ, especially as I am sure he had never heard me do so before We had a great night and looking forward to seeing you all in March
  19. I too am looking forward to this, big thanks to Kev for asking me to join in the fun. Just need to sort out some tunes now.
  20. Sad news to read, a well loved member of the scene, a great lad to know, he will be missed. Condolences to his friends and family, rest in peace Karl Martyn & Carol x
  21. I loved the Two Tone output, and have a fair few singles from the label, a real favourite was Nite Klub which has one of my all time favourite lyrics "I wont dance in a club like this, all the girls are slags and the beer tastes just like piss" RIP Terry
I decided to brave the wintery conditions and venture up to Congleton again, I love what the guys are trying to do, it makes a refreshing change to hear something other than the usual run of the mill stuff. This is a smashing venue, the bar prices are reasonable, the heating was on, and the PA has a clarity that allows the music to be enjoyed without any breakup or distortion. The regular lads all kept me entertained and guest Tim Ashibende enlightened us with his wealth of knowledge and excellent choice of music. This is certainly worth a visit.
Well done all responsible what a great evenings entertainment that was, £5 for two hours of Butch absolute bargain in my book, and hats off to the supporting DJ's for an evening of enlightenment. I knew a handful of the tunes played, I liked a lot of the tunes that I did not know, and there were a couple I was not sure about, but that was not an issue to me. It was a great turnout and a friendly and welcoming crowd. It was great to meet a few people I had not seen for too many years, so all in all a very enjoyable night.
  22. A smashing bloke, always had a laugh with Steve, sad news indeed, he will be missed. RIP my friend Martyn
