  1. Part ninja me Steve
  2. More than likely Dave I have seen most birds doing this at some time
  3. Dave it's auditioning for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie ... Either that or it's what most birds do when they are resting
  4. Yes we did thanks Steve ... here are a couple of my holiday snaps These were taken in the rocks below our patio, I managed to get to within 10 feet of the Sanderlings without spooking them
  5. Sorry for the delay in responding Steve, but I have been away for a weeks sunshine Steve there is a Brown Hawker or a Migrant Hawker (also a Southern Migrant Hawker). Brown Hawkers have a distinct and unique amber coloured wing, which makes them easy to identify, which I do not see on the one in your photo. I would think what you photographed was a female Migrant Hawker. Migrant Hawkers are always the latest ones to appear, and with the mild weather we have been having they seem to have been around for a bit longer.
  6. Cheers Peter, ... I like that you can see his eye through the wing on the second image ... but that is just absolute pure luck on my part
  7. A Shoveler getting airborne ...
  8. Kingfishers are getting more active, actually got one on a perch in front of the hide ... for a nano second
  9. We cut down a few willow trees up in the marsh, which opened up the small brook that feeds the reservoir, which meant I got to see a few of these bombing up and down, even managed to get a couple static for a second or two
  10. A Peregrine Falcon decided he fancied a bit of Lapwing for his lunch ... however the Lapwing had other ideas, and managed to avoid being first up on the menu
  11. A couple of Migrant Hawkers from the weekend I wasn't carrying the right kit for these really, I was set up for shots of birds, so it was quite a challenge to find these using 700mm of lens
  12. Had this on a tape in the car back in the early 90's, my daughter who was only a toddler asked why they were swearing on the song, when the "walk on" chorus kinks in she thought they were sing F*** Off
  13. Here's a couple for the anglers on here, forget the hemp and tares, if it's Roach your'e after use a Cormorant We reckoned the Roach be a good one and a half pound fish
  14. You can forward any suspicious email to spoof@paypal.com they will usually reply confirming if it is a scam, it also helps them track down those responsible for the scams
  15. It was like winter yesterday morning, dark and cold ... in photography parlance the light was pants, especially when I was trying to snap the fast and erratic hirundines Here are a couple of Swallows I managed to get in the gloom
  16. We had around eighty Cormorants at Belvide on Saturday, they started one end and moved along the reservoir "herding" the fish, as soon as one came up with a fish the others would mob it to try and relieve it of it's catch
  17. Steve the one we had stuck around for a while so you may be lucky. One of my favourites, probably because they are not camera shy ... a Ruddy Darter
  18. Lovely shots of the Bees Russell Here is a tricky one to get, a Brown Hawker ... not the easiest to spot when they do decide to stop flying around, and certainly one of the easiest to spook
  19. Yours in an Adult Summer bird, my photo is a juvenile
  20. Steve here you go ... our Sabines Gull, a scarce bird as far inland as Belvide, certainly generated a fair few quid for the club funds this one
  21. We had a Sabines at Belvide a few years back, loads of twitchers turned up for that one
  22. Cheers Steve, always best with a blue sky for the flight shots
  23. Sad news indeed, will be strange not seeing his name against the auction results posting. Rest in peace Joe, condolences to his family and loved ones
  24. Taken back in 2009 whilst up in Galloway on holiday, these were at the Bellymack Hill Farm where they feed the birds, they are tagged as they are part of the release program to reintroduce the birds to the UK
  25. Not something you see too often around here, although sightings are on the increase, I have a few shots somewhere, if I can find one I shall post it
