  1. I also had a Fieldfare make a brief visit
  2. A couple the many Brambling in my garden today (had to defrost the bird bath a few times)
  3. Was he off to get a last second bid on e-bay ? For the non nerds the bird is a Snipe ... their camouflage is brilliant when they get in amongst the vegetation at the edge of a body of water, I had one fly in and land 10 yds in front of me, I watched it all the way, could I see it after it had landed, not a chance.
  4. CarAMel is - Lighten Up Baby - Lighten with an E, as in relax chill out Romark is - Lightin Up - Lightin with an I, as in lighting up a room Clear as mud
  5. A Nuthatch from Saturdays day out
  6. Always an amazing thing to see in the flesh, there was one that I saw on telly with around 1 million birds over Rome, the state of anything parked below their chosen roosting trees was a sight to behold
  7. Not a clue, sounds a bit like the Fine Young Cannibals ... nice track
  8. Steve ... and anyone else reading ... a top tip for sunset photographs, set the White Balance to "Shade" it really warms up the image, and gives them a deep fiery glow
  9. A Female Sparrowhawk in this mornings gloom
  10. Graham, Steve is correct the one in my image is the female, juveniles also can have a brown cap, I think they are a smart looking bird, always neatly turned out.
  11. A nice comparison in size between the Greenfinch and the Siskin on the right. It should be noted I had cleaned that feeder on Wednesday, those Greenfinch have awful table manners
  12. I had a bit of a mad 15 minutes Steve, I was getting Brambling, Siskin and my resident Blackcap showed up as well. I had been working, only went down to make a cup of tea, ran back upstairs and got the camera. My resident Blackcap
  13. A winter visitor to our shores, the Brambling, which can be a scarce one to see ... for the last 16 days I have been getting at least two in my garden, with as many as five a few days ago. Please excuse the quality but these were all taken through my kitchen window and the feeder is a fair distance away. I wanted to post them just to show what it is possible to get in an urban garden Note how defensive of the feeder the Greenfinch is
  14. Early 90's Pep's shop in Queen Street Wolves, a box of records on the counter had loads of these in, equal number of issues and demos, about £10 - £15 back then. I seem to remember John Manship getting around £500 for one last year, so somewhere between those two values, anybodies guess these days. I certainly wore some leather of my shoes dancing to this all those years ago ... tiny bubbles indeed.
  15. Blue Tit & Chaffinch out in the snow
  16. "If I keep really still behind this twig they will never see me"
  17. Great track, I played this out a few times in the mid 90's always got a few people enquiring what it was.
  18. Well it was nice to get out in the fresh air for a change, unfortunately the light was pants (sorry for resorting to technical terms), and there were not many birds about. Anyway this Goldcrest was scurrying about in the trees behind the hide
  19. I have been busy, and full of cold Steve, hoping to get out tomorrow. Although this was the view from my patio Christmas and New Year
  20. Are you thinking of the Flaming Emeralds on Fee - Have Some Everybody
  21. Here you go ...
  22. It appears to be a bird ringed by the local ringing group, the colour is the identifier, unfortunately the bird did not land to get a clear ID on the number, and in flight they tuck the undercarriage up so the markings are obscured by feathers. Generally the birds are ringed as chicks at the nest, we believe that this bird is 2H a locally ringed bird Just to add love those underwater shots
  23. This young Peregrine was chasing everything and anything on the reservoir yesterday, at one point it even had a go at a Goose
  24. A Little Egret ... would have been a scarce visitor not too many years ago, they have become a more common sight recently
  25. We went there on my birthday Steve, nice place Ludlow ... looks like you were there for the knight, we only went for the day
