  2. Cant boast of famous djs however Phil Sumner (stings brother) was my brothers best man and sting came to our house a few times in sunny North Shields and was well pissed at a new years eve party at our house in 72 just before he left the North east to be bass guitarist in Curved Air. Hilton Valentine (animals lead guitarist) is a friend He used to play every tuesday in a band called the wildcats that I had at the pub I used to manage in Whitley bay Still talk via email to him. Brian Johnson (AC/DC lead singer) used to live round the corner (100 yards) from me before he sang in a band called geordie (pre ACDC fame) and he was so skint he used to clean and paint the shop windoows for Mrs O'keefe who owned the shop to get groceries. any way the only dj id like to meet and chat to is Tony Blackburn...top soulster IMHO Geooooordie
  3. Well done all....been pissing myself here Geeoooooordie
  4. I downloaded the scans of the one that went through ebay recently and ive just don the same with these and lo and behold they are Identical right down to watermarks and smudges...either the person who bought it last time is reselling...or as weve all summised its a definit scam Geeoooordie
  5. Davie, Had this for years been playing it at the friendship Barnsley for the last two yearsand it is bloody brilliant ..but try and find one issue or demo are very elusive. Geeoooordie
  6. Trev, Jo asked me to do a poll for a laugh, it was going to be do you think trev follows jos lead on music yes or no. But after the ale wore off this morning I thought that would be too cruel. Looking forward to your set at the Wilton
  7. The Holgate has been running for a few years, the music policy is progressive playing across the board, and you will hear some superb rarities. It does play mainly 60s/70s......... but great 60s/70s How many times do you go to a venue and nobody dances until about 10:30 when the ale kicks in...............not the Holgate as people are entering the room many head straight to the floor, last night by 8:45 the room was filling but the floor was jumping. need I say more
  8. I went to the Holgate York last night and I must admit it has become a must go to venue for me. Tony Hatfield, John Parker and guest DJ Mark (billytheboot) Whiteley were outstanding. Its not very often theses days where you get all hyped up when travelling to a venue because you just dont know how much better they can make it from the last event or how good the sounds are going to get and believe me last night was fantastic. As I put in previous post it was good to see trevski and also to be informed that his inspiration and guiding hand in his music is his missus, BTW i rarely dance to more than two or three tunes these days (age you know) but last night i was only off the floor occaisionaly (suffering today) Anyone else go? Worth a trip for those who havent ventured to this venue yet you will not be dissappointed Geeooooorrddie
  9. Got to be imber.....go to their web site
  10. I believe trevski gets all his info and inspiration from his missus who is the real brains behind his music (or so she told me at the holgate york last night)
  11. cheers winnie..... that raised a laugh from a tired lad ready for his bed
  12. I gathered that, but was just having a laugh from previous threads debating the right and wrong of boots CDs and......... yawn the same old arguments that are making this site a tad tired. a nice selection though
  13. Benny Hill -fastest milkman in the west (ash-trayed) 1st Northern -Chubby Checker everythings wrong -(still got it) 1st Album Sam and Dave
  14. Ere....not bad but are these for sale and do you have the licensing rights if you are selling it (tongue in cheek) watch out for the incoming Ian Geeooooorrdie
  15. These can, although they go to page not found, fire a tracker to your PC and start getting/tracking all your details, Billytheboot (on here) has had one of these and it f**ked his comp had to reinstall everything in fact he still cannot get into ebay as they changed his password and his email address was rendered useless, been down for about 5 weeks he is still trying to sort that out..advice is sweep your PC with spybot or other tracker killer software and change your passwords.
  16. Mr Dog no need for you to pretend keep up appearances, top flight collector and promoter in my view. PS whens Flipside at sheridans again my memories like a sieve Geeeoooo rdieee
  17. Had this since early nineties, and have spun it off and on for the last two years at the friendship Barnsley ...it always gets a good dancefloor reaction
  18. Cheers rodger, YER A GOOD MAN
  19. Hey I thought my tiff with ChristianB was good ...drew a good crowd..I think this one may go one better
  20. Hey dodger seen that a few times, but the lead thread is Kosher and although a bit harsh in your wording this sort of thing does go on have actually seen it myself.. but an apol to kate wouldnt go amiss
  21. Pete I think you summed this up, thread should have stopped here (ha ha)
  22. I think everybody has coverd the angles so far in this debate, I can only quote from my own experience. Me and Billy the boot (or billytheboot and I) have been running the Friendship Pure soul nights for two years In Barnsley we have yet to break even. At first we had a lot of give aways, such as, I did an A5 12 page pure soul music review that we gave away, promoting records, a bit of soul history, that kind of thing. (they were that good people were wanting them from as far away as Canada and Australia), SHANE you got one did you like them?....... the cost to get them done wasnt covered on the door and it was hurting me personally financially so they had to stop. We set out to have a venue that was there for promoting music, not for self gain (that was our choice) and weve maintained that ethos, we barley get a tenner each or even a drink once weve paid the guests and other overheads but we do get what we want in the end. AN EVENING OF PURE SOUL MUSIC ACROSS THE BOARD (keeping it real) (the Friendship Gawber Road Barnsley Last Friday of every month) There now, I feel like one of the top rank promoters with that little ending On a serious note we dont make anything, any new vinyl comes out of the shopping money when the wifes not looking and its hard work week after week getting to venues printing flyers and generally keeping the venue alive, So is it bad that some make money out of it?...not at all theve probably worked their nuts off..and I do sympathise with the lead thread on the charity score thats tough,Not everyone will help out and do flyers, or hire the room etc for nothing (tried it). Geordie
  23. Jamie, thats the fun of this site always people getting worked up by the end its been a good laugh. what dates your do on in leeds? me and billytheboot are threatening to get over Im a great fan of John parkers music
  24. Jamie, He did state they were reissues and (its hard to judge in text) apeared to belittle anyone who played then in his "hot shot dj" comments. anyway its done so dont drag it any further and hey keep the wankerman comments to yourself
