  5. MMMMMMmmmm cracking mellow groovemr petebangor but sounds familiar anyone else think so....... u sure its this years model ????????? also noted your comments bout Gabin the original mix goes well in 60's rooms and the remix has had some decent receptions in the modern rooms. I think gabin is a pleasent change to some of the predictable sounds coming out at the moment. Geoooordie
  6. when I put stuff on ebay its there for the duration, recently put the Q thats the way up and i had 15 e-mails with "wot do you want to withdraw it", "shag all" I replied its up for 5 days and there it will stay and a true bidder got it for a snip of a price Im happy hes happy. If you dont want to let the auctions run its course why the f**k do you put them on why not just advertise with a list via this site asking for bids, instead of pissing people off by withdrawing an item half way through. MMMMMMMmmmm prehaps im just not the greedy type, I also dont ask a seller to withdraw an item - proper gent see, want to let all comers have a snatch at the prizes. Geeooooordie

  8. when I was younger in the 70's I thought the following top ten tips were how you became a Northern DJ, certainly was order of the day for some of the big hitters of the time, maybe it'll work for you...good luck. 1) Learn How to miss cue your records 2) allow long pauses between tracks (unless you are plugging something see point 7) 3) ensure needles grind on anti-dust mat with volume up so the audience can hear 4) press mic hard onto mouth and talk, ensuring no one can understand what the f**k you are saying. 5) Push volume up to max so it distorts sound and pierces ear drums (mandatory) 6)If playing CDs put a vinyl track on the decks and let it spin to let people think your playing an original (recent edition on the soul scene) 7) if you have a new book or overseas venue you are running, plug at every opportunity especially between every track for four mins. 8)Only show up to DJ if theres something in it for you (a load of wonga would be good) 9) watch the TV some good theme tunes for kids programmes that may just be the next big hitter. 10) Learn to brag of all your yesterdays (needed for 20/30 years time) Hope that helps Geeoooordie what ? WHAT....have I said something wrong?
  9. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm Interesting.wasn,t there some debate a while ago about a lot of the tracks on so called "legit" CDs not being licenced so is the scenario we buy the cds to avoid buying boots and find the CDs arnt quite legit anyway Geeoooooooordie

  11. Come on dave ....round 5...its getting interesting
  12. brilliant Geeoooordiee
  13. point taken (swipe to nose but no blood pulled) I was only 13 when I got into it in the early days my sister took me to venues and i was the youngets there but I just thought "sod it" and got on with it...........but today there doesnt seem to be much movement in my elder bones so i watch more and can see how younger more spritely people might get a bit intimidated by ogling eyes. Plus in the early days in amongst the heaving throngs you could pick up allsorts of moves ...today we all seem to shuffle the same Geoooordie
  14. (cooo I think I'll start a playground fight) The N Soul Scene (NOSTALGIA SOUL) has been the Northern scenes own worst enemy and I agree this has given rise to the dinasour tag.....but I am seeing far more younger faces at venues that play across the board. but again you dont need confidence to get on the floor you just have to come to an open minded venue and youll soon realise people dont give a toss about your dancing skills ....in fact youd be appreciated more for getting up to a tune you love whatevr freaky shapes you pull Geeooooordie
  15. Tut Tut.... what cheap stunt will they do next...maybe...acetates

  17. Back int old days I can remember there were the poseurs who would pidgeon chest and strutt and generally not get on the floor unless they could command an audience BUT.............. the thing I loved and still love is Theres No right or wrong way to dance to this music of ours you just dance to what makes you buzz and in the main no one judges and if your the only one on the floor to a tune... so what.... your doin what makes you happy even if you have two left feet. I do like to see a good dancer pulling some shapes though......... but dance classes MY ARSE

  24. And thats a complete load of bolloks looks like your cocks an arbroath smokie as mark lamar was also playing 60 soul not just rock and roll....er if im not mistaken wasnt rock n roll born out of the R&B when the white guys started nicking tunes........ Its R&B no doubt about it
  25. Hi a wee story on this, I got two copies off an old USA radio DJ/record collector in California hes in his late 70's now but when the radio station he worked on closed in the early 80's he took all the records. (thousands of the bleeders). He told me the following Although initially it was a large promo press (black writing glad hamp) it flopped in 1959 and the red writing issues are the rarer of the two, it was re-released in small quantities on Carlton to meet demand of the rhythm and soul scene and this could well be the rarer of the releases but basically that flopped also. although copies are turning up it has had appeal across the collecting world in all forms of music for quite a few years now and copies are scarce and hard to come by...there is probably more copies in the UK now than in the US. I could see how this could cross to the northern floors its a chugging grinding blinder of a dancer. Anyway lets get real if the N Soul Scene (Nostalgia soul scene) can bop to party time man they probably will hijack a record as good as this from the R&B boys I for one play annabelle at the friendship but thats because were not stuck in a one horse way of thinking..... we play across the board and long may it continue Geeoooooordie
