My daughters would die if their friends got to see me pulling my shapes on the floor over the net they think im shite already I dont want to rubber stamp it. and i think i could single handed sign the death knell to the scene as far as new bloods concerned if my craanky movements were aired to the wide world Geeooooordie

As a few of you on here know i was burgled and lost a load of tunes in 2002 and some came up for sale on Ebay...the police ..fair play did all they could but I got nothing back, and im still to this day sick to my stomach something i'll never get over. Its a very emotive subject..me id love to bounce thieves all over the pavement outside...but if id bought a record from a dealer and then found out it was nicked id give the tune back to the rightful owner and if the dealer was legit and totally in the dark..see if some sort of 50/50 could be agreed on another purchase if he wasnt in the dark id be knocking on his door with a big stick. Not sure if im reading this right but hears an answer. I think RARE and "Hard to find" can get a bit confused at times....as weve seen quite a few times over the years A rare record can suddenly appear in swarms..... when the price is right. But we also hear the groans "Its only rare coz it was shite in the first place" that may be the truth for a few but There was also some great tunes done on a shoe string and £ notes didnt pemit, advertising distribution and in some cases large presses. Look at the limelights on uncle i love that but...rocking horse shit comes to mind for rarity. I once read an article..think it was on soulful detroit about ....i think it was Patti Youngs head an shoulders...an entire pressing run was Sledge hammered coz it wasnt deemed fit enough for national release...could that have happened to other tunes because although good didnt fit the mood of the time?? As for numbers what constitutes rare .....god knows.... to me for the amount of people collecting worldwide now, 100 would be rare... 50 impossible...5.... for gods sake theres never just 5, there hiding in peoples houses ready for the price to hike (dont anyone print frank wilson) Geeooooordie

I get the sweetest feeling Jackie wilson for me......multiple entries in the chats over the years and still does the business Geeoooooordie -
Eddie Bishop.....My front room...my dad had it years ago late 60's...and i remember it being played on the radio long before the Northern scene ever decided to snatch it as a northern sound i aways viewed it as a pop sound and nearly bought a round when i heard it played out i was gobsmacked. Repro's & Re - Issues.. Who Gets The Money?
Geordiejohnson replied to Harrogatesoul's topic in All About the SOUL
my sentiments exactly....when i was 12 or so i bought boots to play at the school disco...i didnt even know they were boots at the time and only had my paper round money as buying power....bought them from a bonafide record store...but like you say as we get educated about the scene and older and wiser (well my wife thinks im a fool for spending large sums on music) not only is it the correct and moral thing but there is also a great deal of satisfaction in gaining an original track. Im in the same camp...can i surrender ...... white flag and all that anyway you said we'd discuss it next time ..I BUY YOU A Pint...ask around no ones seen my wallet for 25 years Geeooooordie Geeoooordie -
Repro's & Re - Issues.. Who Gets The Money?
Geordiejohnson replied to Harrogatesoul's topic in All About the SOUL
i agree brett, i was teasing...it was just a jibe at older posts ive seen on SS where people moan about the artists not getting their dues and in a miniscule way and technically speaking the PRS thing is just that... but.....Im in the same camp as you real vinyl only dont give the bootleggers the option or satisfaction of sales Now on the lawsuit thing do you play your records at home or do you have friends round???? as that could constitute a public performance if there are more than three of you , if you see a man in a long mack with a big camera and a recording instrument of sorts, otside your living room window dont worry its only me gathering evidence Geeoooordie -

Repro's & Re - Issues.. Who Gets The Money?
Geordiejohnson replied to Harrogatesoul's topic in All About the SOUL
Brett... when you dj, before you place your vinyl on the decks, do you ensure the venue is registered with the PRS so that the artist may make his 1,000,000,000th of a percent off your play and dont anyone assume its a given that they would be registered just because an establishment has a licence to sell alcohol..its not is defrauding the artist by this way just as bad as bootlegging...id be interested to know as i spent a few years in as a pub manager geeoooordie -

Mark he hit the UK charts with "Oh lord its hard to be humble, when your perfect in every way...i cant wait to look in the mirror i get better looking each day".....christ i'll be singing this forever now... ah go on heres the full lyrics Oh Lord it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way. I can't wait to look in the mirror cause I get better loking each day. To know me is to love me I must be a hell of a man. Oh Lord it's hard to be humble but I'm doing the best that I can. I used to have a girlfriend but she just couldn't compete with all of these love starved women who keep clamoring at my feet. Well I prob'ly could find me another but I guess they're all in awe of me. Who cares, I never get lonesome cause I treasure my own company. Oh Lord it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way, I can't wait to look in the mirror cause I get better looking each day To know me is to love me I must be a hell of a man. Oh Lord it's hard to be humble but I'm doing the best that I can. I guess you could say I'm a loner, a cowboy outlaw tough and proud. I could have lots of friends if I want to but then I wouldn't stand out from the crowd. Some folks say that I'm egotistical. Hell, I don't even know what that means. I guess it has something to do with the way that I fill out my skin tight blue jeans. Oh Lord it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way, I can't wait to look in the mirror cause I get better looking each day To know me is to love me I must be a hell of a man. Oh Lord it's hard to be humble but I'm doing the best that I can. We're doing the best that we can Sad eh The im just in love single is harder than everyone thinks...try and find one now ..last one went through ebay at £75... Ive got the forever love album...(dire apart from this track)...but keep searching for the single and it doesnt appear often.
