  2. I sold a some good in everything bad last year for £90 and had an offer of one alone for £175 in excellent condition.....only last september, personnally i like the "some good" better than the one alone. Geeoooooordie
  3. MMMMMMM Manchester...promoter.....can put forward the name of Steve Cato...his venues are always great, has a lot of respect, certainly from uz yorkshire lads (im an adopted yorkie0 Geeooordie
  4. I was brought into soul music by my dad as a toddler in the 60's he was mad for it, by the early 70's my sisters were bouncing round britain to various soul venues and i was getting a weekly dose of new soul recordings on my phillips portable casstette player that had been taped (rather poorley) at part of a venue that weekend, by the time i was 14 I was glad to have some great mentors like Paul rowe, Steve peebles, Steve Paiter, Big Ray butters, who (coz i was small) blagged me into nighters, they showed great friendship to a snotty nosed whipper snapper who was mad on the soul scene, didnt care about my age, just wanted me to love the music....we should do the same for all the younger folks who are passionette about soul music and give them the experiences of our miss spent youth. But then again theyell get there own as the same old things, politics, drugs, etc etc were there in the past and will be there in the future, it'll be just a tad more pricey to collect. and remember what was new to us is opening up and new to them....just think of that buzzzzz......shit i wish i was young again Geeooooordie
  5. I actually missed the dayers as i had to work at my lousy job i had at the time actually events at the tracky could have been 800 wow so the scene was alive and kicking thanks to derek greenhoff, bub and the likes of yourself who djayed there & kept it fairly bouyant, (i did get sick of freddie houstons soft walking though at 9:15pm could set me clock by it )
  6. Got to agree with chalky there were loads of venues going at the time least of all the tracky club in Barnsley which was a weekly venue (Un -heard of now) which got healthy attendences with people from all over the country (if my memory serves me well a certain Mr Croadsdall ventured up here to the chilly north one night) i may add It ran weekly for 15 years never missed a weekend (780 nights could possibly hold a record for the longest amounts of nights a soul venue ran), we also had to endure chalkys spots only joking. Geeoooordie
  7. Oh Aye another i keep hearing is "getting plenty plays" or "getting played" to tunes that are utter shite and ive never heard..........................mainly by dealers this one or someone trying to flog stuff Geeoooordie
  8. a common phrase in our circle these days is "whats this playing"...reply "hang on while i get me ear trumpet out" Coz im getting as deaf as a post, too many lousey sound systems screeching out for years fooking the old lugs. but it works when someone tells you an over inflated price on a record you just go "eh wot eh....f**k it mate dont bother I cant hear you" Geeoooordie
  9. Good luck mark will be listening over the net as i dont have sky or anything that would take my money away from purchasing vinyl ......dont believe anyone when they say im a tight arse. Will be tuning in Geeoooooordie
  10. Tony ive got one but not for sale, just wanted to add ive had three on demos and surfaces of all three were bubbled, all played through though with the odd "pop" pressed probably with recycled polymer. know two other copies in same condition, ive only ever seen one clean one, Geeoooordie
  11. Oops forgot to put, when i bought my three all demos, JM had sold an issue the day before he told me. Geeooooordie
  12. Have seen a Flyer for the portcullis in Barnsley back in 1976 with a photo stat of the startrek's on it, I git three off JM in 2005 for £50 a pop gave one away for a birthday prezzie to Gary Buckley who had always wanted it, sold one for £125 a month later and sold me other last year for £150, nice tune, See there are bargains to be had from JM Geeooordie
  13. ahhh Brett ever the philosopher, I must be deaf as i havent heard beloyd out for ages in fact about two years, i bloody love the tune. But yes with abit of imagination......huggins of 70's could be played.. but hey most of the tracks listed are great just overplayed....doesnt make em bad tunes though.....just a tad tired. Geeoooooordie
  14. There was a documentary on TV about a year ago and was visiting old soul venues i have forgotton what the documentary was called as i flicked through the channels about 11:30 one evening and lo and behold, footage of wigan, however they had people talking outside the locations of the wheel, the catacoombs and various other venues, they showed people dancing in the wheel, I had never seen the venue before so didnt realise how small it was, and showed clips of a couple of live artists, one i believe was lou Johnson (but i could be wrong) There was even footage of people in the catacoombs but the quality of the film was poor to the point you could just make out people who were wearing white. So there is some footage some where Geeooooordie
  15. For the missus - If I Had Known - freddie houston (makes me weep just to think those comments) Daughter N0 1 - Gene Toones - what more do you want (costs me a fortune) Mother in Law - Evil - Posse - (and i am being kind) My Mother - dean Martin - little old wine drinker me (my close pals know why) Geeoooordie

  17. Bought what good am i and what have i got now off Joe Dunlop 4 years ago £40 for both, due to personal reasons had to sell a lot of my collection last year and got £140 for what have i got now and £120 for what good am i on evil bay...wasnt so evil for me.. But your right simon should be £40 a pop for each not rare at all....but very in demand Geeoooordie
  18. I'll contact bri now if he's in and ask him to post both tracks Geooordie
  19. dave and Bri pinches have both versions and ive listened to both...the Blue Gatur is a totally different mix and if you play back to back the blue label release does not even sound like willie Tee...is it him????? any one who knows dave and bri Pinches will know they are Music (not just Soul) Gurus and even they cant believe its willie tee on the Blue label Gatur voice does not sound right in fact putting any of Willies tracks along side the difference is plain to hear totally different tone pitch and warble Geeoooordie
  20. WOOHHAAA Sundays were never the same when that ended what a night and what music, sometimes id kip in the car and go to "hot wax" records the next morning to see if Kev had any of the tunes he'd hammered in stock, Brilliant...still got me dodgy membership card in a wallet in a tea chest in the loft with load of other very early soul weekender t shirts and badges etc Those really wrer the days Geeoooordie
  21. just another for Me Gabin Feat De De Bridgewater - into your soul,,,,,blinding sound from late 2005 Geeoooordie
  22. strange but i heard these played theme from Joe 90 theme from the fantastic plastic machine and third window from the right Now why do i think no one will think playing those was weird, i did and thought they were pathetic to boot, especially when Dean barlow was a big rock n roll tune and is still played regularly on the rock n roll circuit. Geeooooordie
