  7. Hi looking to part with a few tunes.. Volumes - Same old feeling/trouble ive seen - Impact demo - water damaged label, pops and crackles surface marks on vinyl but actually plays pretty good (great double sider) £90 Falcons - Love look in her eyes - Big Wheel (green) - Ex (slight surface marks on vinyl not affecting play) £190 Ruby and the romantics - only heaven knows - ABC Demo EX+++ £80 Harry Starr - another time another place - END - EX+++ plays superb £250 Doug banks - kept on dancing - Argo Demo EX £100 The Arabians - Please take a chance on me - Le mans Demo wol otherwise EX £100 Montclairs - Hung up on your love - Paula - EX++ £70 Bunny sigler for crying out loud Decca issue NM - £200 I dont grade my items mint as i feel they have to be virtually new or unplayed for this and they have been played out at venues so it would be unfair to grade otherwise with sleeve wear etc. Thanks Geeooooordie
  8. IM CONTACTING GUINNESS TO SEE IF I CAN MAKE IT OFFICIAL THAT THIS HAS BECOME THEEE MOST BORING WEB BASED THREAD EVER GEEOOOOOOORDIE
  9. God almighty...but hey lets keep the thread going, you never know it might make the record books as the longest thread or most used net debate topic, or most boring EVER back in the old days of soul source and on the same sort of debate Sean Hampsey made a point about Original Format Only OFO and i agree with him on that, due to many modern sound being cd only..and as i love soul across the board and those who know myself and what we do at the Friendship and other nights it is either OVO or OFO Friendship OVO...modern nights etc OFO What gets me in the earlier thread many moons ago when Sean mentioned OFO, an OVO stalwart who had battled for OVO only typed..."ah i wouldnt play CDS and if a track was cd only id have them put on a carvers and play them off vinyl"!!!!...that made me piss myself, make your own jugements on that. the argument will rage forever, as its a matter of taste By the way...marmite..brown or tapped till its white or not at all..that is the question Geeooooordie BTW anyone going to the Karate weekend in primrose valley yorkshire on the 15th of may, if you are PM me and we'll hook have a beer debate OVO even further, as the missus is staying at home as she cant stand soul or Karate... what an auld fart
  10. Lawrence, I played it in January at his venue and steve openly announced on the mike after i played it that he didnt think much of it never mind ANDY..when this was released feb 2005, we (mark w and I) tried to push it like hell we put a thread on this site with a sound bite and got trounced and ridiculed...mediocre rubbish i think one person wrote..but we kept plugging away and ive played it in all but one of my spots since early 2005 i played it at york in 2005 as did mark W and IT got a real mixed reception mostly bad and again in jan 2007 and hey presto the ears had been opened up, it got a great response...I'll keep looking, i have a mate in northern france who digs up alsorts of goodies i got the last ones for dave n bri pinch and jonah from him so i'll give him a ring geeoooordie
  11. Hi Andy, The label is family affair released by EMI, they were distributed by a guy in france, crazybeat had most of the UK stock in 2005 it was a limited press, I had 5 copies but sadly they were all snapped up for a tenner. ive had it on a daily search as a whole cart load of people are after it however ive only turned up one in 9 months...try www.musicstack.com thats where i got my last one glad you like it Ive been pushing this for 4 years and its finally getting noticed Geeoooooordie PS you could always try Gabins album Mr Freedom as the soulful/jazz version is on there and there some very very nice tunes on it too
  12. I play what i love ...and p[eople who visit the friendship soul nights know what we (mark whiteley, myself) have to offer,.. many come for that something different rather than coming to hear run of the mill, however if im asked to dj away from the friendship i always make sure theres the odd floor filler just to keep it mixed up and ensure theres a bit for everyone Geeooordie
  13. Ive been clicking on the replay all week and had the show playing while ive been at work.... Totally blown away....1st time ive listened to the show ...superb.what an education ive had this week, If anyones interested Sean is our Guest at our Friendship Soul night's on saturday the 29th of November at the Kingstone Club Barnsley Geeooooordie
  14. Like i said....twonk Im not happy you belittling the death of my friend....im passionate about music and collecting and i collect originals only but its my collection and i collect what i want.... i dont belittle anybody elses preferences or bore them by ramming mine down others throats, hey you might like... nay prefer to wear womans original silk undies but i really dont want to know about it..neither do i care its all a matter of individual tastes and cares. Geeooordie
  15. Hi Rod yes i remember you coming over with mark bicknell on boxing day 2005 was a good night i have it videoed for posterior...we still run the friendship nights but at a different location now..our slant is "OVO" (as is my collection which has been going for over 30 odd years)...however it was to the detriment of attendances we lost our shirts on the friendship....we tried to play different tunes every month... kept it real and sometimes played to only 4 folk...but weve enjoyed keeping it real for 5 years and just love playing new music to like minded folk... I have no objections to going to another night/ venue and if i found out they played 2nd issues etc i wouldnt be that bothered as i know some people who collect who are on the skids of their arses financially and do love the music but want to collect vinyl and some of them who dj put together better sets with their collections and play from the heart than some of these so called "big hitter" collectors...ive groaned inwardly on many occaisions over the years at many a dj set that was played for rarities sake not musical quality sake....who gives a shit if its rare or original, if its a shit tune But hey..... is whinging if someone plays on original vinyl or boot vinyl going to bring my friend back whos just died of cancer...or give another mate a new kidney..is it shit...get real you twonks theres more to life than black plastic disks. im just sad that this debate is still going on on soul source sfter all these years .. and its got feck all to do with royalties etc etc any more.... its just borng elitism IMHO Cant the moderators ban threads like this as i might have to switch to the EMS web site full time if i see another one of these Geeoooooooordie
  16. Can i be pedantic...if its a 70's it would be Juke box as a duke box is a digital jukebox and were'nt invented in the 70's .......correct im being an asshole ...but hey its bank holiday friday ..n im in a silly mood Geeooooooordie
  17. ummmm didnt northern soul start where Rhythm n soul ended..which was only ended by a coin of Phrase by dave godin..and northern cant end..coz its a dance style not a music, so any music that fits the style will be classed as northern by the Northern scene ...ie the country sounds of barneby bye, and the rock n roll of dean barlow and the gospel/soul sounds of the early glenn jones or the disco sound of phylis hyman...that seemed to be classed as ".Northern" because they were played at a northern venue at some time or other, but they all were also played at discos clubs and rock and roll venues...surely none of the artists recorded them as northern as they wont of ever heard of it...... this is and has always been a bizarre state of affairs...I personnally dont class any record as a northern record just a record, whatever the genre, that gets played or accepted on the northern soul dance scene. so the scope is endless...and lends itself to a host of arguments..that bore the pants off me Geeooooordie
  18. if you've no luck i have one available give me a pm Geeooooordie
  19. spot on.....i was once asked once to play at a venue...only if i turned up and supported their venue and let them dj at the friendship (my old venue) first..... i told them to feck off ...when i read this i thowt ud overheard the conversation
  20. A listers??????....do they exist...do they b*llocks...its pretencious crap when people go on about..big sound coz so and so is playing it..so it must be good or someone talks about how fantastic their collection is i squirm the guy i admire is the guy/gal who works hard all week for feck all, n scrapes their last pennies together to buy the tune they love..isnt influenced by the massess loves all soul not just the dancers... isnt interested in impressing a bloody soul, loves their £1 tunes as much as their more expensive ones but can talk and understands their art and love with a passion...and dont pretend to know a tune when they dont! ive talked to one or two "big Hitters" who are clueless about soul in general apart from those with a price tag and play to impress, not to fill a floor and inevitably their set is a cobbled miss match. give me a true soul lover anyday and im tickled pick...feck the big buck tunes...or perceptions None pretentious people who are f**king A list gurus to me..Joe Dutton dave n Bri Pinch , angus oldfield, rory sykes, russ steele...they'll all kill me now, but their real life soul afficionados who live for their music , with no glam and most of you'll be saying "who are they".......EXACTLY...but i dont go on about them or swoon when they enter the room i just want to know when they are buying the next round Geeoooordie This comment was edited by site due to language used.
