  1. Must be a bad copy mines beautiful. Mark
  2. Just watched it and it confirms that David Ruffin is infact God awesome simply stunning..
  3. Sold pretty much all the big trophy tunes over the past few years since I stopped DJ'ing oin a regular basis, still collecting but to a lesser degree but still having fun getting little bits and bobs back alongside fresh stuff to me, don't think I'll ever stop buying records as it's something I've always done just wish I'd kept them all lol.
  4. This has nothing to do with being minted or even being a really rare track the point is that someone has paid 150.00 quid for at best a reissue when you can find the original Smash albuim for anythng fromm 50.00 to 100.00 getting the said track in it's original format and a blinding album, who says you have to be minted to collect? more to do with knowing the subject being able to learn and have your own mind rather than taking short cuts and paying way over the odds for something that has no actual collectable value more to do with must have than actually doing a little leg work and digging for the original album, of course people do what they do with their own money but this is just silly and a total waste of their hard earned, the funny thing is they could have got the album and had change to buy some other records lol Mark Bicknell.
  5. Some people make the rules up as they go along constantly moving the goal posts when it suits there total lack of understanding of the presentation of the original ethos of this music, what a kop out to say would rather have the 45 than the original album as it fits in their box lol we all know the only original format of this tune is album only, as for buying it for home use thats up to them I guess but to pay way over the odds for nothing more than a bootleg reissue at best is a joke trouble is it ain't even funny anymore totally clueless when the album is pretty easy to locate if you dig a little. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  6. Reminds me of some of the stuff I used to play when I was famous lol sublime records guys,
  7. Pretty much my story Ian to a lesser degree than you but certainly I can relate to most of the above, regret letting some of them go for then pennies which have become big ticket items but thats just down to time and when they were sold rather than anything to do with knowledge lol, never worth beating yourself up over records you once had at least we can say we had them lol Mark Bicknell.
  8. Shocked to read this Kim but totally know and understand where you are coming from, good sound advice from the likes of Andy etc. just to add to answer your original question as to who has the buying power pretty much all the names mentioned, being good pals with JM he's always pretty fair and won't tend to cherry pick, pays a premium for titles he does not have so might be worth a go if you do deside to sell. I've pretty much moved on all the big ticket items with no regrets really as when I stepped down from the full on DJ thing I simply could not justify sitting on thousands of pounds in records, do I like the music any less because I no longer own it no of course not, at the end of the day it's your choice and if you can remove the emotional attatchment rare soul generates then you will have no problem letting them go so make sure you are ready to sell them difference is I still like to pick up little bits and bobs and having a ball just not spending as much lol which seems to satisfy the collecting bug that pretty much remains with us at various levels. Regards - Mark.

Had my moments over the years Bettye Lavette in Detroit she cooked me soul food and ran me a bath after three or four days digging for records without washing lol, was the first one to meet Deon Jackson in a bar in Chicago years before major contact was made with him, tracked down Jimmy Burns also in Chicago and got a certain record off him on my return to the UK, had Barbara Acklin, Ruby Andrews, Larry Johnson, Marvin Smith and Jesse Bolin (Artistics) Sonny Saunders arranger/producer all together in Barbara Acklins appartment what a night that was Marvin Smith sang 'Have More Time' to me which was a dream he later drove me back to where I was staying and we listened to Marvin Gaye tunes on the radio, had breakfast once in a pancake house with Johnny Moore 'Walk Like A Man', 'Sold On You', 'It May Be Tears Of Joy' etc. etc. etc. fame and his producer Jack Daniels, saw Otis Clay perform in a small Blues club in Chicago one night met him and he remembered me when we met once before Alvin 'Twine Time' Cash was in the club with L.V.Johnson that was a long night I can tell you very very drunk Numerous other meets over the years.
