For me you can take away all the veneer, the baggies, the badges, the tack etc. and at the end of the day it's about a young 17 or 18 year old black singer or group standing at a microphone and the engineer says ok roll the tape counts them in and bang there you have it their dreams and aspirations of having a hit record, the pain, the heartache, the passion, basically was the single most fundamental thing which drew me in some 37 years ago, what comes across to me in some areas of the scene is the music is so far down the pecking order of priorities the whole point of why we are all involved is lost or certainly diluted.`
