That's made me chuckle Ivor, not really collecting as such anymore just dabble lol the last few couple of purchases were Ady's last batch of Kent/Select/Pied Piper 45's and the Motown Vol 2 Box Set lol

Think we should lose the elitist/exclusive mentality find the right balance of when to release the tracks gaining maximum allnighter plays and making the track available to people who appreciate it as a valid release on quality and merit, it's a bit like when a huge big ticket item turns up in quantity and is dropped like a stone by DJ's because it no longer has the mystic of being an exclusive/rare tune however the record is still the same tune and should not spoil it or make it any less of a record musically, more to do with having something very few others have than the actual tune?

Please keep them coming Ady, for me and I know similar mind set people adore and appreciate your findings, guidance and inspiration, not really being active anymore on the scene it's a joy to invest in the Kent/Select/Anniversary and Pied Piper 45's, anyone who deprives themselves of these wonderful recordings because they are not authentic 60's vintage originals in my book are total philistines, more the case the music should be judged and not it's format, you have got it right so many times over the past thirty years from the very inception of Kent to now so please don't stop or if you do at least do me a dub first lol

When I stopped DJing several years ago now I started to off load all the big stuff slowly over a period of time, always bought and sold when active on the scene to fund new records etc. I think it depends on many factors if you decide to sell, I didn't feel I could justify sitting on the likes of Jimmy Burns, George Blackwell, Cashmeres, Johnny Rodgers, Hayes Cotton and dozens more, I have firstly no regrets at all, miss them yes sometimes but it's funny I still collect little bits and bobs so it's certainly right about being in your blood, someone made the point of if you have big records it's nice to play them to an audience which from my perspective was very true as there is no better feeling in the world than sharing the music with others, if I won the lottery would I buy them back bet your life I would lol, not really being involved with the scene anymore certainly made selling some of the records easier as I think when you a caught up in the moment the thrill of DJ'ing the buzz of the scene chasing the next big tune etc. all plays it's part in the magic and passion for collecting, when it becomes less important and you can separate the emotional attachment to the records then that also makes it easier to part with them.

I was under the impression that Billy Smarts Circus went out of business years ago, how wrong was I, who gives a fig what you look like dancing, it's part of it sure but the fundamental most important aspect of the scene and it's been said a million times before is the music, all the rest of it is veneer, the common ground is the music as without that there would be no scene.
