Gee Shucks Dek of York, thanks for your kind comments, try to do the best i can when kindly asked to DJ out and about, hey guys and girls check out The Visitors - Never The Less on Tangerine OHHHHHHHHHH ! 3. Regarding Gene Toones Blue stock/issue Simco copy and Mark White will be able to confirm this, he sold it to me in the early 80's for a snip compared to today's prices think i got that and a George Freeman demo for about £45.00, i then sold both that and an Empire's Candi demo to Carl Fortnum for £805.00 for the pair around 1989 ish, i think Gary Spencer had the Gene Toones not sure? It was a blue lable printed directly onto the vinyl and the script/wording/title etc. was almost worn away, also it developed a slight hiss at the start, love to known who has this now. Hope this helps, regards - Mark Bicknell.
  4. Do we care? indeed we don't. Mark Bicknell.

  11. I'll add a little bit of Lavern Baker to the mix here.....love the duet 'Think Twice' fantastic record does this count...lol Also there is a brilliant X-rated version which has to be heard to be believed, Lavern asks Jackie if he likes chocolate ice cream and invites him to lick it.....wonderful stuff. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

  14. The records are far bigger and more important than the guys/girls who play them don't you think? Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  15. There's and old saying here if you got an elephant then some smart bootlegging bastard has a box to put it in, many piss in the same pot, so Ady please bring these bastards down, i have something here which may be of interest via a Coventry connection that a loud voice on here basically has f*** all to say, so don't push me please...pay your bills for bootlegs or shut the f*** up... regards - mark bicknell,
  16. Good record, old Stafford spin, bargain at £15.00 but £75.00 i don't think so sorry. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  17. A Bright, bright light has just gone out on the Northern Soul scene, I never knew Derek that well but he was always a gentleman infact a very gentle guy, he always had a kind word and was a joy to know. Sleep well Derek, you will always be in our hearts and Soul. Mark Bicknell
  18. Good thread this how about.... Billy Hambric - She Said Goodbye/I Found True Love - Drum Harry Starr - Another Time Another Place/Step Into My World - End The Dynamics - I Need Your Love/Love Me - RCA Victor The Ascots - Anytime/Sometimes I Wonder - Mir A Don and many many more.....I'll be back on this one. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  19. So lets do it then like a National Northern Soul poll, need to set it all up Mike but it would be interesting, don't think we would need boxing gloves at a possible AGM as a good old street fight would be oh so much fun...lol Could set the various sections up and give people three votes or nominations each i hope you can put something together. Regards - Mark Bicknell
  20. Mike, Serious now, how about a Soulsource 2004 National Northern Soul Adwards kind of deal, best venue, best weekender, best DJ, best live act, best radio show...lol, most popular magazine, maybe this would be a good way for all members to express their feelings and thoughts on the current scene......... just a thought, then maybe a National Northern Soul AGM or big event where all promoters, DJ's and Soul fans could get together air their views and present the adwards again just an idea.... Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  21. Heard placing a record between two pieces of glass in sun light can help lose a warp but never tried it but a practice for the summer perhaps, or perhaps in spain etc. Personally if a warp does not spoil a record then best leave it as it is me thinks. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  22. Bold, Ariel, Daz, Ajax,Persil, wire wool etc. all of these products pretty much f*** up any records....... or that purple stuff i once bought from record collector basically sprit based add to water type of stuff worked ok, but you can't beat washing up liquid in water, might not get rid of the hiss, cracks, pops and crap etc. but makes them smell beautiful. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  23. One that always gets the hands clapping and atmosphere going and strangly it's down tempo but captures a room to work together as one is The Martell's - Where Can My Baby Be - A La Carte, blinding record that has it all. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  24. Shame we don't have the clap now...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell
  25. Just to confirm that the original of this has the blue script boots are black script, very hard to find as pointed out even on a pressing, picked mine up a couple of years ago from a gentleman in Sweden of all places for a very reasonable $250.00 which i understand to be a bit of a bargain, played it out again several times and it seems to go down very well. Took me over twenty years to locate a copy, never see this listed so possibly a genuine rare 45. Has to be a solid £500.00 record and worth every penny for a solid double header. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
