  1. I think you are possibly looking at a very hard original here to locate, it was pressed way back and even they are pretty hard to find, i picked up my copy only about three years ago from a dealer in Sweden for $250.00 which i understand to be bargain basement stuff, you got to be looking at mid hundreds i would think £3/400.00 at least, far harder to find than some of the four figure sum records out there. Originals are deep green with blue script and the boots have black script. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  2. Thinking about it 'Pikeys Dog' i've seen more BDR than MJY out there so i reckon your value could be about right or shall we say somewhere between Chalky's and yours, given a few spins out and about this record would take off i'm sure. Mark Bicknell.
  3. Well thats ok then...just thought the general grammer etc. was pretty basic to say the least and seems a strange way to gain support to this cause when infact it could have been done more direct with an open request as i said. Still people can choose what they do and support this if they wish i guess, i just thought it was interesting and needed to be shared. Mark Bicknell.
  4. Mighty Joe Young is a fantastic record, always rated this, I think Chalky is right with his price guide, however given some turntable action who knows??? Big Daddy Rogers was once a £15.00 record and i agree MJY is very my in that style and is a quality tune. Mark Bicknell.
  5. With the huge amount of internet scams it's best advised not to access links etc. as you could end up in hot water, i simply wanted to bring this to peoples attention, i'm not judging this either way but if there was a genuine fund would not it have been better to openly publish the details on this forum and others? Mark Bicknell.

  7. Brett, Jamie! 'Whats Wrong With You Babies' get it...lol THEIR OTHER RECORD!!!! I'll get me coat....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  8. Keep the faith.......bollocks! Mark Bicknell.
  9. If you have the records and yes a wee bit of talent and know how to string a set together then age has sod all to do with it! Breaking into DJ'ing on the scene today is far easier and more open house than it used to be, it was almost a closed shop way back which was bullshit but it happened, believe in your records, believe in yourself and the rest is easy.....well almost. regards - Mark Bicknell.
  10. What's my original KKC issue worth then?????? makes you think what's the point really! Mark Bicknell.
  11. Brett, what i feel about this or other records has nothing to do with what someone else wishes to spend, it's the old chestnut 'a record is only worth what someone wishes to pay for it', personally i never buy records i do not like whatever the value, my point has nothing to do with the record, it's quality or even how rare it might be it's simply more to do with personal taste and again if this record floats the bidders boat then fair play. Mark Bicknell.
  12. The point has nothing to do with if it's crap or not my point is who are we to question how or what people collect and how much they spend it has nothing to do with us as collecting is a very personal thing, how would you feel if someone questioned how and what you collected? I do not have an opinion on the quality of this record as i have moved on from such records but to question the methods of other people seems to be a regualr passtime on this forum, basically i take your points of the ridiculous prices of such records but if we choose not to get involved then whats the problem if someone else wishes to own such a record for whatever reasons. And one other thing there are many questionable records which are championed on this scene which are far more offencive than this one.......we don't all know it all guys and i really take offence to the idea of having a pop at someones freedom to buy what they want and the quality, style or price has nothing to do with anyone else. Mark Bicknell.
  13. No Brett collectors i think is the correct and proper term here, perhaps they collect what they want rather than what other people think they should or tell them too, it may not be what we all consider to be trendy or in vouge but if a record whatever the style or era still floats someones boat then who are we to question that, perhaps there should be more concern here with the record prices and the possible danger of when our generation finishes with this music then the prices will implode and perhaps get back to some reasonable level...still i guess it depends if we are buying into the true appreciation of the music or the trophy hunting ethic, whichever i find it all a little trait and quite disturbing to be honest, we are losing sight of why we are into this music are we not? it's about the tunes, discovery and enjoyment and if spending £300.00 on The Invitations is waht someone wants to do in his or her pursuit of enjoying what they do then good on them. Mark Bicknell.
  14. Fools!!!!! i don't think they are fools, perhaps rebuilding their old collections or something else, it's a strange scene but all are driven who collect records to chase whatever the title. Mark Bicknell.
  15. Is this not because this record is quite rare, seems to be two issues here collecting and the current scene, not everyone's bag perhaps but if someone is prepared to pay whatever then that's up tp them don't you thnk? Collecting records and the current scene seem to be worlds apart, quite frankly it's all gone made and basically you don't have to subscribe to it, simply do your own thing otherwise it will push you over the edge and in the end you could end up hating it. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  16. Again Christian a very decent thing to do, it's nice to help each other out. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  17. I mean a request was made to locate a 45 and you have come up with a copy, i just feel this is a perfect way to do things, nothing negative Christian just a nice gesture on your part to be able to supply someone with a want. Fantastic - Mark Bicknell.
  18. Nice way for a thread to end, well done Christian. Mark Bicknell.
  19. I have a promo of this, always thought it possibly one of the harder Deon Jackson 45's to locate, no idea of it's current price but it should not be a fortune......still with the current prices who really knows. Mark Bicknell.
  20. It seems to me that the value of a record or it's ethos is far more important than the actual music content for some people, sure value is important when buying and selling but these things are not trophys they are pieces of music, i feel often this is lost as it seems to be more about 'look what i got' and 'look how much this cost me', half the fun of collecting the records has now gone because many titles are out of the reach of the majority of people on the scene, i never thought i would say this but for me now i embrace the music rather than than the paper lable sure will always have the original format head on as a DJ but if i can enjoy the music the best way i can and if that means enjoying certain tracks say on CD then so be it, shoot me down in flames if you like, like i give a f*** anymore....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  21. So was the one i had Ted...records like this tend to do the rounds over the years, i remember the copy i had of The Twans having several homes before it got to me via Dave Greet i think.......wonderful this record collecting lark. Mark Bicknell.
  22. Pete, Can confirm there is an issue/stock of Gene Toones, i had it way back bought for £40.00 from a good friend of mine Mark White around early mid 80's later sold it for £300.00 to Carl Fortnum think he still has it? as far as i am aware i think there are possible 2/3 known issues out there so rare as rocking horse droppings mate, thought i did well way back sold it around 1990, not paper label either printed straight onto the vinyl like Maxx stuff for example - deep navy blue label, lettering in silver which was worn away on my copy also had seen better days condition wise, slight noise, possible styrene can't remember but can confirm a very hard record to find, possibly add another zero to my selling price, just one of many records i have had through my hands over the years, still all part of the game.....well that's what i tell myself anyway...lol Empires, Imperial C's, Eric Mercury.......I'll get my coat. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
