  3. I've always claimed to favour male records with a real soft spot for the vocal groups, Falcons, Volumes, Hesitations, Artistics,Dells etc. etc. but when looking through the collection recently i noticed i have rather a lot of female/girl group records and started to play a seesion back to back and what a buzz, great fun. Might make for an interesting thread, so get looking through those boxes. Madeline Wilson - Dial "L" For Lonley - Samar - Fantastic record out of Rochester NY, has it all, mood, voice simply perfection. The Darlings - Two Time Loser - Kay-Ko also Mercury - Awesome early production with that something just a little bit special. The Valons - "You're Something Special - Mark III - As above a very early track out of Newark, New Jersey, possibly an old Stafford spin. The Star Treks - Gonna Need Magic - Veep - Surperb Philly record that never really went as big as it should, needs playing more at the oldies venues. The Mamselles - Open Up Your Heart (Let Love Out) ABC - Another record yet to have it's day at the venues, very hard ABC number to locate but well worth the hunt. The Bobbettes - Having Fun - RCA - Crunching uptempo girl group proper Northern Soul from the 'Happy Go Lucky Me' girls, first class. The Vashonettes - A Mighty Good Lover - Checker - Awesome Chicago again this one has it all. Quite hard to find being one of the lesser known Checker numbers. Suger And The Spices - Have Faith In Me - Swan - Records as good as this take me to another place, i know this one is on many want's list and rightly so, hard to find now due to huge demand but well worth a couple of hundred quid of anyone's money....lol The Atlantics - What So Good About Goodbye - Marquee - Written and also recorded by Smokey Robinson this is division one girls at their awesome very best, hard to find and a quality record. The Sweet Three - That's The Way It Is (When A Girl's In Love) - Decca - A beautiful record that has had some turntable action but not enough IMO, written by Leon Huff producing the perfect song from the golden era of the mid 60's. A perfect ten and most enjoyable also inspiration for a future Solar show..lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  4. Singing Sam - Move It Baby - Dan-dy - second copy only £30.00 once a tenner i know...lol The Darlings - Two Time Loser - Kay - Ko More from the postie this week i hope...lol Mark Bicknell.

Personally i would bring the police in get it to court then publically name and shame the bastard, stealing is bad enough but stealing records just goes against everything we stand for on this scene, it's just another negative that i really have no time for. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  11. Russ, From what i understand via an email from the production company recently which said that the film was going into production around March time, as for an American release who knows???? Also in the treatment they sent me seems that Kevin Roberts is involved as musical advisor etc. i'm sure Kev will be able to shed more light on the progress of the project. Regards - Mark Bicknell
  12. I'm on my second copy in twenty years sold the first one for £300.00 way back and thought i was doing well, as the years went by i just had to get it back and paid around £250.00 for the copy i have now, no not selling it as i ain't got too many records left like this...lol awesome Detroit and who the hell is Johnny Rodgers?????? Mark Bicknell.
  13. I think on this one a red stock/issue USA copy is the best safe bet on the original authentic front, it was booted as a copy white promo which i had years ago, hope this helps. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  14. Wow Clare, thanks for your kind comments, we will get together soon and will explain then in greater detail, never say never but for the time being i'm just sticking with my Solar radio show on Sunday nights, you and Rod are dear friends of ours even though he is a tosser but nice with it...lol thanks again. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

I think we chatted about him when you were over here a bit back, seems he's not that well known, like i said i've not heard from him in ages...any wonder after Rufus Wood....lol Mark Bicknell.

Yes......but i'm not telling you...lol however from what i understand this chap was much older and a collector with nothing to do with the Northern scene. Regards - Mark Bicknell. oh and he's not contacted me since...lol

Well if a pressing can sell for over a ton then a first generation original must be mid hundreds as was stated at the top of this thread, personally i think it's a little more than that, perhaps a genuine big ticket item based on firstly it's quality, secondly two superb sides and thirdly it hardly ever comes up for sale or auction. Mark Bicknell.

Double conformation from a man who knows his onions and his records, still a hard second pressing to locate and this ebay sale confirms that. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

Cheers Ian, well if Joe has never seen or had an original then it must be really hard to find...i got one only three or four years ago from a dealer in Sweden of all places, almost choked when he sent me a scan of it and a bargain at $250.00 USA dollars...again two great sides. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

Yeh the flip is called 'Ghettoville' a much more crunching uptempo proper R'n'B kind of track. Regards - Mark Bicknell. Then if that's the case it's a pressing. Mark Bicknell.

It is a very hard original to locate and £500.00 i guess is a good ballpark start figure to work off, now either someone has a bargain here or the prices have finally dropped through the floor or is this a bootleg?originals green with blue script and the bootleg is green with black script, from what i understand pressings of this fantastic double header are not that common and it would not suprise me that someone would be prepared to pay £107.00 for one. Regards - Mark Bicknell. Forget my above comments re bootleg as if it's from Joe then no worries about that...someones got a bargain for sure. Mark Bicknell.
  24. Big sorry and thanks also to Jon and Sue Buck as i won't be able to make the Leighton Buzzard reunion over Easter and also to Steve Plumb, Flanny and Barry at The Orwell Alldayer, Wigan on Easter Sunday, that pretty much covers all the future gigs, thanks also to everyone on here for your kind words and comments. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  25. Mine is the true one off Roger's is a dub trust me...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
