Mark Bicknell.

  7. I never said you were taking issue mate...lol sometimes things come over on here as a little harsh my fault in the way i replied...fantastic record though proper Northern as we say...lol Mark Bicknell.
  8. I'm pretty sure that somewhere down the line i read or was told that Little Ritchie was white, either way it matters very little as the end result was top draw Northern. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  9. Do you mean out and out pop records or so called blue eyed soul records? bit of a difference there me thinks, when you consider how many so called big Northern records are infact by white or non afro American artists? Are we talking Paul Anka here or Little Ritchie? both white but worlds apart, or are you talking some of the dross played as Northern over the years...yes i said dross, still there are plenty of dross Black records too so it's a pretty even playing field sometimes lol...long live Lou Roberts, Buck Rogers, Jay Traynor etc. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  10. I'm shocked Gene....is it not the fundimental most important part of being into the music to actually listen, feel and understand the lyrics...i sit alone hours on end sometimes with a set of headphones on trying to soak up every heartfelt emotion that this music can project......possibly why i'm such a moody sad bastard i know.....lol Some of these songs are simply poetry...i've said it before to sing about it you have had to live...i feel many of the performers did just that. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  11. John, I've sent you a couple of emails regarding Rose St.John, just checked my copy plays fine but looks as though it's seen better days...lol get in touch. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  12. Best we forget British issues hey Mark...lol Mark Bicknell.
  13. Bollocks i say total bollocks. Mark Bicknell.
  14. Will the music at the new venue be in line with the old stock footage being used...lol Mark Bicknell.
  15. £20.00 for a pink demo, half that for a stock copy/issue still i could be way out...lol Mark Bicknell.
  16. Gene....so you got a Pink sweater to then mate?, i bet you look better than me in yours though Mark Bicknell.
  17. Good luck with this project Grant, hope it all goes well. Mark Bicknell.
  18. Travis Womack - Scratchy....what's that all about then????? Mark Bicknell.
  19. It's all the shouting on BW, all the 'Huuhs's' that spoil it for me Ted, perhaps BW had no knackers mate...lol Mark Bicknell.
  20. And who got behind Curly Moore first then???? superb point here mate, cost me £8.00 from Glen Brierley at Tony's Blackburn a good few years ago now, funny how you can remember when, where and how much you paid for records yet sometimes i can't even remember my name...lol got behind this record played it out a few times then well it went mental, same for Reggie Alexander for me way back at Keele etc. Basically we have to accept how things are now or you may as well sell up tomorow, dig hard buy what floats your own personal boat and all should be well. Mark Bicknell.
  21. As i said Kev cool my comments and good wishes are totally sincere, it just read that you were on every night from 8pm sorry my mistake, room for all styles and i'm sure Solar will survive well let's hope so otherwise little old turntable spinners like me will be out of a job, still it's not a job more a labour of love....oh they offered me your Saturday spot by the way but i declined as i'm happy to stay where i am for the time being plus who could fill your shoes......lol Again all the very best - Mark Bicknell.
  22. A fiver Ted....bugger i got ripped off then as i paid £8.00 for mine off Soul Bowl....oh well like i've always said Bernie Williams for show and Gene Woodbury can sing....lol. Mark Bicknell.
  23. Baz, I totally agree with you mate, i'm currently soughting out a few things to move on but i'm scared to price them to be honest, made mistakes in the past but that's part of the game i guess, i think it's on the slide as you say on certain titles, too many of them in circulation, not half as rare as people think even on some of the so called big ticket items, bit when you see records like 'Gene Woodbury' for example selling on a recent auction for over £300.00 it really makes you think, not the fault of the seller more perhaps to do with a combination of things, Ebay, price guides etc. etc. one question what are we going to do when the bottom does fall apart with this? perhaps the hardcore soul fans/collectors won't mind as the records were bought for enjoyment and love rather than an investment or ego trip....strange world this Northern Soul lark......lol Mark Bicknell.
  24. 8pm Kev......that's cool even on a Sunday night....lol even cooler good luck Kev see you at the Golden Globes....lol at least we did'nt clash on Solar but hey as you would say that's the biz we call show. Sincere best wishes with the new station, i hope all the hard work, commitment, time and exspence pays off. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
