  6. There is a joke in here somewhere? something like 'Cooking Fat'.....lol, our wives are out of the same mold Rod, well they should be they have been friends for years, Jacqui said exactly the same thing when we got our two cat's....good company for each other and all that kinda bollocks, now we have two animals that do nothing to contribute to the family, they don't work, do bugger all except eat, shit and sleep i hate the little bastards....lol Mark Bicknell.
  7. I have loads of fun looking and checking sound clips on several sites, great, rewarding and can be a cheaper option, i don't really go to that many venues and have never really been into looking through hundreds of boxes.Enjoy the odd visit to Manchester on my day off to check out the couple of well known shops there and always come away with a couple of little gems, other wise it's the regular list method and the odd punt for the more hard to find 45's. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  8. Hi Dan, There is an Era DJ copy on John Manship's site at £50.00, pretty sure it's available, give him a call and check first, also check out Tommy Mosley's Uptown 45 'For Her Love' fantastic double header. Hope this helps - reagads - Mark Bicknell.
  9. Second shelf down about ten records in.....lol i think?, i'm so glad i've not got as many records as the likes of Ged Parker, Mr Speakman etc. must be scary having all those second issue British records hey Mark....lol I'll dig The Vontastics out Ian and play it on the show Easter Sunday that's if i can find it...lol Mark Bicknell.
  10. Got to be a couple of hundred quid these days perhaps a bit more, still i could be way off with prices as they are. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  11. Depends on if you want to simply collect and enjoy the music on any format or if you want to go for the original big ticket originals, if money is no object then go for the later or if you are on a budget there are still hundreds of beautiful records out there to discover, collect and enjoy without breaking the bank. Either way the bug never goes away does it?? Happy collecting - regards - Mark Bicknell.
  12. You are funny Dave, cost me a bit more than 8 quid...lol Mark Bicknell.

  21. Pete...As Steve Mancha say's at the end of 'Monday Through Thursday'...turn it over, turn the record over....i think you know where i'm coming from...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  22. Wanted if any kind soul can help? Entertainers IV - Getting Back Into Circulation - Dore # 759 with 'My Garden Of Eden' Flip - Cheers to Pete Fowler for that information - Don't ask! lol have to have this record - bicknellmark@aol.com or telephone 0161 330 6267 - still looking for The Heartbreakers on Derby City no luck as yet. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  23. I should be at work but i'm having a day with the Queen as my old Dad used to say AKA pulled a sicky...lol As promised here's a selection of five which just might do the trick. The Whispers - Needle In A Haystack - Soul Clock 1004 - Not to be confused with the Motown girly thingy song, this is right up Mr Franklin's street, simply quality and you will be pushed to find a better 15 quid record.Possibly over looked because of the title, but when you consider The Whispers huge talent i.e. 'The Dip', 'Remember' etc. then this is a must record to check out. The Festivals - You've Got The Makings Of A Lover - Smash 2091 - Much easier to locate than their brilliant double header Checkin' Out/Hey Girl for Blue Rock but quailty again all the same, sweet vocals and a great song and again you would be pushed to find a better record this time at 20 quid, 'Music' by them also on Smash is a nice Northern dancer also cheap and well worth a listen. Cicero Blake - See What Tomorrow Brings - Success 108 - Great record, stunning vocal, moody and just does it for me also again it won't break the bank. Jimmy Norman - I'm Leaving (This Old Town) - Mercury 72727 - This guy made some pretty awesome records for the likes of Little Star, Samar, Mercury etc. 'Family Tree' has become a pretty well known record in recent years which has it all for me, this one however needs some turntable action, simply brilliant, huge voice, thumping mid tempo back beat, it's hard edge SOUL made in heaven, seen this listed for around £100.00 which is a bargain in my book as it's quality suggests a much higher ticket price. Buckner Brothers - Love You From The Bottom Of My Heart B/W A Change Is Gonna Come - Sanla 3001 - A Gem of a double header out of Chicago, i picked this up several years ago in a shop in Manchester for 15 quid, perhaps all it's money as i suspect there are plenty of copies out there, but when snapped up this will be yet another hard to find 45, again needs some plays out and about - BOTH SIDES. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  24. As Mr Franklin kindly pointed out i have played Harry Starr more on the show rather than out at the gigs, has to be one of the best down tempo emotional tracks ever, also hold the Patti Drew 45 in my collection another very under rated tune that should get more turntable action. Good thread this will be back later with a selection of five that deserve a mention and a few spins. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  25. Well Joan I'm simple and this is a request...lol Mark Bicknell.
