  1. Fan'bloody'tastic Dave, credit where credit is due this magazine is head and shoulders above the rest as it's simply dedicated to what really matters 'the music' and the people that made it...awesome read as ever read it last night from cover to cover...you just can't put it down once you start reading it...cheers for the two extra copies Dave as ever will preview and do a little competition on the show for you. Regards - Mark Bicknell. Ps - Mike Terry is God.
  2. Sorry Ted had mine years mate, still one of those tunes that you never get fed up with, quality act, quality tune and a stocker has to be ten times harder to find than the demo? i'm sure you will find one? Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  3. Good record sir, should be pretty easy to locate? Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  4. I think you have just missed a white demo on JM's auction, still that's no real help is it, i just can't part with my blue stocker but i'm sure someone out there will come to the rescue Ted. Regards - Mark Bicknell
  5. I have a white demo of this somewhere, just curious to it's value? Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  6. I did say i would not post any further issues or problems to do with sponsorship or funding of the 'Soul Shack' show as i really hate the 'begging bowl' approach but i find myself in the same dark place with regards funding the show as i was back in September of last year, the response to my post then was fantastic with direct donations from people, fund raising events in London and at The Orwell in Wigan, i have this constant problem as the show needs to self fund and again here i am again with enough funds in the kitty left which takes me to the end of May. Basically all specialist shows on Solar have to be self funding, it's the way it works, i wish it was different but it's not so from time to time well basically from day one back in November 2000 when i first started i had to either self fund or find backers, donations and sponsorship. The show is now well into it's 7th year and i really don't want to give up doing it, believe me i have self funded, had fantastic support in the past from 'Friends Of The Soul Shack' who have sponsored me and made direct donations which has helped so much in keeping the show going, i always sport the corner of many Soul events with regular mentions and give full previews/reviews to all reissue 45's/CD's, Magazines etc. and will continue to do so, so the bottom line is i again need some help either long or short term. If you can help please get in touch bicknellmark@aol.com or telephone 0161 330 6267 So if you have a publication, record list, reissue company, record label, venue etc. then this plea may be of interest to you. As i say i hate having to ask the scene of this but if i can not generate some further funding then the future of the show could be uncertain, i will do my best to keep things ticking over but without a decent injection of funding it may be totally out of my hands, of course if you don't listen to the show then this statement will not be relevent and nor do i wish anyone to donate or sponsor because they feel they have too more basically if they want too. I try to present an authentic mix of music every Sunday for two hours, i know i have many friends out there who enjoy the show and it's for them i want to stay on air, i'll do all i can to survive this problem, sell a few tunes, fund raise and basically do what it takes to keep it going but if i can't turn this around one more time then i'm deeply sorry if the show ends. I can offer a little deal which may appeal to promoters of Soul events where i will mention the event (a good plug) for four weeks leading up to the event at £20.00 basically £5.00 a mention, helps the gig and helps me, one or two people have already shown interest in this idea so thanks to them, please i'm not looking for something for nothing here i just need ideas and help to drum up some funds to keep the show alive, out of all the stuff i do on this scene the show is now by far the most rewarding and i would like to think enjoyed by people who tune in every week so if you can help please get in touch bicknellmark@aol.com I have sent out a generic email to pretty much everyone in my mailbox regarding this so sorry to those of you for the direct approach but i really have no choice here simply without help i may struggle to keep the show, it's important to me and i will do all i can to secure the shows future, please no negative comments, ideas and constructive comments are more than welcome. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  7. Thanks to Martyn from 'The Hull Soul Club' who will be featured in the new 'Soul And Inspiration' section of the show over the next few weeks, anyone else wishing to include their club then please get in touch...bugger me it's free....lol bicknellmark@aol.com www.solarradio.com Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  8. As far as the music goes the best time has to be now the present as we can select from all the best bits over the past four decades and enjoy the lesser knowns, unknowns, semi knowns, all of it in fact, scene wise i have no comment. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  9. The first 'Soul And Inspiration', spot light on 'Different Kettle Of Fish' event in Peterborough will go out on Sunday May 27th, will include full details on venue and selections played there www.solarradio.com Again i'm happy to do this for most venues so please get in touch with all the details, dates, DJ's, music policy, examples of playlists, location of venue, contacts etc. www.solarradio.com email bicknellmark@aol.com Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  10. I was gonna mention the 'Williams and Watson' LP too, good point Joe, i think the cut is the same on 'Ain't Gonna Move' but will check it now or rather best you check it Tony....lol but i think it's the same. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  11. Tony, got the message from you and have sent reply, will package up Jowat 45 and send to you at Ace tomorrow consider it done, i'm pretty sure Mace, Joe, Johnny etc. will be able to help you with the others. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  12. Just a thought Tony 'Mace' also from Stoke may have this record certainly the type of thing he collectors and i'm sure he will know if Johnny Beggs still has it certainly worth a go mate. Also Joe Dutton AKA 'Pikeys Dog' may be able to point you in the right direction. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  13. Tony, I'm pretty sure Johnny Beggs from Stoke had the 'Big Bad Wolf' 45 but it was sometime ago, he may still have it, pretty sure one or two will have it on here? Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  14. Tone, I have Jowat 'Ain't Gonna Move' very clean copy...let me know how i can help. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  15. Sorry Trev not for sale at this time, took me ages to get this one, the 'Dukester' did me a huge favour selling me this one. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  16. Just trying to contribute all i can for everyone who cares to send me the information, i'm far more happy to develop the shows content than actually DJ'ing out and about, just trying to do my bit where i can. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  17. 'Soul And Inspiration' will be a new regular feature in the 'Soul Shack' www.solarradio.com basically a venue spot light not only mentioning the gig but also playing some examples of the play lists and music policy of the events, perhaps inviting some of the promoters and DJ's into the 'Shack' from time to time, it will be a pleasure to do this so if you run a gig please feel free to contact me with all the venue details, future dates, location, music policy, DJ's and some examples of current spins and i will do my best to present like an audio spot light on the club in hope that it gives a real flavour of the promotion. I hope you find this a constructive idea and of some use and help. The first 'Soul And Inspiration' spot light will be the new 'Different Kettle Of Fish' event in Peterborough leading up to their second night on June 22nd. Please feel free to contact me with any information bicknellmark@aol.com Regards - Mark Bicknell.

  20. Better still why don't we get 'The Brothers Of Soul' over here for a couple of gigs, i'll give it a go not had a challenge like this since we had 'Bettye Lavette' over to perform at The Winter Gardens. Blackpool a few years back and you may remember how busy that was.....lol takes a good six months to plan and promote but what a gig that would be? Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  21. I have the cartoon design but the orange one i thought was also authentic??? was it ever booted/pressed??? looks the same design as The Sunlovers - My Poor Heart, i'm sure JM or someone will confirm this but was this record ever big enough on the scene to boot anyway??? still a fantastic tune and i've seen the cartoon design listed for sale for a couple of hundred quid very recently.
