  1. So i got a deal then Ted at £70.00? lol, agree flip is well worth a mention, two fine sides and rare too. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  2. That suprises me Pete, i thought it would have flown out, as you say a very hard to find record indeed, makes you think when you see far lesser records in terms of rarity selling for inflated prices almost on a daily basis, offer something that is rare and a quality tune and you struggler, still don't give it away no need to mate. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  3. A few mates thought i was crazy buying this for seventy quid back in 1990/91, i knew then and i still know now that this is without question a prime example of a rare record, i think when Melvin Davis appeared at Prestatyn about three years ago that maybe three or four people asked him to sign their copy which says it all really. This should already be sold IMO but if not snap it up now it's just about as good as it gets. (And yes i've still got mine...lol) Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  4. I rather think patches etc. are simply part of the memrobilia aspect of the scene as are old flyers, magazines etc. i still have one or two in a montage type picture frame affair which sits on the wall alongside framed autographs of Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Bettye Lavette etc. etc. good to look at and part of our history, look a little silly now on a shirt but each to their own and all that. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  5. Now there's a thought, a 'Northern Soul Tea Dance' could catch on...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.

  7. Is that John Smiths???? lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  8. Why are you all giving this idiot so much attention here? he's not important enough to even worry about infact consider this coverage so typical of television people and has - been pop stars, the media often feel that they have to pad things out with these actually quite sad people, they were not there, they did'nt go or contribute to the scene in any way shape or form, they fail to understand it nor will they ever as long as they have a hole in their arse, Hucknall never went, Rowland never went, Elms never went, Jazzy B deffo never went, Weller never went so why oh why do they interview them on a subject they have no knowledge of or experence of? i tell you why because they the TV people that is feel they need to make it 'street' and give it substance, Jazzy B made himself look stupid as often people like this in truth have no substence themselves so anything he said or says now or in the future is at best very confused and totally without any credability..'Soul To Soul' don't make me laugh nor insult us, you will never understand what the word Soul means sir and this has nothing to do with colour as it's something a little deeper than that. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

  17. Seems we are not alone then with this one, really looking forward to Saturday, even spent a couple of hours tonight putting a 200 box together so we take it as serious as getting ready for a regular gig. Good mixture of tuneage, even got the Fosters ready cooling in the fridge...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  18. I know there are more soul nights, weekenders, Allnighters etc. than you can shake a stick at which is a good state of affairs and is very much keeping the scene going but i was wondering how many people out there on the scene get together with a few very close friends from time to time, some nice food a few cold ones (well a lot of cold ones actually....lol) a set of decks and some tunes and basically go for it to the wee small hours, ok it's not the same as perhaps going to a organised vene but in my experence over the past few years we have had some classic nights at various houses within our close group of friends. Going to one of these house parties this coming Saturday with maybe 30 to 40 like minded friends, a few of us bring the tunes, we play what we like and it can get very interesting musically with plenty of quality tunes from all eras and styles, is this something that other people do or are we just getting old? lol It's nice to get together with friends and play a few tunes, talk bollocks about records and the scene allnight and we often all end up singing very loudly to the likes of Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes - 'Get Out' at 3am, dancing in the kitchen and generally having a good laugh. The DJ'ing side of this is although fun still done with the same passion as at a venue but there are no restrictions as it's a chance to really get into the records from a different perspective, certainly another nice way to enjoy the music with a few good friends. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  19. Should the issue here be to question and challenge the source of where these things are being made? i.e. these 'one off' carver places as they seem to pretty much cut anything if people are prepared to pay for it without questioning the ownership or legal stand point, as well as the people that actually know it is wrong in the first place who seem to constantly abuse the ethics behind this. The fact is if you don't have direct permission or ownership of a track and it's fully paid up and above board then it's simply wrong to produce even a one off copy. To challenge or question Ebay for allowing these type of records to be listed for sale if you can call them records? it seems is a total waste of time as they can't be bothered to take action or withdraw these items from sale as we have seen this type of stuff being sold on there time and time again and nothing is done to stop it! Who wants these? who buys them? and why? there are both the issued version of 'Someone Tell Her' and the alt take on a legit Philly CD, so does this not surfice as a legit way to enjoy the tune/s? since selling my demo back is 1991/92 which was a big regret i was made up when the CD came out as i was able to enjoy the tune once again at home, it did'nt even enter my head to suddenly think oh goody now i can get one cut off the CD and play it out, respect the collectors and DJ's too much who have the real deal to do that and far too much respect to the legal and moral aspects of this issue, i suggest the only way to stamp out this is not to subscribe to this, simply if there is no market for this then i would like to think that it will stop? remember your not buying the Imperial C's here your buying a fake both cheating the group and yourself. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
