  1. Just curious to the value of a Omen Demo?. am i right in thinking that it's rarer on Omen than Vault? I paid around a ton for mine several years ago, is that about it's money now? Regards - Mark Bicknell
  2. I think out of all the replies to this thread this confirms above others despite whatever our circumstances and commitments in our lives is that the music is there always....priceless reply thank you. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  3. I think you can be passionate and fanatical about any form of music, for example some of you may know that my late father Alf Bicknell used to work for The Beatles from 1964 through to 1966 when they stopped touring, for many years from about 1990 my Dad was invited to the many Beatles conventions as a special guest speaker around the world which i was lucky enough to go with him on several occassions, now let me tell you Beatle fans are as commited and passionate as anyone perhaps more so, collecting the records, memrobilia, autographs etc. in Chicago the first time we went there must have been seven thousand people there. Any band or music style has it's hard core fans some are more serious than others but i suspect it's the music that drives them firstly and then the desire to know everything, collect everything the band/artists/music produces, there are fanatics i would suspect on pretty much every entrtainer, band and music style out there be it Cliff Richard, Queen, Abba, The Rolling Stones etc. etc. Music is certainly the food of life just that Northern/Rare Soul is our Holy Grail...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  4. You did Mace, then i got JM new book and thought bugger books at £250.00 but as we discussed when doing the deal £100.00 was about right for both of us, you got the record i was happy it went to a mate job done, not a bad price for a record i picked up in Chicago years ago for a couple of Bucks which pretty much sat on one of the shelves for years...lol sorry just trying to justify the sale and losing out on £150.00 lol only joking, it might book at £250.00 but as JM and others have stated these price guides are simply that a guide, swings and slides and all that....Mace be affraid be very affraid...lol I used the money from selling this to Mace to secure a demo of The Continental Showstoppers - 'I'm Not Too Young' which is a record I play and the Little Oscar I did not, so like i say swings and slides. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  5. You love it Ken...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  6. Well, firstly we only have one child, secondly we have two cats so they will both need a service...lol can't believe you would even consider smashing my records to bits not very soulful is it? lol, the off your face comment however would be a consideration, shag my arse again! as long as i can have my go before the cats, lets skip the work comment scew em' so yes very much up for it! DDA sounds and looks the dogs so yes you are right better to do than talk about it, can't help thinking it was almost too good to be true for this thread to run without incident...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  7. Don't sell beds anymore mate it's sofas, not selling anything at the moment though gone mental so i'm off for the time being so see you soon you mad bugger you! Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  8. No Kev, Jacqui is the one that gives me a good kicking mate...lol don't worry change of work commitments and circumstances i intend to get out more for sure....see you soon pal. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  9. Yeh but what a kicking we have all had....lol priceless reply. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  10. Ok not holding back more the case of not letting go fully lol.......not Northern anymore? now i'm totally confused but i guess we all have to respect each others taste. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  11. Davie, forgive me but do you mean the scene is a facsimile or the music? not too sure what you mean by this? as there is some pretty good music out there if you dig a little deeper, the scene has changed in my time on it some thirty one years almost but i adore the music perhaps more now than i ever have, i think perhaps it's best to do your own thing because at the end of the day we all collect and enjoy whatever 'floats our boat' and music is a very personal thing and it should matter very little what other people think of our own personal taste, however often we hold back our true taste when we play out in public...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  12. Cool Baz...anytime mate bicknellmark@aol.com Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  13. I'm with you on that Baz....maybe it's taken us thirty years to get where we are now musically?, i love the male vocal groups, sweet through big voiced, street corner to soul, they take me to another place...I reckon we should get together one night with a few cans and lose ourselves...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  14. Through this in the mix....I'll stick with the 'Plug Side'...... both sides are ace. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  15. When i started this thread today it was my intention to inject a little passion and try to open up how we feel about the scene and it's music, the replys and comments have been wonderful, like Baz my personal taste in music has changed over the years, i still like traditional Northern and have kept plenty of records but i find myself drawn to Sweet and Crossover more now particually on the show, what ever style 'floats your boat' the common ground is we all seem to have passion for the music. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  16. I guess we all have to try and keep things in perspective, don't get me wrong there are of course far more important things in life to deal with and consider but I guess we all get a little carried a way with all things soulful at times and sometimes the real stuff in life passes us by, soul does sometimes help us through the hard times and is the best thing in the world to celebrate the good times. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  17. Tony, people like you lead the way mate so respect, yet deep down you love it...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  18. Here's the Mid Town record.......awesome tuneage. Embers version is very slighty different as Chalky stated. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  19. All these comments really cement to me why we are all involved on this scene...keep it coming, refreshing to read. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  20. Good one Paul, why the question mark next to Soultown? by far the cleanest mix i think. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  21. Tommy Neal, Pameline, Vault, Palmer USA and UK Vocalion must be a condtendrer. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  22. Get back in 'The Attic' pal...lol oh you are this Saturday, nice comments Kev, looking like we all pretty much think and feel the same. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  23. Tuneage Steve...simple as that really. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  24. A very moving reply Geoff, gave me a lump in my throat, any music that evokes the emotion you expressed here has to be good for the soul...thank you. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
