  4. Values taken from John Manships 4th Edition price guide, remember as John states this is simply that a price guide and prices do change from time to time. I sold a mint stock/issue copy of 'The Marvelows' a couple of months ago for £90.00 if that's any help. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  5. Just a quick check on the current value/price on the superb Randy Hobbs - Waiting And Watching - Ember 1109 White Demo, not seen this for sale too often so a little unsure of the current value - contact bicknellmark@aol.com or PM here. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

  12. Hi Alan, thanks for the comments mate, like I said there was no dance floor to fill or impress and all I had to please was myself last night....lol having said that there are a few venues out there where you can freestyle the spots but they are few and far between, to be able to slip a few different things in the mix now and again keeps my interest in the DJ thing going, a nice mix can be the perfect spot and is what we all try to do I guess. Hope to see you next week Alan. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  13. Interesting point there about having the same taste, what a good way to find like minded people get them all together and do a night with no restrictions musically bliss....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  14. Despite there being many Soul nights out there this weekend I found myself in doors yet again on Saturday night, nothing much on the television until 'Match Of The Day' so after dinner I sneaked upstairs to get the DJ boxes ready for next weekend, normally it's a case of simply changing the boxes around a little which takes an hour or so but tonight I was in the mood to play a few and spent a very enjoyable couple of hours, no dance floor to fill, no one else to please but myself.....wonderful....lol You sometimes don't realise just how many good records you own, the following 45's really hit the spot tonight. I guess this thread is following on from other threads based on favorite tunes at home, big in the record or bedrooms and just a bit of fun. I'm a sad bugger I know but it's late and now I'm bored wishing I was out somewhere....lol Philharmonics - I Need, I Need Your Love - Soulin, set the mood and I was off to another place instantly, beautiful record. The Magnificent 7 - Never Will I (Make My Baby Cry) - Dial, up went the volume and the neighbours were my audience, stunning record. The Intentions - Don't Forget That I Love You - Philips DJ, a Harthon production which has it all. The Inverts - Time Will Change - Broadway DJ, simply an awesone record. Little Charles And The Sidewinders - It's A Heartache - Decca DJ, does me up like a kipper fantastic record. The Inspirations - Your Wish Is My Command - Midas, so worthy of it's cult status, a diamond of a record. Lee Williams And The Cymbals - Lost Love - Carnival, Joe Evans was a genius, such a great record. Jimmy Norman - I'm Leaving (This Old Town) - Mercury DJ, superb record, the volume now creeping up...bliss. The Fantastics - That One - Sound Stage 7 DJ, top tuneage of the highest order. Jackey Beavers - Bring Me All Your Heartaches - Grandland, class record from an awesome talent. The Venturas - Baby Be Mine - Daniels, 1968 Chicago dynamite, awesome group record. Freddie Houston - If I Had Known - Old Town DJ, instantly memories of Stafford's 'Top Of The World' Allnighter, covered up as Herb Ward, Keb Darge at his very best. The Servicemen - I Need A Helping Hand - Patheway, time to blow the windows out, fabulous Northern Soul old style. Johnny Bartel And The Soul Masters - "If This Isn't Love" - Solid State DJ, Another old cover up as 'The Metro's' I think, reminds me of Ian Clark at The 100 Club circa about 1983/4 E.J. And The Echoes - You're Gonna Hurt - Diamond Jim, This is a stunning record out of Detroit, so hard to find, if 'The Tempos' - I'll Never Forget on Diamond Jim is hard to find then this is as hard to locate IMO. The Falcons - Love You Like You Never Been Loved - Big Wheel, flip to 'Good Good Feeling' records like this take me to another dimension. The Volumes - I Got Love - Twirl DJ, well into the male vocal group section of my little one man soul night now....lol The Four Sonics - Easier Said Than Done - Sport, full volume now no messing, her at number 22 loves this record. The O'Jays - I'll Never Forget You - Imperial Audition, how good are these guy's? still a brilliant record, pure class. The Four Voices - We Live In The Ghetto - Voice, equal in quality to 'My Love Is Getting Stronger' at a snip of the price. The Entertainers - Love In My Heart - Symbol DJ - every collection should hold this stunning oldie, total manic madness, awesome record. Eddie Hill - You Got The Best Of Me - Thelma - simply Detroit at it's very basic beautiful best....Jacqui yell's up the stairs "Turn it down?".....so up it goes full blast now as I'm on one....lol The Metrics - Wishes - Chadwick, if I had one wish it would be that this beauty was a much bigger record on the scene than it is, cult status again, beautiful record. The Jive Five - You're A Puzzle - United Artists DJ, proper Northern record and hard to find now as it's firmly in peoples collections never to be sold...lol A few from the girls! Irene And The Scotts - I'm Stuck On My Baby - Smash DJ, I love this record if there were only five copies of this it would be a thousand pound record no messing. The Liberty Belles - Shing-A-Ling Time - Shout DJ, needs playing this again at the gigs, thumping N-Soul of the highest order. Barbara Jean And The Lyrics - Any Two Can Play It - Big Hit, flip to her version of 'Why Weren't You There' both sides are dandy detroit and pretty hard to find. The Wooden Nickles - Nobody But You - Omen DJ, still a very popular and desired record on the scene. Bessie Jones - No More Tears - A-Bet, stonking uptempo Northern, forgotton oldie that does it for me yet again, now the neighbours are really feeling the groove as the windows and the house are rattling. The Vashonettes - A Mighty Good Lover - Checker, sexy record..mmmmmmmmmmm! Mill Evans - Things Won't Be The Same - Constellation, what a brilliant record, Bill Sheppard production out of the Widy City, so so good. Joe Anderson - I Can't Get Enough Of You - Heidi DJ, one of the best records of my little soul night here, top tune. Buster Jones - Baby Boy - Sure-Shot DJ, top class record that again needs a little more turntable action out and about at the venues, fantastic tune. Vernon Greene - Look At Me, Look At Me - Minit Audition, this record pushes me over the edge everytime, has it all and then some. Last orders at the bar please!!!! The Festivals - Checkin' Out - Blue Rock DJ, flip to 'Hey Girl' an awesome double header. and finally - The Visitors - My Love Is Ready And Waiting - Tangerine, oh my goodness me this is about as good as it gets......awesome tuneage. Sorry to bore the pants off everyone but like I said a little bored but no matter where you are at home or at a gig, in the car, on a bus, train listening to this wonderful music through an MP3 player or whatever......well there's nothing quite like it is there, nothing else even comes close....now I might just go and listen to a few more before bed...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  15. All set now for the start of the new show next Sunday night www.starpointradio.com Should be a blast. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  16. Joe, I'm not suggesting to not talk or discuss the past, the scene's history is far too rich in some outstanding music to do that, I simply stated that some of the 'Golden Cow's' including 'Wigan Casino' have been well and truely milked dry over the years and it is that I have a problem with, nostalgia is part of the scene by the very nature of the music I just wish that the current scene could be promoted in the now rather than feeeling that by association with the 'Casino' or day's gone by that this somehow makes current venues somehow ok and accepted, should the scene not be powerful enough now to stand up on it's own merrits circa 2007 rather than thinking that the good old days were somehow better? Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  17. I don't have a problem with 'Wigan Casino' being part of the scene's history, I attended the venue many times and have some good memories of the place but they are just that memories, what I do have a problem with is the constant reference to the place as being the holy grail of Northern Soul venues and the constant milking of that eight year period to promote some events on today's scene by has-been or never will be's who contribute nothing directly to the scene now and who basically use the 1973 - 81 period as a way to feather their own nests now, sure celebrate the music of the past at Oldies events but why rape the very Soul of the Casino and all that was good to come out of that venue and period, some fantastic music which should be celebration in it's self without this old hat 'Keep The Faith', 'Brothers and Sisters' bullshit that continues on the current scene, respect to those who contribute, attend, and try to keep things fresh and bugger the rest as I'm simply not interested in the past or rather the past glories of one or two people who have lived off a period in the scenes history for the past 26 years and who either don't understand or wish to be part of the Northern scene circa 2007, treating this scene like a product rather than a passion is at best insulting, 'Keep The Faith' to be honest I'd rather share it thanks....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  18. My Mala Demo ain't going nowhere, timeless division one record....love it. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  19. Already put this idea to the man but Ady and the label have far more important projects to work on than a homeage to the 'Soul Shack' nice idea though Martyn....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  20. Thank you Rachel. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  21. Good idea Rachel I was just thinking that myself....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  22. Thanks Martyn, I'm sure the information on the station site will be amended soon, as for CD's it is something I've alway's wanted to do again and have approached one or two companies over the years to maybe do a 'Best Of The Soul Shack' type of thing but nothing as yet but you never know....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  23. Hi Martyn, sorry for the confusion mate ok, I was originally offered the 12am - 2am Saturday night slot but then it changed to the new confirmed slot on Sunday nights from 10pm - Midnight www.starpoitradio.com The first new show goes out on Sunday November 4th 2007 10pm - Midnight and then every Sunday at the same time, there has been a few slot changes at the station and I'm sure the revised information will be updated and show correct on the website. Trust this clears up your concerns. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  24. Cheers Chris for uploading this, I was having problems with opening the file so thanks again mate. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
