This is one of the main reasons why I and I'm sure many others out there choose not to contribute or get involved on here as much as we used too due to the constant barrage of personal abuse, attacts, snipping, bad blood, people who think they can say what they like to who they like and stuff the consiquences, I myself have been involved in some of the negative stuff on here in the past and even closed my account a couple of times to try and avoid the conflict with one or two people, the best way to combat the bad vibes is I feel to totally ignore it and not rise to the bait, often saying nothing speaks far more than steaming straight in there with all guns blazing, I'm not gonna directly comment on this current thread and batlle of wills between 'Jock' who I know very well and respect a great deal and 'Beeks' who I don't know as any comment would be percieved as being biast towards Jock, the problem with Soul Source sometimes is the passion gets in the way and we become very deffensive, angry and self opinionated and often some comments and observations can be totally taken out of context or read in a totally different way to which they were written, basically sometimes putting words in the original posters mouth or seeing things in a totally different light. I must say I can honestly say I'm happy to not be involved with the scene too much anymore and the main reason for this is to do with this constant infighting and pretty much all negative threads and actions on and off this website and have no real desire to be involved or around something I once loved because it's been destroyed from it's very core, nothing to do with the music or the joy and pleasure it still it gives me as that will last forever. This is really hard to say but if I'm totally honest the SCENE bores the shit out of me and has no real draw anymore even from a DJ perspective I'm just not interested which is partly to do with all the crap that goes on behind the scenes and on public forums etc. the bullies, pontificating and all the other negative stuff just ends up chipping away at you and in the end you just don't care anymore. I've got to the stage where it's really not that important anymore and basically I don't care what people think, say or do no mater who they are, respect due to many people on the scene and here on Soul Source and the scene in general but please if you have a beef with someone maybe try and sort it out off this forum if possible. James Crawford - Honest I Do - Part 1 - Omen, well known label for the likes of Brice Coefield, Wooden Nickles etc. etc. a James Brown production this is yet another little sleeper which has found favour with me in 'The Soul Shack' over recent Sundays, just a solid little record that would cut the mustard at the gigs, won't set you back more than about £30.00, well worth a punt if you don't know it. Over the past three or four years I've moved on some so called big ticket items with no regrets, in that time I've also picked up as many records as I've sold, I think the best way to value your collection is on musical content and quality rather than the price tag or current high selling prices on some records, records are for playing and enjoying and should not be treated as an investment or pension plan, having a pretty solid collection still of mid priced records and some bigger ticket items I dread to think of the current market value, still this only comes into play when selling stuff, Ted Massey pointed something out to me the other day regarding the high asking prices on some records and that it's got a little out of hand again as like Ted, myself and others who picked up tunes a bit back for a bargain or lesser price than today's market that we perhaps should take this into account to maybe get back to a more realistic market place as some records have been somewhat inflated due to demand,hype etc. by the same token as already stated on this thread people will only pay what a tune is worth to them and that sometimes means getting involved in auctions and perhaps bidding way over book or market price, the must own it mentality as we all know takes over sometimes. Best thing to do is collect what you like, get as much pleasure and enjoyment out of your records and bugger the cost or worry about how much they will be worth down the line, example Cashmeres, Four Tracks, Dena Barnes, George Blackwell etc. etc. etc. are good records be they one thousand pound each or a fiver.
