Devotions On Tri-sound
Interesting to read this would be a top tune if it was rare so typical of this scene and I'm not having a pop at you Richard just the point you have raised here, I've lost count of the conversations I've had over the years with people on lesser rare records, cheapies call them what you will, often when the value or price question is asked it's funny but some people's eyes simply glaze over and they are not interested unless it's a three or four figure sum, this record is a prime example of quality very much ticking all the boxes, classy double header for one, prime time 1966 Detroit production, why should it make any difference if the record is more common or easy to find, simply means more people can own a copy, it's price or value should not make any difference to the records quality or appeal but for some strange reason it does, records like this and there are many certainly hold their own up against the so called big or top money tunes, also a lot to do with any records acceptance on this scene is of course who's playing it DJ wise, often if the top sheppards latch onto it then the sheep will follow again strange but true, like somehow if x,y,z rates it then it must be good then of course the price rockets and they end up paying far more than if they had perhaps taken note during that conversation in the record bar or mention or review in a magazine or on here even, records should be about the sound, feel, mood, quality and not the price tag, get this into perspective and you can still have so much fun and a hobby and passion which does not break the bank but can get you some oh so fantastic records and this record is just one example of that way of thinking. 100 Club Threads
From a DJ perspective The 100 Club has to be one of the most electric venues to play tunes at, being so close to the dance floor, low stage the huge 100 sign behind you just makes for a magical place to stand, although I don't get down there that much it's still a very special place for me as it was one of the first major venues I DJ'd at back in 1980/81, get it right there as a DJ and there is no better feeling, had the pleasure of DJ'ing there many times over the years and everytime it's a buzz and a real honour to do.....roll on March 28th. Maybe we could do the same thing here as we did for Gil Blanding, source the records from a dealer or collector who is prepared to part with them and pledge a donation, I'll kick it off with twenty quid, I have their Music World record but can't part with it sorry it's just too good, pretty sure we can come up with something on this one. Little Anthony & The Imperials
Ditto mate, by far their best record, awesome does it for me everytime, as for getting them over to the UK I think the cost involved would be too much to promote, they still work throughout the USA and the fee alone would be out of reach for most events overhere except somewhere like Prestatyn maybe. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

Youngest Person To D.j At The 100 Club
Hi Rick, well mate what can I say, had a lot on my plate recently, some good some bad but as I never really said anything this time regarding my involvement or quiting the scene it's been more the case I've been that busy with business, family, football and other stuff that the scene has taken a bit of a back seat, what I did say was certain aspects on the current scene really bore the shit out of me more so all the bullshit, falling out etc. I've had good reason to get involved with the negative stuff but chose not to,finished the radio show which despite what some may think was my choice, went to 4 gigs last year and not been anywhere this year, knocked back or declined a bunch of DJ bookings last year, some of the negative stuff basically really get's on my pip so better to simply ignore it and rise above it, just spent the last two hours sorting records out as I've had an invite to spin a few tunes for Mr Croasdell very soon so it looks like I'm crawling out from under my rock and hit a few gigs real soon, the bottom line for me and the fundimental most important thing about this scene is without question the music, as with so many of us I feel I can still make a contribution so instead of talking about it I just want to get out there from time to time and play a few tunes, no fuss, no bollocks just back to basics and have some much needed fun. Regards - Mark Bicknell. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
