  1. Yes, I can see the creators have been hard to track down. Since "God" supervised the production, I guess its free to all believers! Its just too good and intense to be a couple of amateurs playing around. Ed

  15. Just read: Singer, songwriter, producer and style icon Betty Davis, whose unfiltered, in-your-face 1970s funk songs including “He Was a Big Freak,” “Game Is My Middle Name” and “Nasty Gal” conveyed a brash power that broke gender barriers and defied male-dominated sexual mores, died on Wednesday. She was 77. Davis’ death, of natural causes, was announced by her longtime reissue label, Light in the Attic Records." Ed
  16. Sorry..just saw this... No, I'm a Donny Lad:) but my Father's side lived at Ogmore Vale, so every year up to being 14 it was a couple of family holidays in that area. Porthcawl being the jewel in the crown! Ed
  17. When I started going to cleggy winter Gardens nighters around late 76...Little Darling was massive. Can't recall the deram tune at all.... Were the Flirtations once the Gypsies of "woman's world" fame? Ed
  18. Just as a side issue.. Not heard this in yonks! Thanks Ed
  19. On the face of it, yes, but you'd have to analyse every sold auction item against a similar set sale, to compare. Maybe its just an illusion, maybe its correct. Its very rare, on here at least, than anybody comments on how low a price a record sold for at the weekly JM auction, but quite a few have on ebay auctions. If I had a del larks or Gwen owens etc I wanted to shift, I'd definately discuss it with John first! Ed
  20. Well Mr M...is simply a master of the sales technique, obviously the buyers determine the final price. Its what you'd expect. Every record ever listed by him always has at least a 'must have, quite rare' description. Again, I'm not knocking him. Its par for the course, just like any salesman. However when a £100 normally valued record, and by valuation not that rare, fetches double that, indeed he did a good job. Essentially it just means almost anything and everything can be auctioned it would appear, and the expectation is it will sell for more than a similar set sale. Ed
  21. My idea of an auction....any auction....is that the following two scenarios apply: 1. The seller wants the money quickly, and is prepared to accept a lower price than the 'going rate'. 2. The item is so rare, or in demand, the seller cannot put a fixed price on it, goes to auction and expects a higher price than the 'going rate' JM auctions of late seem to expect a higher sale price than the 'going rate' for everything. He would, he's on a commission! Ed
  22. Good luck. Hope it runs smoothly and attendees can just have a great time... After all, its all in a good cause! Its Tenerifes loss, thats for sure. Ed
  23. is soul in the sun, Tenerife a thing of the past now? Ed
  24. I feel so privileged to have been able to buy many of the big ticket items for under £30 back in the day, and was genuinely sad when the "crash" came in the early 80s when they dropped even further. Some serious collections went for peanuts. Who would have thought such a comeback would have gradually unfolded! I guess its " better to have owned and sold, than never owned at all" so to speak. The positive I take from all these incredible sales prices is that regardless of anything else, the absolute fanaticism of owning rare vinyl, lives on. Ed
  25. Todays £3 special...might be tomorrow's in demand big ticket tune! Realistically though, unless you dj for a living..or are a trader, who'd own any record (for long) they don't like? There's also the 'old' factor, where a fiver is still a lot of money, whereas for the youngsters its progressed to a fifty:) How much? I hear you cry. Ed
