  1. Surely most collectors, collect what they like and what they can afford. Two variables there. That was me back in the day... Never understood owning records I did not like but it meant I had everything released on a particular label, but no doubt it happens. A DJ and a collector can be one and the same, but no guarantee that having a great collection makes you a great dj, even though plenty may think that! I remember reading an article about Martin Barnfather who had to sell some rare tunes to fund the purchase of in demand great tunes. Thats probably something most djs do unless they are super rich! I'd agree that having say a collection of 75% of all respected original vinyl records ever played on the scene, is probably double the number needed from 1980. Ed
  2. Pretty sure it made up a lot of soul bowl soul packs in the late 70s. Nice tune..Nice voice...probably works better today. Ed
  3. Price of British ( not sure about NI) sourced records may have just gone up! It will all be sorted when the promised oven ready trade deals get fixed. Ed
  4. A smart move. Truth is theres lots of good tribute bands, and the lowest earners must be northern soul tribute bands. In fact hardly any of the bands like the precisions made any money, even though they've been worshipped by our scene. Making a hit record must be dead easy or hard as hell, but if they manage it, its happy days. Wish them luck.. Ed
  5. You are welcome...and with a few tweaks.. they could re do this easy!
  6. Really enjoyed that, thanks. Some tracks lend themselves to vocal accompaniment....maybe a Pawlett Reeves sound? Good luck. Ed
  7. Not a bad sound... New to me (that happens a lot) Ed
  8. Import tax on new stuff is fair enough, because its very likely to be reciprocal on a country by country basis until a trade deal is reached. However it only helps tax departments, not individuals. Protects industries aparantly...and a stealth tax, which is always popular. On second hand goods though, I think its ridiculous. Still, there's much much more to come to fill the void in public finances. Ed
  9. Clumsy baxter having fun. Ed 20210114_092335.mp4
  10. Although I'm no longer vat registered...when I was, you better hand it all over to the hmrc, unless you've got vat you've paid yourself to claim against it. If anybody is making a killing its hmrc. Ed
  11. Shocking. Don't tell me after all the time spent on the free trade deal, scenarios like this were not debated. Talk about the devil is in the detail... What an understatement. Ed
  12. I assume vinyl for records come as blanks ready to cut? So if these blanks came from the EU....and the song was cut in the UK...what happens when that gets exported back to the EU? Ed
  13. Sad news. RIP Bruce. This so reminds me of an up tempo 'any day now' Ed
  14. It was a privilege to hear her sing at the LV 2018 gig. There was a thread here about her. Ed
  15. Hope thats not my old Hearstoppers LP I bought for a tenner and sold for fifty....:) Ed
  16. Actually just changed my mind. No chance. Ed
  17. There's a bad feeling left when you bought something from abroad, only to find its held in a secure holding place until you pay some tax on it. I had it with a play station from the USA years ago. Not sure how to circumvent this, but if its now goods from the EU, it will be reciprocal and change buying and selling habits. Ed
  18. Without getting political.....brexit has resulted in changes to imported goods. From whats been on the news, exporters to the UK need to do some registration and red tape form filling. There was a Belgian manufacturer of bicycle seats, who has now said they will not send product to the UK due to the new legal requirements. Still, its early days, and I'm sure certain anomalies will get ironed out. Ed
  19. Lucky if you ever made it there, like a badge of honour. Not sure about it being the birthplace of Northern soul though...one of them definitely. Ed
  20. There are some i doubt I'd ever have got... Well done. Happy new year to all. Ed
  21. Whats left..? 69 Bay sound Ed
  22. 30 villa Ed www.crewvillas.com
  23. 27 chess.. Ed
  24. Great to hear. I think the penny dropped with me when I got the first manship price guide.... At least 50% of records listed id never heard before. After 25 years of catch up...if an up to date guide came out now.. after adding in the new discoveries in that time...I'd say the gap has got bigger! Happy days! Ed
