  1. First heard this at Wakefield UH around 77. From memory the grapevine issue came out pretty soon after. Don't recall any pressings coming out at the time to be honest. Ed
  2. RIP. Thats one hellava powerful song. I'd rather live in his world, than without him in mine....pure class. Ed
  3. Absolutely... Trialling Zelle.com right now. Its free and instant to move $ to $ from banks who are signed up, and I think $10 straight if there is some banks who are not. Bottom line is i still think buyers using PP is ok. Its the sellers who are getting Chiseled, and eventually it will mean a levy is added, and so buyers will pay. Something definitely allowed PP to up their fees on the 1st Jan. Ed
  4. Terrible news. RiP KOKO...is my lifes inspiration when I'm up against it. At one time I could give it 100mph all way through as well! Ed
  5. I hear you brother.. My issue with PP.. If you sold a product for $, and you have a PayPal $ account, you got credited the $ after they take the %. Fair enough. One bite of the cherry. Before 1/1/21 you could move the remaining $ to, for example, a usa $ bank account for free. Same transaction now costs an extra 3%. No explanation or justification, just a change in terms and conditions, take it or leave it choice. If you instead, change the $ to £ they screw you on the exchange rate. I'm not a fan of the old paypal...more like stealpal or paypaypal.. Ed
  6. Not much twist on that wheel...:) Ed
  7. Hey Russ.. Have you got any good snaps of that knee deep lake near Lelystad to share? The one with the island in the middle reached only by boat. Ed
  8. Tell her your mine. As good as it gets. Good luck with the promotion. Ed
  9. So sad really. Such a young age. These days you'd hope a carbon monoxide alarm would have picked up the faulty appliance. What are they? A tenner? Should be built into every appliance, and cut off the power if the reading is not right. Same thing with those poor kids on holiday abroad a few years ago Ed
  10. Understandable... Thanks for trying. Bub RIP would indeed fill a few pages. Ed
  11. Thanks. Any reason why it stopped at 3? I did meet Nev and Keith a few times, and its great to hear about the dedication they put into our scene. I guess there's many movers and shakers who have sadly passed who should be spotlighted for their impact and influence. Sadly we never knew most of the artists, with the odd exception, but particularly for the original djs and promoters it would be great to hear about them. Ed
  12. Who else got spotlighted? Ed
  13. RIP Indeed some great music made that will long be played on our scene. I was there for the second coming of shake a tail feather and it was massive around 79. Ed
  14. Scratchy might turn the Lady back out the door.. Ed
  15. According to Manship...about the Henry Boatwright version: a lead-singer with SOUL BROTHERS INC. Henry Boatwright offers up a forgotten Cleethorpes Pier classic.. Maybe Herman's Hermits version was confused with this ? Or maybe some adventurous dj did bang it out somewhere? Zoomsoulblue...where did you hear it? Ed
  16. That Herman's hermits tune...ouch. It gives that Paul Wnka when we get there a run for its money... Ed
  17. First time I heard this 'mecca biggie' I wanted to walk out the room. Definitely on the fringe. Ed
  18. Salisbury pub Scarborough around 77 listening to this old geezer reminiscing about back in the day for at least an hour, and thinking these are tall stories.... RIP Martin Ellis....all turned out to be true. Ed
  19. It could be a long list. Some good examples mentioned. To actually put somebody off though, it can't be a once popular poppy happy go.lucky tune simply because if it made somebody happy once...it could again. So more looking at an extreme tune, just bordering on norvun.....but yet brilliant to devotees. Got to be this. Brilliant but weird Ed
  20. And a later updated version.... Used to hate the original. Very depressing and slower than other stuff at the time. But I can live with it now:) Ed
  21. My white demo Laura Lee was definitely stamped... Ed
  22. About 40 years ago I bought a "detroit" soul pack, direct from the states. One or two nice "northern" items but most just for label collectors I guess Ric tic golden world some tamla, etc. I did notice the ric tic were mostly not stamped and assumed not original. Might have been wrong after all.. Ed
  23. RIP Sir What a great tune to be remembered by. Ed
