    Help

Get it up on ebay, put vary rare and collectable, and you never know. These were the records that really made Wigan Casino a classic soul venue. Ed
  2. Snaith All Dayers (Sundays). Someone found out if you had food after the 2.00.pm cut off for beer you could buy cider with the meal. Well what do you think. 'Ive got a brand new combine harvester' was the anthem. Ed
  3. Is Paul Shaw up for sale. Could do with him before Saturday. Wheres Ronnie gone when you need him. Ed
  4. Shit I'm on a computer with no speakers. Now I will have to wait for another 6 hours to see if its it. Well after about 25 years, I suppose I can manage a couple of hours longer. Ed
  5. Had to renew this thread because I am sure this is the instrumental I have been trying to get the details of. Just thought ofanother possibility as you metioned Poke, he had an acetate played as James Bynum think it was called "Love music".... Any ideas of the true identity, and does it still get played. Ed
  6. Perhaps some historian could actually pin a venue to a record and say 99% for sure that, this was the first or only place it was spun. I suspect only the DJs would know for sure. Most of the records mentioned were also played everywhere else, so the claim to fame has to be as above, especially if a dedicated CD is issued. Ed
  7. Wigans chosen few would go down well with the pounding version of Skiing in the snow, or the old wully bully 'footsee'. Whats wrong with me. Baby. Dont forget the deep soul style 'Love Hustle'. So much soul played at Wigan. Wait a minute. Nine times out of ten. The Joker went wild. My hearts symphony. What choice. Ed
  8. Best - Beverley Ann - Youve got your mind on other things. Worst - Beverley Ann - He's coming home. Great lady in any case. Ed
  9. Northern Soul Story 2 Double LP. £25 INCLUDING POSTAGE. edyc1@aol.com if any good.
  10. Heavens to Murgatroyd!!!!!!! Is this site a front for 'Rob to order'. Comet looks like getting it with guys like you about. Ill take a ps2, if you can fit it in your swag bag. Ed
  11. 1975 The Windmill Youth Club, Conisbro Dean Roach + Plus Guest DJs (Seriously) The Place Youth Club, Conisbro The Assembly Rooms, Rotherham Baileys nappy nights, Doncaster The Brickyard WMC, Mexbro Boylans Record Shop, Conisbro 1976 First step into the big time - Four Seasons (Later Rudies) Disco, Scarboro. Cleethorpes WinterGardens. First Nighter, and the only 4th year on the train. Why did they not have O Levels in Northern Soul!!!! Ed
  12. Now that does ring a bell, or pluck a string in this case. Was it uncovered? Ed
  13. Well What a splendid offer. If you email me your address at edyc1@aol.com, I will post a tape of some of my 'slightly obscure' tunes in return for a tape of your 'slightly obscure' tunes including instrumentals. Sorted. (Always wondered what tape swoppers were!!)
  14. A little tip. If you can use the internet to pick up radio, try a few USA stations offering R & B/ Soul etc. Chicago/NewYork stations have some great Oldies shows and its worth the try. Even in the 80s, most of the records played at soul venues, especially Northern, were still oldies, and the Jazz Funk scene played - well - Jazz Funk with not much soul as I remember (Another brick in the wall - seriously). Ed
  15. Looking through some of the 'fave' records listed on recent polls, some of them I like now but could not stand the first time I heard them. Top of the List 'Don Varner - Tear Stained Face' Loathed this at first but years later complete change of heart and I love it. Any other nominations?? Ed
  16. Thanks for all your help, but none of the suggestions jump out. I guess I will have to go to a revival night over there and quiz the Old Jocks. I am guessing it was a Poke spin, and probably covered up or an acetate, as its never come out on the 100 or so CDs I have aquired. I am not sure my vocal interpretation of the tune will be any more use than the ding ding ding written down. Is that Leaking Boot chippy still open up the road? Ed
  17. You would have thought the Church would not want to be associated with the once raunchy Miss Lauper, but as you know SEX SELLS. I would have thought a mint original Gospel Classics in a walmart cover was more fitting. Shame on you Pastor. Praise the Lord.
  18. Yeh The wheeltappers and shunters club. Satdi neets. Order Order. Them wa days lad.
  19. Not sure, but the dancefloor used to fill up. Then again it did for Black Soul Music. Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Black Soul. Im sticking to Ding ding ding. Forget Na Na Na. Ed
  20. Lets guess. You Clot (old style) You Chin (new style) You Chav (topical) You Clit (risky) You Carp (fishy) You Cuty (nice and PC) AT LEAST YOU DID NOT JUDGE THE POOR SOD. How much did they offer, I can write Clive over Ray for a few bob. Ed
  21. No Nope, none of them. Falbala - Jesus. More like a very basic Champion with a driving beat from the lead guitar. Played at the same time as stuff like broadway sissy, similar speed in terms of dancing. Ding ding ding intro like a harder version of the intro to 'Your love makes me Lonely'. Now I cant stop twanging my imaginary guitar string. Ed
  22. Willie J & Co - Boogie with your baby Eddie Parker - Love you baby JL & TCOT - Manifesto Vibrations - Cause your mine Sandi Sheldon - Gonna Make you love me Triumphs - Coming to your rescue - The definition of 'get on that floor. Ed
  23. Is that the one you won on Bullseye. We all know Jim Bowen started off as a DJ at the Wheel.
  24. Look, there was no dongs only dings. No rings only dings. Some dings were faster than other dings, musically speaking. Anyway its about 28 years ago since I last heard it, but the dings still dinging. Come on you ding lovers whats the dinginging title/artist/label/value.
  25. Trades considered. Everyone short on the dosh I suspect.. edyc1@aol.com Ed
