  1. Dont You Want A Man Like Me - charles beverley - vanessa 13924 refosoul Not listened to this for years, sounds fantastic now, bought this on that great balcony at Clifton hall where Tim A used to sell records.
  2. Diamond Ring - billy nichols - west end 13923 refosoul Great disco label produces great funky stomper, makes Joseph Webster sound very namby pamby, played at Wigan first but used to get my juices flowing at CH
  3. Don't Hold Back - monticellos - red cap 13922 refosoul Again only 92.3% Mr R played this at CH, certainly played it in Scotland 1983 so that would date it around right, normally go for other side but this sounds great now!
  4. Evening Mr Darker, hope you are well PM me your email as have been meaning to get in touch for ages. I assume you mean Rayford Tucker, if you remind me of label (yellow with a picture if I remember it) I will go and find it and upload it!! Can someone tell me if sound clips I am putting up are working, I am getting strange message about cannot find file and my soundcard is knackered so I can't check! Cheers Jock
  5. Look At Me Look At Me - vernon greene - minit 13921 refosoul A couple of Gary R ones before I move up the decades too, again not 100% sure, about 87.3% sure if that helps justify this!!
  6. When You Are Alone - buddy connor - break through 13920 refosoul Again sure I heard this here by Mr W (an unsung hero for this type of stuff) or was it at a SAS do in Manchester Tiffanies about 3 years later?? Answers on a postcard
  7. My Love Is Gone - shadows - usa 13919 refosoul Convinced played by Mr Withers in early days, any of you older and wiser heads confirm/shoot me down!!
  8. Okay been trying to get to this one, not sure it was the best all nighter ever but it was one of them, probably one I grew up at more and one started to find new friends from South of border and travelling regularly, for me Gary R was still king but it certainly opened my eyes to soul of all eras (mind you only 3 decades around then, so easier to call 70's/80's modern ) Used to travel regularly on my own, went to a pub before it, cant remember the name but remember the outside loos with eye level windows!! Scary looking people till I realised that most of them were going to nighter after, horrrendous train journey from Edinburgh (via Manchester seem to remember) and as bad back, but that was all the fun!! Great crowd, Morecambe crowd becoming my buddies, first sight of that crab dance style that Mr Banks has now made his own. About the 60's as am struggling to remember many other than those posted so dug around, sure may get shot down but did Dave Withers not DJ at early ones, hope so as first 2 are via him, tried to find a few not mentioned yet. Happy days, so head above the parapet with the first couple
  9. How Can I Get Over A Fox Like You - the icemen - abc 13714 refosoul Another preston cyberman tip, this time Mr Stanhope special, final one from me and last of me pre bedtime waffles, a great piece of deep soul to finish, night night!
  10. The Power Of Love - harold melvin & blue notes - abc 13713 refosoul Out and out disco (real disco this time to me) and I love it, glorious uplifting post Teddy vocals and happy music.Apologies to the disco sucks campaign members out there!!
  11. Tell Me You Love Me - lawrence payton - abc 13712 refosoul A couple more from 70's. not much from the 80's on this label I could find so sticking here, 4 Tops singer, solo single but appeared on a 4 Tops album, great stepper.
  12. I Got A Bone To Pick With You - ruby andrews - abc 13711 refosoul Genre change again to Modern Northern Not Modern Oldie, which is what I think was decided to call 70's records wasn't it!!!! A little cheesy but it makes me want to swing my pants, only in the comfort of my own record room of course, great vocals as always from Ms Andrews.
  13. Your About To Lose Your Clown - ray charles - abc 13709 refosoul Okay mostly Northern so far, so a few genre changes as this label had strenght in depth, would call this R&B but too many experts out there that might correct me, will call it raunchy soul instead, the big man showing how good his voice could be!
  14. Check My Tears - the trends - abc 13708 refosoul An old Gaz Kellet (via that lurker Stuart Raith if my memory serves) tip, and my favorite pace, maybe not for the spinners but great cool soul sound!
  15. Is It Over Baby - the kittens - abc 13707 refosoul Vocals a bit too girly for my normal taste, but this sounds good played out in atmospheric club, sounded even better with Guy H fingerclicking along!!
  16. Ten Shades Of Blue - the spindles - abc 13706 refosoul Not listened to this in years, great record, again old good old fashioned Northern, would get me dancing.
  17. Love Aint Love - flo ballard - abc 13705 refosoul Old fashioned Northern, with a capital S, great singer great song.
  18. Which in its own right is one of the bargains of the year, another fantastic double sider, and seen as often as other SS Loma 45I would say? Pretty sure Joan/Myself put both sides up in Loma thread, cmon someone out there, throw away the sheepskin and buy this and play it, just a great record!!
  19. The Soul Of A Man - pic and bill - blue rock 13499 refosoul What a way to finish, throaty vocals, male duets are the real deal, all that testerone, not an original style of song but just one that gets those knees trembling. Good Night folks!CheersJock
  20. Cry Myself To Sleep - shirley wahls - blue rock 13498 refosoul Okay most of the threads have concentrated on the dancers so a few raw ballads to finish, hide those razor blades, the other side obviously and listen to this girl wail, sublime soul, as deep as you like and then some to steal someones quote!!
  21. Got To Get A Hold Of Myself - dee dee warwick - blue rock 13495 refosoul As many know, one of my all time favorites, has reduced me to tears before, and have even played it out (which reduced others to tears as my DJ spots often did but for different reasons methinks) just great soul music and proves she is the talent of the family.
  22. Sweetie Pie - brothers of love - blue rock 13494 refosoul Sparse empty backing, but something about it gets to me, sounds like it would have been a monster in 80's but in reality a tape sound at best, are these tapes now rarities!!!Other side of Yes I Am making it cheap cheerful and worth it!!
  23. Yes I Am - brothers of love - blue rock 13492 refosoul Great crossover and cheap says Jim O'Hara, good enough for me says I, then get home to find I already had one, albeit with warp so alls well that ends well, and as Jim said, its a great crossover record!!
  24. We're Doing Fine Now - dee dee warwick - blue rock 13491 refosoul Okay I am late but like this game now, a few already up so just some stragglers and this is big voice, big city soul at its best. Whistley & Smiley music to make you feel good.
  25. Not seen that Jim, what is on credits, one of the Loma LP's have good blurb re label and its connections, will dig it out tonight.
