Now this is proper disco Pete, some great stuff on that, will send you a glitter ball to help you appreciate. A label that successfully retrospectively introduced me to the world of more electronic music and ultimately the wonderful world of house music!! There is some dodgy stuff on there as well, Frances Joli anyone??? Sharon Redd 12" (demo only!) with different intro is just fantastic dance music

84 to 90, music and people unbeatable, an undisputable fact because I say so!

Anyone got a sound clip of this and the Lee Moore on the same label, many thanks Jock

James Carr - Dark End Of The Street , (late 60's?) not the greatest soul song, but one of them, not my favourite all time record but one of them, but just an amazing heart rending tortuous moment in time from a man with an amazing talent but like so many in that position a tortured soul. And from what little I have read of the man probably done in one take. I think it would be a life affirming experience. It puts all the arguments around what is soul into oblivion this is soul, and proof that even what initially can appear as the most bleak art can be soul lifting and make you happy. And being greedy Aretha Franklin - Respect, partly because she is the no. one for me, partly because you can tell she sings it because she means it and partly because I think it would be another life affirming experience but one that would fill me full of hope, something it looks like we are all losing when you read other threads. What a great thought on a so far crap day! Cheers Jock

Look mate, first I am not asking anything its a mates list as I have made clear, I can supply you email direct if you want to ask. Second its been made clear that you shouldn't comment on peoples sales prices in previous threads, its just sheer bad manners unless in constructive manner. Third I will supply your details direct to seller so he can discuss direct next time your are in same room. 4th there has been 2 for sale in excess of this I believe, but as I say I had nothing to do with prices I only asked some advice for him on here.

What Was The First Record You Paid " Real " Mony For ?
jocko replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
Magnetics I Have a Girl £30 and Lovers Without A Doubt £20, within a week in about 83, which was most of my weeks wages then! Never paid more than that for years, (about 1990) until DJ'ng quite a bit bought one of the sounds of the day for £150 which was a lot lower % of my weekly wage by then, sweated over it for a week thinking have I just become one of those div's buying a record because its "trendy" for dj purposes, decided yes so sold the record and hung up my headphones!! -
Its yet another thing that is just a habit and ritual, almost part of the uniform so many feel the need to wear. Get rid of it and move with the times, mind that could apply to about 90% of components of current scene!

Whats on the flipsdide of Bart Jackson on Decca?

Count me in although may need some help in here to get my USB turntable recording again f*****g thing is just recording white noise( I have already heard the comments thats better than my normal choices ) Happy with Andy's themes, might even do all 4 for myself and then send out different ones to different people, or is that just a little too confusing!!
-
Actually issued on a CD recently by the man himself, it was on CD baby, great track, but if I remember rightly the rest of the CD is awful, cant quite find it at the moment but when I do will feedback. Must admit its not a record you see for sale often, not sure how well known it really is mind.

Willy Wiley On King And Peoples Choice On Veroneeca
jocko replied to Baz Atkinson's topic in Record Wants
Hi Baz, picked this up at Lifeline weekender for very reasonable price from some funky kid who never seen before, Butch had one as well think. According to Chunky, the Funky Drunk, its a 2nd issue on King on another rarer label, any info anyone? Great record Jock -
Ehh WTF - its quite clearly stated on here, and I can verify that statement from personal evidence, that Robin S played Hugh Boynton WGMI to death in 80's and Gary R played YWBOWYS for many years (well a few) and it and the other version were well known and well played throughout the 80's, so how exactly are they tracks no-one else would, they were so well known by the 2001 they were almost oldies!! And before Mr White attempts to smack me for saying something naughty this is not a dig at Mr Levine, just a correction of one the many tiresomely inaccurate "facts" flung around here, starting to think truth is as rare as Hens Teeth on here sometimes!! See above! Havent heard this for years, I always thought they were almost the same, anyone put up a sound clip of this version? Okay off to be sedated, Jock
-
No Mark its rubbish, let me know where it is and I will take it just to be charitable, then CD it for you!!!! Jock O'Connor ( Hampden next week???)
-
Are you saying you haven't seen it? No-one has come back and said they have seen this, which for such a lable and such an artist does make me question its existence on this label!
-
Oops should have read the whole thread, 1964 would tie in with the Loma date, dont think I have that Loma album unfortunately, so looks probable on a Loma single, any further evidence gentleman??
-
Not sure Simon, I have only seen it on Loma listings, I have collected the label so to be honest only reason I have looked out for it, to be honest would probably pass it by on another label!! Cmon Mr C, or Mr Rounce surely you can tell me!!
-
Okay Mr C, since you are here can you confirm the existence of the following Bob & Earl on Loma, in all my years of collecting the label never seen it and put it up on various sites and nothing returned, Loma 2004 - Bob & Earl - Everybody Jerk / Just One Look In Your Eyes - 1964 Have you seen it? If so do you know if it is same B&E and is it any good, if anyone else knowns and even better has a copy for sale let me know, need it in another crazy completist sort of way. Cheers Jock
-
Have you ever seen the Ashford & Simpson one, I swear I saw it with Des Toussaint at Southport one year but didnt pick it up, no-one seems to believe it exists. Would be very interested in one of these in a completist sort of way!!
-
Sounds even more like Lamont D than on Zingare, like this one a lot.
