  1. No its a question of you making me out to be a liar and throwing false accusations at me. I thought you were going to forget I exist, that means no response, silence, you and I will be a lot happier.
  2. I am 7 years older than you, and if what you say is true then we will almost definitely have been in same clubs in Manchester & Leeds around the 90's. Stick to the facts, thats all I say.
  3. [quote name='Beeks' date='Aug 28 08, 09:44 AM' post='853198' I think my replies as ever have been reasonably polite and articulate in the face of quite obvious provocation...
  4. I dont think you are the only one, Steve W said it spot on and I agreed, you either get it or you dont. People take it as an offence that but the structure and ethos has been around long before us mate, whether it will be here for much longer than us is a moot point. Okay enough fun, off to work.
  5. Wow you were doing them a favour by warming up, you must be king after all, did you ask them to warm up for you as a favour in return. Did you meet Mr Sanchez's (I don't feel I know him well enought to call him Roger) Italian woman, strange woman no, weren't you surprised he was straight. Are you saying you warmed up in Sankeys recently? That is impressive. Do you still speak to Mike Stephens from Fat City?
  6. wtf are you on about, repeat it in English. If you read my post you might have twigged, I too have been to Body and Soul, as I was at the Shelter and most recently at Francis K monday night Space gig, I used to be pretty good friends with Dave Camacho and Victor Simonelli if we want to name drop, if you dont recognise these names I suspect you are on about a differing house scene, although exactly what it has to do with any of this I really don't know. Did you actually read what I said or as usual you look for the same argumentative point. Exactly what young person are you talking about, aint no young people on here, and exactly what new genre are you on about
  7. So you will know Reg at NRK then and Nicki Trax I assume, I spent 8 years working in this area, give me your real name and I will pass your regards on to them as assume you would deal with them quite a lot, What clubs did you work with these guys at, as I know lots of the fixers from that time, maybe we were in the same clubs around that era.
  8. I am just slipping into the High Energy swimsuit as described by Steve G, will add a dash of chiffon before heading off to that thread!
  9. Okay, good, again you don't back your stuff up but lots of smileys. Why didn't you answer my question. I'm off to look for smaller fish to fry, may be difficult. Love him or hate him it was hilarious when Mr Levine did the ignoring bit, so in my usual sheepish way I will follow "I am ignoring this user, other than the odd chuckle, to myself only though, when he trips himself up verbally or metaphorically over his baggies" Lets agree to disagree about your status and save the good readers of this board terminal boredom.
  10. And what exactly are these blinkered visions you object to if you agree with original vinyl, what are these visions that people, by which you obviously mean me, are pushing on you. You need to be precise. I repeat deal in facts, so far you never answer that question. I retorted on here to your thinly veiled dig at me, but again you play the wounded, cmon back up your accusations, I only have 10 minutes before playtime is over. I repeat I hate fakes, you want to keep throwing things at me they will get thrown back. I suggest again you check your facts, I'm off to Refosoul where I can carry on keeping this music to myself.
  11. You might just have stumbled on the clip we used without permission, but obviously can't say it out loud!! And its a stunning version by Esther, what we did with the clip was played the first 40 seconds on screen with Esther, then segued the live singer in. all 3 nights it was seamless and the hairs on the back of my neck just stood up, We had a fairly large soul crowd in on the Saturday and they all loved it. You have just summed up her voice perfectly, thats just a brilliant way of articulating it. She is one of my all time favourite singers hence the show. Just remember I never did CD's I promised you ages ago, sure I still have them in here. Okay last off topic one, I amstarting to sound like one of these people who just want to talk about me, me, me. Off to put up some Esther soundclips, keep me out of trouble,
  12. Really interesting guy, about music and TV, we took him for a drink after show. We invited him back on Friday/Saturday but he thought the timing coincided with quite a lot of stuff. One funny story, and this might invoke the TV rights policeman in you, we had one very small clip of quite a famous Esther Phillips film piece and afterwards he said we did really well getting the rights to something like that, I think he realised by our gaping mouths we hadn't quite filled that form in!! Don't go sending the now redundant Brookside heavies round to get us, it was an honest mistake guvnor!! I assume you are not getting many Hibs fans contacting you today!! We were woeful. Bringing it back on topic, we handed out flyers giving details of Esther's works and where you can buy her anthologies, and have links on the website, keeping it real, honest your honour.
  13. I was going to say that Matt, but assumed it would have just looked like Grumpy old me, NS hasn't been away, its 99% of the people on todays scene who went away, while it carried it on, I am glad they went away reading some of the threads at moment as it meant we were able to enjoy the scene of our relevant youth (80's/90s')without dilution. Its not the worst piece I have read, but to be honest having NS making the Times isn't really a good thing for me, it really does highlight that we are in 1974/75/76 or whenever the major tourist influx was. Should say thought the TC has done some good bits before, including a great interview with Guy Hennigan some years ago, I think he had genuine interest in what was going on, with strong prompting from Guy. I think what sums up current scene is far more people on here will have heard of Terry Christian than will have heard of Guy H!! Another irony that needs no smilies.
  14. I helped put it on Stuart, I was co-producer (fancy word for lugging a lot of sound equipment up and down stairs and helping with the arranging etc), it was me and a pal that were JBShows. It was superb even though I say so myself, sold out Saturday, almost Friday, and hopefully did what we intended, introduced Esther to a far wider audience, we and Esther got great feedback at end of it. On first night a guy came along who was at TV festival and said he had produced her very last UK show (old white haired guy from London who used to produce World In Action and did some Gospel show on radio) and said our show was better, sure he was just being nice but it was a nice touch. I did email you details a while ago but think must have your wrong mail, was going to send you a ticket to get your professional opinion, as assumed you might be through for TV do, Yes the smell of originals, now what about the smell of acetates...................
  15. Why? Read what I said and you will see I obviously have referred to post 44, although very quickly as it feels like grouhndhog day reading it. This is getting tiresome now, been done before a billion times read what Steve Womble says. "You get it or you dont" enough of us believe this not to be bothered by people outwith that scope. You carry on in your world, I will carry on in mines. Hopefully your way gets you the 10 minutes of fame you want, then enjoy the next big thing when it comes along.
  16. Would you like to show me where I said any of the above or even implied any of the above. I prefer evidence to half assed ranting. My only crime seems to be to point out your distance from the truth, all of which can be proved by just reading on here, and if you had been around for more than 10 minutes you would know its my pet hate. At least its not your usual personal insults, or not as bad, so hopefully these wont be deleted so you can proclaim your innocence at some later date. I know a little about something of which there is lots to know, I like sharing that little, its fairly well documented on here, if that makes me this beast you make me out to be above, we are, thankfully, from very different scenes. I want to know lots one day, sadly there is too much to know and too little time to realistically achieve that. What I do know is what is right and what made this scene great, if people don't believe in that anymore, or want to knock people who do, great on you go. Carry on. Its not my world, Stuart sorry for contributing to the downfall of what was a funny starting point, thankfully your understanding if irony probably doesn't need smileys to emphasise it so might find humour in what has gone on in later stages of thread. Oh and to correct what you said at start, I didn't say you had an inferiority complex, quite the opposite, I was saying you should have!
  17. (1) Assume its a you tube clip, cant see them at work, will get to it when I get home. (2) Just a recurring nightmare I am having, like most bad dreams it will go away soon. (3) You sent me all the right records, just missed the 2 I mentioned. Sorry I didn't reply last night, I was crying through my beer at my football teams most embarassing capitulations for some time!
  18. It was covered up as Clouds in tribute to Richard Searlings favourite all nighter off that time (even over Wigan) Clouds in Edinburgh, that was only reason for that. Never heard the Venecia Wilson, anyone got a soundclip or is it in Refosoul? Sure they Fuzzy Faced Fake will have it in his massed collection, as he was obviously there when this story was broke or he would not have commented.
  19. The only reason these mythical soul police would be after you would be for perjury, giving false statements and impersonation of somebody who knows more than they really do. All horrendous crimes in my book.
  20. I've seen you and Dean Anderson dance in stillettos and damned fine you both looked!
  21. I have swayed between my thoughts on this thread, swaying from thinking it as a genuine attempt to win present a human side to IL and then writing it off as a shameless self promotion. However much of it has some fascinating reading, I think Stuarts post was probably one of the best thought out and thought provoking ones on this site yet, and has probably swayed my thinking, Rods follow up I think summed up most neutrals thoughts (if there are that many neutrals). I am glad it is here so far, but would like to hear some more in depths about the music of old. I have bought some of mr Levine's new music, don't like it all but thought I would try it. Like most the Ebony CD is by far the strongest to me, and is a very good album, and closest to a decent contemporary soul set, which is where I would prefer to hear much of these artists to be honest, particularly Noel McKoy. However above comment is the sort that is just ruining this thread, completely uninformed and incorrect, not going to get into the House debate, been done before and too many don't know enough about it, like above poster to debate. Can understand why people do not like it, but at least get factual about it. The above is just not, but then again we have this offering from person before. It did lead me onto one question for Mr Levine I have been thinking about, you are generally acknowledged as one of the originators of Hi-Energy, some of which I have liked on hearing but most was just too manic for me, I would have thought the natural progression to this would have been house, particularly based in America, at what point did you stop progressing in this format and get back to more retro sounding stuff, Heaven used to have a great House night, were you never involved in this? Jock O'Connor PS Mr H (assuming thats who SoulJihad is) I have already had the Paul "Trouble" Anderson joke on here and it sailed over!! PPS Mr Cosgrove, stop the Scottish footie talk on here, it just gets our Colonial neighbours grumpy!!
  22. Cmon Maria, have that second coffee so you can see straighter 3 negatives above and a flurry last time it was mentioned, interesting point about it being a boys records, I think thats probably actually quite true (and I won't really push my luck by saying I always see you as one of the boys, dont want two black eyes do I )
  23. I haven't and tried to google but nothing came up on it, did you get anymore details on it Pete?

    4 For Sale

You really don't see this record for sale very often, and by other prices this is a great bargain. Can only assume this 80's style is too out of style now, but fantastic singer. Has sung with Tempts in recent times and not sounded out of place. Great ballad on the other side. Its already on Refosoul, as can't remember how to put a link it should appear on my last played clip. Would love to hear something like this in a Modern, not Modern (e.g. 70's/80's) set but seems unlikely these days.
  25. I can't believe the negativity to this record, yes a tricky dancer but so what, uptempo, soulful, agrosoul with oooomphh. It has that magical missing something that 90% of records just don't have that stop them becoming truly great, to me anyway. Just stand during the tricky bits and smile on the dancefloor and be grateful. One of the greatest records to have had pleasure to dance to.
