If Scotland win I will buy this record, its looking that unlikely. Okay enough of accidentally bumping Mr Bicknells sales, although always happy to help one of the good guys, off to record some Loma tunes with only one eye on the telly. Oh and going above England isn't really that ambitious an aim these days is it.

Thank you Sebastian, helpful as ever, I was too lazy too google, I am trying to find anything to take my eyes from the football on TV at moment! Yes Rich fantastic group, have a fair bit if their stuff and they very rarely dissapoint.
-
Apologies, want to focus on right record
-
I have 2 copies so if anyone wants my spare for 1000, okay let me be really generous and say 500, its theirs!!
-
Ooops sorry Mark, should have read all the way through first, think Colin was playing it Blackburn so maybe a bit earlier. PS Deeks or not, still a bit nervous!
-
Pretty sure that we turned these up first in Florida about 82, in Edna Minors warehouse that had been pillaged by Butch/Tim over the years. Pretty sure Colin Law was first to play this as we covered it up after Stateside trip in about 82. Howver my memory is not what it was so happy to be corrected. Fantastic record in my ears Gareth, not often we disagreee but love the bass on this onw,

Baz/Brett I would be up for this as well possibly, and certainly now I have heard its albums as am buying almost exclusively albums at moment, due to great value out there. And my fluent German will really help since the Dutch all speak such perfect English they will never understand both your regional twangs

Don't know this Baz, I have another by her on the label, its a one sided 45 Second Hand Love and is very good, must dig it out and put it up.

Thats probably the first time I can say I got a record cheaper than you Dave . Mines was £7 I think, And yes I know we are boring talking about records for cheap back in the day but we are just trying to make that mischievous Mr Cook go away before he starts part 4975 of the originals v Bootleg debate And I still say I am dubious about the origins of this record, despite having one and therefore a vested interest in it being real, but can anyone remember where they first came from (mines was Soul Bowl) and am I right in remembering they appeared after the track appeared on a re-issue LP, Someone did say Gilly had the only copy for a long time before they appeared but I keep forgetting to ask. Cmon Mr Dyson, or Tats, you brainy blokes will remember details I am sure.
-
Great picture Stuart, any chance I can get a copy. As you will remember I spent many a weekend of that time down in your area, was a regular boarder in one of the guys houses, really miss those days. Always been a bone of contention for me Colin sneaked in there when I had introduced him to you lot!

Anyone got a sound clip of this, remember being very impressed when I heard it out.

Surely the Daddy of this category (and maybe any category) Eddie Parker - I'm Gone You can actually hear him spit venom as he sings.

Okay quick run by while waiting in coffee cue Donnie Burdick Candle In The Window Colin Law at his peak, dance floor rocking, hands clapping, mad Scotsmen chanting Soul. I was off course at side stroking my chin in time. Lost more records from Colin in that period, trying to think when, also lots of Allanton records although not sure they count as huge, 2 from me I would suggest Soulful Twins - Can't Let You Go and Tears - Good Luck My Love Also Magnetics I Have A Girl would only became popular after Stafford, would it have not, trust me I used to ask Butch to play it enough!!
-
Wow, great thread Russ, will mull over this tomorrow- was a bit surprised to see the JD in there, but we are not going to agree on all so maybe good idea to just accentuate the positive on this one, there are loads and since I am always banging on about it, would be good to put some up. Need to go to bed but I will be back tomorrow........

Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
jocko replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
I was being serious about the question (if not your sex life ), it is one of the best ones for a while on here. As an aside when I met Bernie at Guys again, I hadn't seen him for many years, and only got to know him via Richard and their SAS do's, not knowing just what a history Bernie had, at the time he had invited me to the Barn for a look at the records, and I thought he was probably bumming the find up, when I found out who he really was and what he sat on for years after I kept telling everyone how I could have been first in that stash, when I repeated this story to him at Guys, he said you are about the 100th person to have said that!!! So maybe I didn't have a near miss after all. Another question did somebody not put a list of Iains records out before Bernie got the rest, things like Frankie Beverley Fairmount for seriously cheap amounts, 100's of us spent days phoning and got nothing, was that Mr Levines records?? I remember the colour of the list but not who sent it out bizarrely, although a name Ian Stewart for some reason comes to mind. Anyone clear up this boggled mind? -

Lots and lots I thought Guy and Keb pretty much went right through it, unfortunately Iain is now gonna come along and say it was all crap because it was played in the 80's and Chris L will do his best nodding dog impersonation and say they weren't played the 3 weeks of 1973 which is the only time that counts. Prove me wrong chaps and talk objectively about this, its a great question Iain, and without a mention of your sex life, wow, -

He was at Guy H's 50th, still a cheeky chappy and very top form. -

Funniest thing on here so far today, and that is saying something Must admit guys it has gone a bit dull, need to up the ante, thought there would be more real stories and less Chris L parody of Ian L. and Ian D stories of his long lost sex Life Must come back and ask more about the disco house connection, or lack of it, must admit don't really get why that didn't float your boat. Hearing things like Fantastic Jades being played in 1973 is fascinating, but how about some stories of where you found them etc, -
We obviously share more than a name, at last a laugh, I am retiring to my afternoon nap happy at last. Oops that was meant to quote Jocks picture above, damned technology (ooops is that a moan)

Stuart mate if you are out there, and havn't ran off to hills of Perth in horror at what your merry jape has turned into, please close this down then I can resort to my Levinesque ignoring statement Many many many thanks if you do!
-
Okay who were you referring to then, its me you have been throwing things at, so who it is it. You are saying that I was not included in that reference, that would seem a bit contradictory. I repeat put up some evidence or move on, quickly. I think you will find Cream is a lot longer than 10 years ago, and since it was born in a certain City how could it be anything other than a scam to scam daft lads in tracksuits, it was born from the underground but was created to steal from the underground, no real surprise there. See something we agree now shut the f**k about me and go and leave me alone.
-
Whoopy do they must be right then these lovely people. I thought we were going to ignore each other. Here you go again, since it is only me you rant on about it can only be me who is the serial moaner, as I said 4 times already and you ignore it each time, show me the evidence or shut the f**k up, I am really getting fed up of this. I repeat I have retorted to you, asked you some interesting questions you ignore to answer, because you dont want to, well if thats the case leave me out of it. Because some people interpret being pulled up for being wrong (and this is general comment not at you) as moaning does not make it moaning, some people like keeping it factual Its highly likely you have reinvented yourself at least a couple of times, I no longer care and am no longer interested in whether you are a charlatan or not, just stop dragging me into. Show me where I moaned and did not just pull you up on something you said, this time produce some evidence. Oh and saying House died 10 years ago is not really helping your authenticity, it stopped being high street trendy 10 years ago, it carries on in some of the most unlikely places nowadays, again please just stick to facts. Just because you don't like something anymore doesn't mean it doesn't exist, trust me I really wish it did.

I give in, where did I say you had offended me? I was responding to some half baked accusation you were throwing at me, and I didn't ask you to justify anything, I was just trying to say your assumption that I had wouldn't have heard of B&S was bonkers, you had obviously not read anything gone previous. Excuse me, who was talking about being in the "hallowed" B&S dj booth, are you saying this was not trying to boost your credentials, I only responsed to your name dropping with B&S, to show I knew a little more than one of the most hyped clubs ever and I was listing friends rather than DJ's I had seen, just to see which genre of House you came from, as you well know the different genres within House makes NS look united, and therefore we may have been coming from very different angles. You obviously assumed and then decided to throw a stupid, uninformed insult at me, I was just responding because I am fed up of people like you coming on here, throw a few false accusations with nothing to back them up and then disappear into the Sunset, (Ibizan no doubt). Still not got a clue what relevance this has to anything but I wont have people like you coming on throwing mud without responding. Younger than who, what relevance is your age? What new genre, and to whom? In English and slowly please. Off course you are entitled to your point of view, and I dont think you need to have been into this music for more than a minute to have a point of view, so again not sure what relevance your 50 years is to this. My point is I dont see any understandable point of view in your earlier thread, it was just a dig at me, I responded and showed how ill-informed and ingorant your dig was. I repeat as I repeat to others deal in facts. The as usual comment was about you going on about letting young people in, not only was it irrelevant to this thread, its been done a million times before and is just boring, that was my point on same argument, not about you. If you are going to throw mud do a bit of decent digging first, I will debate and respect any of your points of view, try articulating it without trying to belittle me first however, as I said I see no relevance to any of this. Okay I have an appointment with the school nurse, I need to go cough.
