    Cheapies

Jeez some fantastic bargains on here, lots like Lee Jackson on refosoul, absolute snips some of these records and great quality.
  2. Oouch missed this as havent been on that much. So sad again, an absolute legend and so influential in the NS world. Great man, RIP Mike!
  3. Not really the best analogy since Goa is now generally seen to be full of rich tourists, trendy 5 minute wonder wannabees, media luvvies and pretend Hippies that spent a couple of months in the 70's wearing a flowery shirt that now proclaim Hippydom is their religion and they are keeping the Hippy faith (that they actually had lost for over 30 years, but we won't mention that). Therefore the chances of getting an authentic curry in Goa is very slim with only a few relevant places left, you generally only get a really watered down version of the real thing that only tourists would think is genuine. Not a very good analogy therefore........... is it??
  4. Jeez more bad news, a top lad that I always enjoyed his company and his knowledge, another of the guys that made the Northern scene that I remember so special, this is just so sad. RIP Steve, really down on this one.
  5. You are a gentleman, I have been buying a couple of new Beenies this weekend so can swap you an old one as part of the deal! Drop me an email if you find it as am not on here much at moment. Hope you are feeling better. I have just seen them, normally a bit rich in price for me but as he was the kind gentleman that had to put up with me all the way from Gt Yarmouth to Brighton this year sure there will be some negotiation possible, especially if I promise not to put him through that again He actually has a couple I am after looking at his site. I hate GEMM, have bought 2 recently upgrading from reissue and they were f****g re-issues, tend to just deal with people I know on there. The first time I heard it out Tony was a MAW gig, he played that and a straight jazz track in the middle of all this Latin house, it sounded brilliant, bizarrely next time was at Wilton all nighter last hour, it just didnt seem the same!!
  6. Not wanting to steal Trev's thread, but assume he is after the 7" only, so if anyone has the this on the original*** LP, Pieces of A Man, I would very much like one please, just one I have never picked up on vinyl and always meant to. Cheap as chips will help! *** I expect a certified letter from your mum or someone similarly qualifed to say it is an original and not one of those nasty 180gram reissue thingymijigs!
  7. Do you know if they did only one LP, I did see on on Ebay other week on 20th Century but didnt have time to check listing, if anyone has the LP at reasonable price let me know!
  8. Didn't you also have a Magnetics cracked that you sold on to (or bought from?) Duncan Pollett? A theme developing here?? Can you text me your mobile no. and Steve's no as I got new phone recently and lost all my nos. Really appreciated your text re show, and as said last time I saw you it would be good to catch up some time, in this country and not at a funeral! Good to see you typing on here, just need to be careful now when I reinvent my part in the 80's or I insult those Fifers, who keeping it on topic were all a bit cracked back in the day!!
  9. Really sad news, and absolutely shocked at such low sales figures, I just, naively obviously, thought anyone with more than a passing interest in the scene buys these magazines. Another reminder that its not true that the quality things always survive these tough times, and a reminder to get out and buy any even remotely soul related publications before they all disappear. Great effort Dave and as everyone says the website is a fantastic resource so glad to hear its staying.
  10. Hello good man, my leg is just recovering now, thanks for asking! I think you will find I played DITG last week at Northampton, so while loving it,m it pales in comparison to TLGOM which should be bigger than a big thing at every club in this fractured scene every weekend. I appreciate that is just my opinion, but its right!
  11. Do you mind if I ask how much Phil, just out of nosiness, as you don't see it much but not sure how well thought of it is these days. If anyone has the album to sell at a reasonable price (would hoping for one about a 1/3 of recent ebay prices be being a bit optimistic?) then get in touch
  12. I would like one too but want it cheap as chips, as always, but also factoring in the LP market has now completely crashed lower than an Investment Bankers morals. So therefore as I fear any offer I make may be derisory, does anyone want to be brave and enter this new world and tell me how much they think the thing is worth in todays market, then I can knock a suitable percentage off before Tony/Rob tell me where to go with my derisory offer. Seriously Chris a PM on how much you paid may be helpful and then I can decide if too rich for me.
  13. Major IV This Little Girl Of Mine Venture Jocko The Tryer Edinburgh I have emptied more dancefloors over the years to this and its time for it NOW. (even though I have forgotten to play it the twice I have dj'd this year!) Okay flying visit, off to bed. Gnight
  14. I can't believe no-one has asked the question you are all dying to........ how many copies does he have! Would love to hear his other stuff, currently imaging another as good as the recent Al Williams unissued track, we can hope.
  15. Okay found it, new I had one I have a CD from him from 2004, called Wonderful, on UrbN'FLo, its a half live CD and to be honest not sure I gave it that many listens at time, off to bed with and will report back tomorrow. Can scan it if anybody wants.
  16. https://www.myspace.com/kennybobien Anyone taking a bus to Italy?? Myspace seems to be the place to find these now, I just dont have the patience, but listen to the track on his page and makes me think maybe I should. Okay Guten Nacht from me definitely this time. And looking at his page I think Dennis Ferrer should be our topic for our midnight chat tomorrow, Justifiable, what a tune,
  17. Hmm thats bad news then as pretty sure I haven't bought any vinyl LPS for a long time, just turned my record room upside down for nothing it would appear!! Is there some unwritten rule these days that the House threads have to be the latest threads on here? Off for my beauty sleep with some Yoruba Soul.
  18. Tommy & The Derbys Don't Play That Role Swing Jocks Unknown Twin Edinburgh DB part 2. We should be blessed stuff like this is still turning up, no matter how infrequently these days.
  19. Just Brothers Go on And Laugh Acetate Jock Edinburgh Dogs bollocks and then some, possibly one of the greatest, sure Butch promised to give me this for my birthday next week, didnt you???
  20. Ahh well done Mark, knew I had seen one, no details on Google bizarrely, pretty sure I bought this but can't find the damned thing, I hate CD's I lose about 2 a week!!
  21. She has denied it on a number of occassions hasn't she Tony, wonder why she would continue to deny now? Some sound like her but not sure if thats power of imagination, but some definitely dont sound exactly like Tammi, what do you think, as you probably have a better ear than I do for something like that?
  22. [quote name='Mike Lofthouse' date='Oct 20 08, 07:17 PM' post='902296' Just listening to her 'Turning Around' album on Atco inc. a cracking version of 'I Ain't Got To Love Nobody Else' R.I.P. Mike
  23. Some superb bargains in there, not least this lot, the Neal Kimble has a brilliant deep b side and the Lee Charles has a great beat ballad on the other side, just awesome records, snap these up now. Think I have put sound clips up for some of these, if they have not gone by this evening (and if not there should be a Government enquiry into why people are not buying records like this anymore!) will put some clips up.
  24. Now Bri has been sorted has anyone got another copy of the LP for sale? Keep meaning to pick it up but never get round to it. As Mel says the 12" always goes for decent money, is it not to do with its connection to one of the big NY clubs. Anyone got a soundclip of the 7" to compare?
